  • i loved playing this game as a kid.

  • I remember this ...... 23/24 Years ago!!!!!!

  • onestamente era molto difficile da risolvere-prese,se non sbaglio 98% come voto di una rivista.

  • Pretty good speedrun. Kudos to Mike for it. Blindy navigating the mazes was probably the worst part of it :D

  • Thanks for this! After 23 years, I finally get to see the ending to this game.

  • ZLORFIK! I miss this game

  • Seeing Zak McKracken finished even today gives such a breezy relief. 15 years later.

  • mmm but... what about the lottery? I did not get how zak is able to buy so many air-ticket without run out of money. I remember that it was mandatory to play the lottery with the number stolen at the mind benders on the spaceship.

btw, great work!! I accomplished it in an entire summer on a pc386 (w/o walk through of course)

  • He must have forgot that he would need the lighter right off the bat in Seattle when he went back and forth to San Francisco there!

  • @watermanbearriveryah

no, this was done to skip the long cutscene the first time you take the plane. It's faster to fly twice than watching the cutscene.

  • I want back old game. But what about Windows 7 that can install Zak? if so then from where download?

  • It's obvious this isn't the Com 64 version for those of u that dont know the difference, in the Com 64 version, Zak doesn't have a nose

  • OMG - this was so - I would never play this game again - fucking airport terminal sessions :-)

  • This game inspired me a lot when I was a child.

  • i wonder how much time i played with this... in fact i learned english with that game... i used a whole dictionary just to understand what it was saying, then i used it to play "maniac mansion"... silly me, hours of fun...

  • I loved this game. :) Btw, Zak McKracken looks like Jerry Seinfeld.

  • I want to play this again :( and Manic Mansion, Monkey Island and Indiana Jones :(

  • @TheSallySeagull Download the Monkey Island 1 remake from piratebay or something and then press c or space or something while playing and it goes into old school mode.

Or just simply download Monkey Island 1 & 2. They work on Windows XP as least (no sound, though) or download DosBox and then the games and get the PC versions with sound.

Or download WinUAE and emulate the Amiga versions.

Or you can always download Maniac Mansion DeLuxe for PC.

  • @roskildahphreak Cool. I'll try them out. Thanks.

  • @TheSallySeagull Maniac Mansion DeLuxe and Monkey Island Remake should be found on piratebay and Monkey Island 1 & 2 just simply google Monkey Island 1 torrent and Monkey Island 2 torrent. You'll probably find both in one big torrent. Not sure if the latter works on Vista or 7 (if you use Windows) but they work fine on XP (sound's missing though)

  • I always made it to Seattle only...

  • I love LucasArts games! Not sure if I ever beat this one.

  • omg i used to play this game so much, but never finished...

  • Wow I used to love this game :)

  • Great game. Great humour which seems to be a mix of George Lucas and Monty Python (but even funnier and more brilliant than Python). This game along with Maniac Mansion taught me English when I was a child. (I was born in 1976.) I used to dream about this game at night, about the scene in the airplane with the egg in the microowen...

  • Wow... this is the oldest game I remember having played.. I guess I was like 5-6 years old when I first tried it

  • Wow, and to think when I played I was barely surpassing 10% of the game!!! lol

It's good to finally see the ending.

  • Yeah, I´d like to see someone win olympic gold the first time they set foot on a sports ground too.

Or a youtube comment that don´t come from some complete retard.

  • Is there any way to play these old games on Vista?

  • Yes, with ScummVM :)

  • This is the PC version...less loading times, short cut ability and without airport codes. And The C64 version had better sound!!!

  • Now wait a minute... at 1:30, Zak is going to Seattle, back to SFO and to Seattle again?!

Is it me or is it slightly more speedy than normal? I just played the C64 version and that one is definatly a bit slower.

Anyway, to me this was the best C64 Point and Click game!

  • check out scummvm

  • Aww I wish I had this game still, it was awesome. I remember I had this on a PC thing and a sega - maybe a PS1 too. But this game and Maniac Mansion pwned them

  • The best version of this is incidentally only on FM Towns, a Japanese computer.

  • Amiga FTW

  • This is the PC-Version - the screen are much more detailed than the C64version...

  • I'm 99% sure this is played on a C64 *emulator* with a li'l speed up in the moves.

    C64 original was muuuuuch slower.

  • Is that played on a Commodore 64?

  • The Magic Words on the scroll are "Elvis Is King" backwards.

  • too hard(!!!)!

  • Oh, by the way... Do you know that when you stay longer on that plane to the Bermuda Triangle you get captured by the Aliens? :D

  • Yeh I expect he knows that, but you only need to go to the alien spaceship if you run out of cash and need some more!

  • lots of people played this game to death and never knew they could make a bargain from that BENT butter knife in a "certain" shop! =D

worked on my miggy, but should also work on the c64

  • Yeah I remember finding out by accident that you can sell the butter knife for a huge profit if you bend it on the floorboards or the loose dirt. When I first played the game on the A500 I had virtually no cash left so went to sell all my stuff and the guy says "wow that's a rare artifact!" and gives you a nice cash boost!

    Haha, whadda game!

  • Whoaaa... that's awesome! I love that game, it's so great and funny. Great job and thanks for sharing :D

  • At 32:00 - 32:07 something strange happens. You have Leslie holding the sarcophagus feet keeping the stairway open but as soon as Melissa reaches the top you switch to Leslie and release the feet which should close the stairs so Zak and Melissa can get to the middle of the room - However in this vid they mysteriously teleport there!

Also when stealing the flag pole you don't need to set fire to the hay as long as you quickly get to the yak with your cash card.

  • When you switch away and back, the character ends up in the middle of that room, no matter where they were initially. That "trick" (bug?) is used twice, for Melissa and Zak, to save some time.

There's a similar idea to gain a little time at 29:00 (she keeps walking even after the switch).

Nice idea with the flag pole, if it really works, it would have saved some time...

  • pleasee give me the visa code required!!!!!! pleaseeeeeeeee i love this game but i can´t go on in the airport!!!.. thankss abandon fanss

  • You can't be given a visa code cus its different each time you start the game.

  • Wooohoo! Zak McKracken from beginning to end! Havent seen this game since i ÜBERFAILED at it as a kid on amiga 500. Now I see why I failed so hard, it's a huge and complicated damn game, here I am thinking I was retarded my whole life. hehe

  • I was only six years old, when I first played this game (Amiga 500 version, really good sounds). I didn't even know how to speak English back then. But I guess this game taught me a lot of English at an early stage =D. I wonder why we can't have any educational games at schools. Ppl bore the hell out because reading too much books. Anyway, I couldn't beat the game because it always crashed at a certain point. Later (about ten years l8r) I just DL'd pc version and used walkthrough.

  • that reminds me of cosy afternoons in front of a huge vga monitor. *sigh* just luv these pc speaker sounds

  • OMG!!Incredibleeee XD

  • I called my sister, held the phone to the speaker and she said "Zak?" She's 31 years old.

    hahah

    she rocks

  • 1. He only started with the ticket to Seattle, which you get from your editor in the opening scene. 2. It's not a trumpet, it's a kazoo. Get your facts straight.

  • lol that was legend. i LOVED that game.

  • those neverending maces made me never finish it :(

  • bune aq yarak gibi hahaha hepinizin anasını sikeyim

  • i remeber when i put on taped fish bowl and ended up suffocated

  • back then we didnt have walkthroughs! never made it halfway through though i spent WEEKS playin it!

  • OH MAN THANKS for posting this!! Flash backs all day!!

  • this game was awesome!

spent so many hours on this.

the old sierra and lucas art games was the best!

  • Would have been more interesting playing the Amiga version with better sound.

  • damn i didnt know the trick with the loose brick.

  • @exfalso what "loose brick"? Namely what did I miss? (it was a very speedy speed run, so ... ;))

  • Congratulations.

  • 35 minutes and not one "that doesn't seem to work"? :)

  • See ya! *lol*

  • Great game. I remember the satisfaction when I completed it. I remember the time spent to play. I loved this game.

  • oh, it so reminds me of the old days! except when i played it it was on the old floppy disks which actually WERE floppy, (the big ones), plus you needed 4 of them to play the whole game... Yeah, and in my version you had to type in some codes from the sierra instruction manual before each time you used an international flight!

  • the codes was a form of piracy prevention for the game. if I'm not wrong.

  • Yeah, they were. They were printed black on dark red paper so they couldn't be copied, either.

  • this game was so complicated!!

  • MAD PROPS,

I feel like I solved a piece of my childhood.

    Beyoung~

  • maniac mansion EVER!!

  • After receiving the winning numbers in the king's spaceship, go back to Lou's Loans and play lotto. You'll win and have unlimited money on your cash card.

  • absolutely wonderful

  • He looks like Jerry Seinfield....just as funny too....

  • You did a lot of bungling in this game, I think, like jetting from one place to another and then right back again without doing anything in-between, or neglecting to do a couple of things in frisco before shipping off to the airport.

  • Going back and forth to Seattle at the beginning is faster than staying in the plane and watching the cutscene (you can't skip the cutscene without landing).

Since you need to return to SF anyway with the blue crystal, it's faster to do things in the order chosen in the video rather than what you suggest.

  • omfg o_O ^^

  • Wow , even the C64 version had much better sound and music than this version. :) Anyway , great speed run ! That brings memories back :)

  • thanks. never made it trough in the old days :(

  • very nice run. I remember this game from c64, the difficulty is hardcore. I wish the new games were like this instead of utterly dumb crap. The game industry got screwed by growing too big and publishers being interested in graphics only. No risks are taken...

  • I had this originally on the Amiga 1200, I was in infant school was like 4 :)

  • Thank You for really great 35 Minutes!

  • You best

  • finally saw the end of that one.Could'nt make it to the end many years ago on c64.there was a bug on the copy near the end.(dang! you konow what i mean).

    Thank you!

  • Best game ever!!!

Is this really the original PC Version.

In my opinion it doesn't sound like PC Speaker?

For example melody at some locations sounds different to me.

  • This is not the very first pc version. This is a later version with better sound and better graphic quality. After the success of the game they decided to extend it.

  • Nah... Original my friend! Commie 64.

  • This version is for PC played on Windows XP. And you will also see that this version is optically totally different to the c64 version and also inside the game. So please do not compare two complete different games, on complete diefferent platformes with partially different story.

  • Not that it matters much... but this is obviously sped up. The bus kazoo sequence at the beginning goes much slower.

  • The speed ist okay, there has nothing been modified.

  • So what about all the stuff that's left out? For example...when the blue crystal is used, you don't just see the guy show up, there's a flash back to the "secret room". You also don't see the entire "transaction" with the Guru - you can't just "esc" through a lot of it. I'm still bothered by the Bus in San Fran - the text doesn't scroll past that fast. I just played that exact scene on my computer and it takes twice as long.

  • Have you used an emulator to play the game? Or which platform have you used? XP?

  • *BEST*

    *GAME*

    *EVER*

Screw y'all and your WoW or GTA...this game (and Maniac Mansion) were hands down the best .EXE ever created. I dare you to deny it!

  • Great memories! I seem to remember the option to meet Elvis too - on a spaceship over the Bermuda triangle.

  • I played this too, but got fustrtated at the maze in Mars, so I didn't finish it. Nice to see rest of the game so.

  • never saw the end either

  • The Lucas Arts game I played most often is Day of the Tentacle.

  • When I played this I was around 10 years old. It took several weekends with a friend to play this till the end :)))) Loved the game ;)

  • so cool, i never actully finished this game, s cool to see the end, cool.

  • Holy crap I never thought I would see this game again let alone someone beating it! Thank you!

  • coool, good old times...

  • Zlorfik ! That was awesome !

  • So many unanswered questions finally put to rest. Thank you.

  • Nice! Now I won't need the walkthrough anymore!

  • I always got stuck in some place so I hated this game from the start

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Did I mention thank you? ;-)

  • super ! never played this game this fast, it took me at least 39 mins
