  • we have the Largo In LA and Jon Brion to thank for this!

  • Truly awesome! Great song great Duet marvelous piano and best of all, Fiona Apple

  • Nice work!

  • Is this concert on DVD anywhere??? The clips from it are incredible.

  • if any body knows which concert this is from or where i can get the complete footage please contact me immediately! Thank You

  • @murattothechosenone The performance was from a VH1 special called "Decades Rock Live" filmed at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City in May 2006. I had the privledge to be in the audience during this concert. Probably the best show I've ever seen. Unfortunately, VH1 has no plans of releasing this on DVD, which is a crying shame in my book...

  • SO GOOD!!!!!!! TY

  • amaaaazing performance. as a footnote, the intensity of her eyes is amazing. sort of scary.

  • Piano's working overtime.

  • I bet he took her to his Imperial Bedroom after this show...

  • Fiona sexy Apple and the big Elv fantastic version of shabby doll

  • Wow... this is awesome. I don't know Fiona but that girl can sing. This is my fav Elvis song and she's done it right.

  • For Ian Young

  • Fioner Apple...haha

  • Fiona = Starstruck. The look on her face is priceless.

Elvis Costello = Coolest motherfucker since Miles (IMO). Love the shades, the jazzmaster. Got to see him last summer. 4 Encores. Ridiculous show!

  • Born to sing this song and any other song on the planet.

  • This woman, for some reason that is beyond me, was apparently born to sing this song.

  • Fiona Apple may move like a marionette controlled by an epileptic, but oh my god can she sing. I agree with the previous posters, you can tell she is so freaked to be there; her hands flying to her mouth at the end is as endearing as it gets. As great as this is, check out the "I Want You" cover she does with Elvis...if that doesn't give you chills, nothing will.

  • All Hail the Costello. Imperial Bedroom can cure most emotional issues and Fiona can come over any time! She is COMPLETELY enamored and freaked out when Elvis is rocking it (who wouldn't be??). Check out Fiona singing "I Want You"...mesmerizing in my humble opinion:)

  • Great song, great performance. Yeah, Fiona's a bit flat at first (poor monitor mix at first?), but once Elvis sings, she's got her bearings & it's on! I love the chemistry. Note the nod from Elvis, once the singing's over and the band's bringing it home. It's like she can't believe she's onstage with him. How can you not love her??

  • Yeah, fiona Apple is cool; just great listening to her, huh?

  • I never would have guessed "Shabby Doll" would work as a duet, but it does.

  • Hey! Where can I find mp3 of this song? Thnx

  • imperial bedroom

  • The look that Fiona gives Elvis at 3:19 is timeless. The intensity of the the melody and the lyrics is what makes the 'East Coast' Elvis an icon. Don't be afraid to listen to it twice!

  • Hey, which concert is this? Does anyone know if there is a torrent or DVD?

  • This was a concert at the Hard Rock in Atlantic City for VH1's "Decvades Rock Live" series. I had the lucky opportunity to be there for this show. Greatest 2 hours of my life, I have to say. Fiona totally stole the show from all the other guest stars...

  • i dont think she's an angry, hateful or bitter woman at all. Music begins where speaking ends. I think her music has helped her through a lot. I wouldnt put it past that she's messed up in the head, But She's a musical genius. She didnt have the best childhood either Listen to some of her interviews. she was raped at the age of 11 i think, in school she was called the dog of the school, while her sister was extremely popular, just do some research on her, u might be suprised what u find out.

  • I never understood when people say she seems angry and such. Some people write music, or poetry after something big happens in their life. She apparently spent most of her time, writing songs when someone monumental happened in her love life. Just because a lot of those songs are put on on CD does not mean that she is automatically a resentful bitter person. It just means that when she went through her years of writing, she felt those particular songs would be good on a CD.

  • This performance makes more explicit than ever a long-time theme of EC's work: the 'Batttle of the Sexes". FA's odd vocal stylings( the stutters, where she breathes and doesn't) only add tension... and not much release. To cabronte: yes, 'I Want You' works in perhaps an even more excruciating way. I don't want to hear it now; I'll save it for a rock postsript to the last mvmt. of Mahler's 9th.

  • My very fave Elv recording is Imperial Bedroom. I'm so infatuated with Fiona--eyes and voice. I think this is a great coupling. I think that "I Want You" is better but I'll take Fi singing Elvis any day.

  • why would anyone consider having there name inlaid with mother of pearl on thier fret board ?

  • Elvis' guitar is sweet and if the answer to your question is, "Because he can."

  • ..another answer is, "Because lots of guitar players do that, especially in old school Country music. He's just part of a long tradition."

  • kill yourself

  • Comment removed

  • fiona apple flipping rocks you flat pants'd fools

  • And 3:41 to 3:51 is a perfect example of her killer voice.

  • Fiona has an amazing voice, it's so husky and powerful. She looks and sounds amazing here. And she should cover more alt. rock type songs, her voice makes them sound like something else.

  • i dont really like to watch her have to share the stage.

  • ummm its with elvis costello, asshole. Get over it.

  • Umm, Elvis Costello is sharing the stage with her, not the other way around. Don't forget he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame when Fiona was working on her 3rd album.

  • @HoichiTheEarless the again, this woman is a stone-cold musical genius -- and there aren't many

  • i love this song but the verses needs ECs grit and grunt and she's too soft spoken for this song.

  • wow!i really loved this song!they are both great!i love FIONA!

  • Imperial Bedroom doesn't have a weak song on it.

I could see why alot of people wouldn't like the song "...And in every home" since it could come off as a tad pretentious but the song is great and only Costello would have the balls and creativity to write and record that

  • As Pope wrote, "the sound must seem an echo of the sense..." This song never sounded right, until now. Nicely done Fiona!

  • Go commit suicide.

  • elvis sounds kinda weard i think he messed it up but fiona is great like usual :D

  • Elvis sounds constipated and sneery as always, but La Apple is magical. I find the fact this video is tagged with 'glasses' extremely funny, by the way.

  • Does anyone know where I could get an mp3 of this?

  • You're ridiculous, everydayitstomorrow.

  • You're a mess.

  • Man...not a Fiona Apple fan but that was bad-ass.

    Thanks for posting.

  • good crew.

  • she looks better with curly hair ¬¬

  • Elvis is King

    Fiona, too

    dilly dilly

  • 19 May 2006 :)

  • what a trip

  • 2005 I believe.

  • simply rockin - does anyone know the year?

  • May 2006

  • He is the best song writer of all time I can prove it with the King of America album.

  • WTF, whilst I believe he is in the top 3 songwriters of all time, how many songs on KOA did he write?

  • He wrote all but maybe 3... "Sleep of the just." case and point

  • 1:32-2:17 I think, is particularly awesome.

  • its all awsome!

  • In an interview, Paul McCartney said Costello carries a bunch of notebooks around with him, all filled with phrases. Anything interesting he hears people say, he writes down, and a lot of it finds it's way into songs.

  • haha thats wat i do!

  • how the fuck does he come up with his lyrics?

    seriously,

    simply amazing

  • Imperial Bedroom is one of my all-time favorites. Maybe a couple of weak songs on the Lp but who cares.

  • same here, there are about 3 tracks that I don't care for, but that doesn't ruin the power of the record

  • One of the best pop/rock albums ever made.

One of the best music tours ever.

  • Elviona!

  • one of my favorite songs off "imperial bedroom" = great version!

  • Absolutely fantastic!

  • woooowhooo!

    love this version!

  • Fioner!

  • hahahha i noticed that too!

  • He's English. That's common pronunciation.

  • Dear Dominer-

Uhhh...I know. It's still funny to me. :)

  • Ah, metaphor - life without metaphor is death

  • It's amazing critics don't take Elvis Costello more seriously. I think Imperial Bedroom is one of the greatest albums of all time. Sometimes works of art come along that are so near perfect it's hard to believe the human race would be capable of creating such beauty. Sorry for being so sappy, but this album has it all: great musicianship, lyrics, and heart-pounding emotion. Too bad most people only know about "Alison" and "EveryDay I write the book".

  • Agreed. I saw him play a few months back at a Dylan show and people kept shouting for him to play "Peace, Love, and Understanding" and I kept thinking, why? He has so many great songs why keep requesting songs we've all heard a thousand times.

  • Because those are probably the same fools who still hold thier lighters up at Journey concerts. Mad fools.

  • The critics are taking him pretty seriously. It's the public that ought to be larger.

  • I love Fiona!

  • This is damn hot!

  • thanks so much for this! i really wanted this live performance for soooo long.

  • fuck yes, one of my favorites from imperial bedroom

  • I love her voice....she's awesome, and so is Declan.

  • Probably one of the greatest live performances I've ever had the pleasure of witnessing in my entire lifetime

  • "She's so assured, she's self-possessed. But, then again, she's half undressed."

"He wants to be a fancy man, but he's nothing but a nancy boy."

    EEK! I LOVE THIS!

  • Love this song off "Imperial Bedroom" - great rendition with Fiona.

  • fionas' a rock diva! awesome!

  • Fiona you bastard!!! we want/need more albums!!!

  • Fiona..living legend!

  • i love FIONA APPLE!

  • Man shes so good it blows my mind. WOW!

  • Awesome. Where did she come from? Heaven sent. Elvis looks really plum in this collaboration!

  • She has been around since 1996, but got known in 1997 when her hit "Criminal" came out. Rather scandelous (sp?) video that got her famous when MTV and VH1 played it. Her lyrics and voice were amazing, but she was mostly known for the videos and (not so) bad public stuff. When her second album (When the Pawn...) came out in 1999, the videos were much different and I guess because she wasn't in her underwear they didn't get much play on tv. Though it is just about the best album ever!! ...

  • Once again, lyrics and voice was amazing. In 2005, after many hassles, her 3rd album came out. Fans and critics loved it.

  • God, Fiona Apple is freaking amazing. And gorgeous!! How does one person have the right to be so wonderful. I guess her problems make up for it...

  • anyone else feel there is something about the music that shouldn't be there?...

i have no idea what it is...but there is too much of something.

    oh..yeah..i still loved it though.

  • I love this performance..... I love FIONA APPLE...ohhhh

  • Wow, great performance!

  • That was really amazing! This one of my fave Imperial Bedroom tracks, never dreamt of a cover by fiona.

  • Thank you so much for putting this up. I LOVE YOU!! :) I'd make other requests but I think I'm good with what I got! I love this duet, they need to do more stuff together.

  • I just put up Elvis covering "I Know"

  • Thanks! You rock! I'm so glad I gave you the link

to all this stuff, lol. I'd do it if I knew how...

  • First off all, thanks for putting it up. It's amazing!

Second, what year is this VH1 Classic performance from and how do I get a copy of the entire performance. I'm in LOVE w/ Fiona AND Elvis!

  • I'm pretty sure it was in 2006 - around May or April. I'm not sure how you can get the whole concert. There were more videos of it here on youtube, but I think many of them have been taken off. Other singers were Death Cab for Cutie and the Armstrong guy from Green Day. If there was a way to buy it, I would like to know too!
