The (original) arcade version only had 1 extra car (the muscle car) that was unlocked my mileage, and more miles just added more paint jobs for that car. In the home versions, there are a lot more extra cars, and you unlock them by collecting coins.
the dreamcast and ps2 version slightly harder because at 1.05 that stretch has windmills to avoid and also at 1.40 u get trains running past there aswell.
What you're describing is the normal "Single Race" and "Circuit" modes. While this is the time trial mode, or "Ghost Race" as the game calls it. It's in all versions of the game. It's different from those other modes. As I wrote up in the description:
"In "Ghost Race", all shortcuts are automatically opened so there are no switches, and obstacles not inherently part of the road are removed (such as the big ass fans)."
Well actually, I live too far away from any sort of place where there's an arcade, let alone any sort of competition...
But I did play a lot of the arcade version when it was around in my area, and I was pretty good, too, if I do say so myself. But I also knew of a lot of REALLY awesome arcade players; particularly those from the Starbase arcade in San Rafeal, CA. That was like the Rush capital.
lol i play this a lot lately i mean literally yesterday i wuz playin stunt track 2 with the euro lx but, i gotta admit i cheat. i use the following cheats:
all cars
super speed
suicide mode
all parts
invincibility
yeah, and i'm trying to beat the beginner circuit (call me a n00b i haven't played in years) im on track 2 backwards and 3 races to go to get a secret track? yeah thats a question chrish2049 do you get track 5 if u beat the beginner circuit?
i bet u merked everyone in the arcade i liked the arcade better as well but i kind of want the home version on my ol n64 becauce n0t all arcades still have this game goooooooooooooooooooood ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuunnnnnnnnnnn
Wow! That was really impressive. I played the hell out of this track on a dreamcast demo disc.

They'll never make another game again where you can use a volcano as a shortcut. :(

can you unlock different cars like in the arcade version? i remember id always use this black muscle car
TH3Omaster 2 years ago
Yeah, but it works differently.
The (original) arcade version only had 1 extra car (the muscle car) that was unlocked my mileage, and more miles just added more paint jobs for that car. In the home versions, there are a lot more extra cars, and you unlock them by collecting coins.

The TRACK is called "Civic", not the car.

That is one of the most impressive runs I have ever seen on that track. Nice job indeed. Ill have to try those out for myself.

at 00:15-00:18, were you using offroad/all terrain tires?
I usually pick up no speed across the water, I noticed you did.
kableguy338 2 years ago
Yeah. Off-road tires are what makes that shortcut work properly. Don't bother with all terrains. They're rather useless actually.
ChrisH2049 2 years ago
Looks nothing like a McLaren F1. Even other video game companies would figure out how to make one realistic.
supermariogalaxian 3 years ago
I assume you went to the competitions they had for the arcade version... if you didn't im sure you would have done very well.

I could never make it into the volcano in the arcade version, and even then it was so tricky navigating through and out of it. Well done.

My friend played this track in the arcade 3 years ago at a bowling alley in Kinston, and she could NOT stop winning first place every time!
She always used the yellow muscle car with the black stripes as well to achieve the consecutive 1sts. :0P
