  • I would listen to Kiri sing about anything. if you are gonna always compare singers to others that gets dangerous. Sound is a matter of opinion. I would prefer listening to Kiri sing something wrong than most others doing it right. Her voice has a tone and quality that is unmatched to me and I love her in every role she does. Sure others have done better at certain roles. But others have done better than them to. it could go on and on if we always compare and never just enjoy. I LOVE YOU KIRI!!!

  • @No1ZmeskalFan you're so right!

  • Brava KIRI!

  • A beautiful rendition. Dame Kiri has a lovely voice and great technique. Brava!

  • Oh, you peopel talk so much shit. Her singing is fine. Is she the ideal Mimi? Probably not. But I've heard her live and her voice had so much bloom especially in certain repertoire. Hell, I even heard her sing "Ebben, ne andro lontana" at Avery Fisher hall, and her B was the loudest sound I ever heard from her...you can't judge from what the microphones pick up, you have to experience them in the hall..

  • O stop bickering and just love it. Puccini's operas are notoriously hard to sing. She is a prima donna!

  • @Carolynnhall I know... ppl think, since there's no coloratura, and the high notes are spread out, it's somehow easier... I personally find it the most difficult, over bel canto and the hardest Strauss!

  • @eugenelohks Very true. If it was easy, there would be more than a handful of singers who are convincing in this music. It requires, MUCH more than bel canto in terms of mental focus on using the words to shape the drama of the lyrics.

  • yeah yeah, listen to the last note she sings, you dont know if it's des ( which it is on the partiture )or c lol

  • maybe she was sick; but so was Mimi so excellent acting.

  • Love it Love it!!

  • I love this woman... who cares if her technique is outdated.

  • No such thing as an outdated technique, just lack of technique which she'd certainly didn't have.

  • Who cares? It was as good as Callas' and Sutherland's.

  • Was I talking to you?

  • HaHa. Are you a singer? Cause if you were a singer, you would look at the obvious. This woman is singing, without a microphone, in a 500+ room theatre, over an entire orchestra that is not always playing piano, and you can still hear her consonants and vowels and her dynamic range. It takes technique to do that. There's no way she could have produced some of the tone colors that she was producing and there's no way she would be doing this opera for you to critique, if she didn't have technique.

  • I'm sorry, but I don't know why you seem to think I'm against Kiri here!?! All I said was that she doesn't have a lack of technique...is that insulting? No! I very much like Kiri, especially when she sticks to Mozart and Strauss.

  • wonderful !

  • So beautiful!

  • Look!, look just... her fragility, her tenderness...

Oohhh, how I love this woman!! and her honey voice...

    =)Thanks! again and again...
