  • Jonathan Frid is an amazing actor...one of my all time favorites.

  • Thanks for this nice tribute. He seems like a kind and wonderful man.

  • Wonderful pictures. Thanks for putting this together.

  • Good work Baron. Good tribute to a great actor-- a 1960s icon!

  • isnt he still alive? I hope so. that man was my first love at age 6!! I hope he hasnt died. will someone please respond? Thanks

  • Beautiful musical accompaniment to such a beautifully arranged video montage of the gifted shakespearean actor "Jonathan Frid," who just happened to be the focal point on one of TV's (and mine) most popular daytime soap operas, Dark Shadows!

  • like Barnabas Collins? you'll love Sebastian Vasilis! "Last Rites: The return of Sebastian Vasilis" on amazon! Indyplanet!

  • Wow that was great! He was such an attractive man!

  • Surprised to see that he hasn't been inducted into Canada's Walk Of Fame in Toronto. Especially now with all the craze about vampires and the remake of the series next year, he's certainly been brought back into the spotlight.

  • Great job on this montage. I'm so glad you posted it.

  • What a great tribute to a wonderful gifted actor !

  • Jonathan Frid is an amazing person.

His work is second to none and he keeps going.

    Love the guy.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • An excellent pictoral slideshow of Mr. Jonathan Frid. Thumbs Up!

  • ThankYou excellent montage. The original sexy vampire, move over Twilight It brought back memories

  • I saw him at the DS convention this month. It was great seeing this collection of rare pictures. What a talent.

  • Thank you so much for sharing many photos I have never seen before !

  • The music to this video is so beautiful, I love classical . It is weird , but my husband has some simular features like Jonathan Frid does , kinda funny . He seems such the intellect when he answers his letters on his site.

  • At the height of the show's unprecedented popularity in the 60s, one time Dark Shadows was represented in a parade, Frid recalled in the Dark Shadows Home Companion. ABC approached him about maybe doing it laid out in an open coffin, in an open hearse. Frid drew the line about going that far. LOL

  • Thank You for that wonderful tribute to Jonathan Frid... It was 1968 - 7th Grade, I'd rush home from Charlotte High School in Rochester, New York school (I'd get out at 3:05) and get to theTV by 3:30 on ABC, Channel 13

to watch DS. As the years progressed with soccer and after school events I lost touch until the shows were put on video in the 90's.

Thanks for posting such great memories of Dark Shadows.

  • Ran home from grade school-SciFi (syfy) you ARE sick sropping this (despite protest) and putting some of the trash on.Anyway-one of my favorite pieces to perform and great great clips. A true CLASSIC.Thanks

  • One of my favorite songs I used to perform-so moving and the clips-Priceless. Damn theSciFi (Syfy) channel for not running this despite a lot of negative feedback at the time they stopped and then replacing it with total crap. Love you Scifi but you are wrong on this one.CLASSIC

  • Love those shots of Jonathan and Grayson.

  • This is a nice tribute.. I agree with snowgirl1052. Barnabas Collins was the BEST vampire ever, thanks to the great talent of Jonathan.

  • I cant discribe the thanks 4 that, amazing!!! tears of joy!!!!

  • I am so glad that you enjoyed this...please check out my other Dark Shadows videos...I think you would like them as well! :)

  • Iam a huge Johnathan Frid fan. I love love loved Dark Shadows. He is my favorite vampire of all of them--cause he is such a good actor. There is a "resurection" of vampires today and NONE CAN COME CLOSE to Johathan Frids characterization of Barnabas. My fav scene from DS was when Wille opened Barnabuses coffin the first time--it scared me--such a first for daytime TV. And then the ghose of Jeramiah Collins totally scared the snot of of me! Good memories.

  • Wow, great, can't believe I've missed this until now....many shots I'd never seen before, so I really enjoyed this....he WAS a handsome devil (no pun intended) wasn't he?

  • did anyone see that movie seizure that was really a very weird movie didn't like the was he was portrayed in it though i am used to seeing him as a strong man and that didn't portray him in a good light

  • Wonderful montage with perfect music!

Wonderful candid shots of him, nicely done.

Bless his heart, wish I see him at the festival this year.

  • Someone said he looks like Mr. Bean, which I never noticed until now! But he is still cuter with such CHARISMA! He had all genders flocking...

  • The cool thing about him after the show was done he woud still Ware act like barnabas he used to get leters from kids saying dont be mean to Willie and he thought it was soooo cute

  • Those eyes...Those cheekbones...Those dimples!

  • OOOooh what a wonderful face of an actor. So fun to see posed as well as "in the shower!?" Was that from seizure? Baron, thanks.

  • Both the bedroom scene and the shower scene were from 16 Magazine's "Adonis Gallery". I remember sending off for that when I was a teen and running to grab it out of the mailbox before my mother discovered it, LOL. I knew that she would rib me unmercifully. I told her about that years later and she just laughed and said she would have understood. She said she had her heroes, too, and showed me her old movie scrapbooks. Whew.

  • Great stuff. Thanks.

  • Come to think of it, those photos may have been from a magazine article entitled, "My Son, the Vampire". It's been so long ago, but I had that one as well; still do, somewhere. I could have sworn that they came from "Adonis", so if I am mistaken, please forgive this oldster. I do recall some shirtless photos of the teen idols featured in !6, including Frid, and other DS castmates, however, within the special offer.

  • Sweet. Thyme, are you also the Baron? I thought all the vid makers were the youngins. I am the same age as the real David Henesy. When he was twelve, I was twelve, etc. I just watched Seizure with Frid because its weird and I thought it had a shower scene, although he made that a few years after Shadows. If your magazines were puplished during the time DS was made then, when in the world did he pose for those. Nice to see a human side to Frid. We know of his night stalker stint.

  • No. Let's see...I was nine when "DS" first aired in 1966. I did the videos to see if I could figure out the Movie Maker and uploading. I used to hear these great songs as a kid and thought that they went with certain scenes--all in my head, then--now realized. Gloria Stavers, 16's editor, had contact with the stars of popular culture; her's and vying mags kept stars like Frid busy--it must have been a promotional thing and good for #3 network ABC, which wished to capture the youth market.

  • What a wonderful tribute to a man who is so incredible. I grew up watching Jonathan Frid, and he's the first man that I ever had a crush on lol..These pictures are wonderful. Thank you so much for posting these.

  • Thank you for sharing these pictures and for all the hard work that was involved. I enjoy it vey much. Thanks for letting us know he never married. I'm sorry he missed out on having a family.

  • I'm so glad you liked the tribute! :)

  • Marvelous slide show!!Barnabas will always be my # 1 vampire of all time!!

    Sophi

  • I don't mind at all that you featured this video on your YT page...in fact...I'm honored! I'm glad you enjoyed it! :)

  • Excellent!! and I love the limerick!!!

  • Enjoyed seeing these old photos again. I used to collect all the daytime and fan magazines hoping for pictures of him and the DS gang. It's nice to have them here with such elegant music accompanying them. The one with Grayson Hall where he's in the safari jacket is priceless--sure wish they'd been a couple, Julia and Barnabas, in the storyline. Great montage!

  • So did I..Anything that had Dark Shadows, I was all over it :)

  • i love this! where did you get all these wonderful photos? :)

  • Nicely done!

  • Thanks for posting. I enjoyed it.

  • Right nice photos of Mr. Frid. Thank you!

ps..I have searched, but can't find information if he had a family of his own?

  • Hi and thanks for taking time to comment! Mr. Frid has never married...he claims it is one of his greatest acomplishments!

  • Beautiful photos. Many never before seen by me. Thanks for posting. And thanks for your dedication to this wonderful man.

  • Lovely tribute to one of the great actors and my favorite vampire. He is such a versatile actor and so handsome indeed ;) Thank you for posting !!!

  • Can't see the video anymore--message says that it's no longer available. Can you "resurrect" it?

  • Wonderful montage! Thanks for posting.

  • That was AWESOME.... incredibly nostalgic and wonderfully done! What a ferociously handsome man Jonathan Frid is.

The Limerick was a very nice touch. Bravo.

  • Hi...thank you so much for taking the time to comment! I'm glad you liked the video...and I have to agree with you...Mr. Frid is a VERY handsome man! :)
