Hi Im pretty new to the warhammer thing but I really want to learn to play and I have always admired the minitures in my local games workshp, I have already dicided to use the tau, and my friend gave me a devilfish with a rail cannon, would you say this box would be good for me to get since im new, or get a tau fire warrior squad?

@firebrand15 Personally, I recommend the Battleforce. You get the box of Firewarriors that you were planning on buying anyways, plus a box of Kroot, plus a box of Stealth Suits, and on top of all that you get an XV8 Battlesuit as well. If you factor in the cost of each box, you're pretty much getting the Stealth Suits for free.

tau are most likely the most underrated army in warhammer 40k only because they aren't good in CC they make up for with strong battlesuits and god- like firepower

@mastercheif158 True, although even with their awesome firepower I'd still put them at a very low tier; perhaps better than Necrons but not too many other armies. They're still a fun army to collect and paint though!

@tr03gam3r Yes, it's a great deal on models, so you should definitely stock up on these before the models are updated (granted, that won't be for a while, but still...)

And yes, I believe I was listening to some Offspring while busting open the box.

@mastercheif158 The Codex is just a little outdated; a few editions back the Tau were the only army that could bring lots of long-range, high Strength, low AP weapons. Now, almost every army can do it, and usually for cheaper too. A lot of stuff in the Tau Codex is really overpriced as well. They can still be competitive, of course, but there's just a lot holding them back from being on par with a lot of the newer Codexes.

accually ARodriguez258 the cost of the Bttleforce now is 108$ plus tax so 123.18 (close) A tau crisis suit is 28.75$ stealthteam is 26.75$ FIre warriors 42.00$ Kroot 42.00$ Devilfish 42$ so pretty much speratly it's 179 $ even if you throw the Kroot away ur still saving money so. another option is to sell the kroot on Ebay for like 21 bucks making some money back but w/e haha PS. i do math because i want to save money :)

I just added up the pricings, you get the kroot, and stealth suits free! fish: 35, FW: 35, Crisis Suit: 20, 90! (cost $90 bucks now, gw decreased that!)

@Gamble20fo They are definitely more of a finesse army than, say, Space Marines or Orks or Necrons. Don't let me discourage you if you really want to play Tau, though. Once you figure out their tricks they can be quite competitive, regardless of what everyone else says.
