It wouldn't be silly for the Doctor to show up; it would have made sense. Torchwood is in the Doctor who universe and on Earth, so considering how big the invasion was, he would normally have stopped it. Considering his good ties with Torchwood during these events and friendship with their leader, him showing up would have been good. But it was explained why he didn't show up.

Martah requested Torchwood's help before, but she was on her honeymoon, anyway.

All this speculation about the Doctor truning up to save the day. It would have been a cop-out. A simpls explanation for his non-intereferance would be that the Doc the event as a fixed point in time - it cannot be changed. All's well that ends well.

Well, if this is indeed the last we see of Torchwood I'm glad it struck at the emotional side to end it. With Gwen and Rhys ready to live a "normal" life together at last as Jack has gone away.

Frobisher's story was by far the backbone of this series, the acting from Capaldi was amazing and the part fitted him perfectly.

So you may see this as a giant "fuck up" but I see it as a very appropriate way to end what HAS been one of the best shows I've ever seen.

Torchwood Series 4 Rumours

While Children of Earth takes up most of the Torchwood coverage, we've already heard of plans for a fourth series are awaiting the go-ahead - and SFX Magazine reckon former Doctor Who script editor Andrew Cartmel could be on scriptwriting duties.

According to the CV posted on his agent's website, Cartmel is writing something called "The Jinx" for Torchwood Series 4.

Hi, thought it was a little dragging a bit but then it looking at trailer its the calm before the storm. Glad they showed the whole discussion on how to choose the children rather than passing it.

Martha's on hols in an exclusive resort...kids arent allowed...shes having so much fun playing polo, tea parties, japanese facials in the spa -she hasnt time to watch tv, listen 2 radio, call the doc, or make contact with other humans.

As for the doc...since the loss of donna we all know he didnt want any other assitants...so he chucked away his mobile so Captain J can't reach him....meanwhile the doc is on Gallifrey

I don't get why the doctor hasn't been called. I think thats the mistake of introducing a major character of another show into a similar show. As every time there is trouble we expect the doctor to come running. But I do kinda understand as in Journeys End everyone came together because the whole universe was at stake.

Ok. How about this? Martha is on her honeymoon and thinks Torchwood can handel it so she doesn't bother to call the Doctor. Once the hub is gone they have no way of contacting Martha to tell her to call the Doctor. Gwen even said in one of the episodes that she didn't have the numbers to contact people any more since they got rid of their phones. So they couldn't call the Doctor. And the Doctor is off somewhere doing something else
