The sound you are all refering too in the decending bassline and thats not just a BEATLESEQUE technique its a musical formula. For those that know NOTHING about music....there are only 12 notes in the american scale...and most songs on the radio are 4 chord songs that repeat in the verses and chorus, (unoriginal) and completely predictable...so can't knock a band that sounds like the biggest selling group of all time!
If you've never seen this band live, GO DO IT ASAP!! They're an amazing band live and I'm gonna see them again on May 13! They have so much energy and are truly talented musicians.
How about the Rolling Stones' "Can't You Hear Me Knocking?" The riff and bass of the beginning sound similar. So you 've got Beatles AND Stones influences. Pretty hard to go wrong there.
@much2muchfun i dont know a band that doesnt use a bassline from a already made music, because duh, all the chords and notes have been used already that explains why the music tends to become way more alternative/strange instead of just plain beautiful...
@PaidByTheMinute , this is a great band. so you didn't listen to this song and haven't heard any of their albums, but you don't like it because of the name?
@SlMPLETWlST Most people on here are below the age of 14, that explaine anough. They have no appreciation or respect for what paved the way for what they love. By no means do I like metallica(no need to rail, it's my opinion) but I respect the shit out of them,. and recpgnize that without them, the music I listen to today does'nt exist.
no band in the worl has ever been or will ever be compleatley original... everyone derives their sound off of their influences. but that dosent mean they have no originality at all. while linkin park and nickleback rule the charts, its great to see a band that stays true to teir roots, and their sound weather mainstream or not. and why would anyone talk trash about sounding like the beatles, one of the greatest rock bands of all time. at least they dont sound like kid rock!!!
@2323dabears I believe that people who say that they sound like Beatles are making fools of themselves and expose themselves as bad listeners (but talkers). To think that Beatles sounded like one thing and to assume that Dr. Dog sounds the same clearly shows a deep misunderstanding in all aspects of the statement.
They havebeen around 10 + yrs..always retro sound/harmonies/original writing/so laid back/did not take commercial offers. Play Philly bar circuit/same retro garb/hats/sunglasses.now "chic" in bands. funny how it's OK now.Dr. Dog was original/many bands imitate that sound/style. ironic to compare Dr. Dog to newer bands. Dr Dog always had lo-fi sound, no money to do high tech., did stuff on vinyl.made no money. Dr. Dog are just now gettin recognition for that.have stayed true their roots..
These guys really make some great music. it's old sounding but not at all lacking in originality. i'll always say that many songs remind me of the beatles, but never say that these FOOs aren't original
