That takes me back.. i was there late july and encountered that same goat. As for it not being dangerous, it isnt hard to stay on the trail but if you were to trip in the wrong direction then you have just died. Past the chalet it was around 90 degrees with humidity in around 80%. It wasnt that fun, especially when i ran out of water 2 miles before the chalet and there was no place to stop and filter. Otherwise it was an amazing hike with great views.
Excellent video, thanks! Do you think doing the hike backwards is a good idea? Starting at Swiftcurrent Inn, up to Swiftcurrent pass, then to granite park chalet (and also to glacier overlook), and then back the same way to many glacier? I am thinking about parking at the swiftcurrent inn and doing that, so I don't have to spend a couple hours or so riding shuttles just to get to logan pass. Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated, thanks!
How would this hike work with just one car? There is no shuttle service going from the swiftcurrent inn area to logan pass I believe. So if I leave my car at swiftcurrent or at logan pass, how would I get back to logan pass or swiftcurrent after the hike? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
Thanks for posting this. I hiked it last month after reviewing your video and might not have done it without your great video work and narration! There was still a lot of snowfields on the trail, which added an extra challenge of navigating a foot wide path in the snow, trying to keep balance while slipping. What a great challenge. We saw no bear on this trail but did encounter 1 Grizzly sow and 3 cubs on the Iceberg trail.
Great video :) Good narration and stunning scenery...thank you! I wish I was back in Glacier National Park - one of the most beautiful places I have ever been.
nice video. just hiked it a few days back. saw a bunch of bighorn sheep and mountain goats. the trail seemed a lot higher and and narrower than it appears in this video though. glad they had the garden hose for the first part.
I hiked this trail on July 18, on the very day when the trail opened. It was just amazing! Magnificent scenery, not difficult trail, I really wanna go there again. Thanks for the nice video~!
Did this on July 19, 2008. It was amazing! We saw a whole group of big horn sheep. Luckily, no bears. We hiked up to Grinnell Glacier as well... what a hike! GNP is so beautiful... can't wait to come back.
I've done the hike 3 timesbut most of the video was shot in Sept. of 2007. The Highline and Grinnell Glacier trail are my favorites. Take the hiker shuttle to Logan pass to do the highline.
I'm heading there again around Labor day, let me know if you see someting I should check out.
haha just did this trail recently, this video is a trip through memory lane.
