I can't .. why does Phil Lanzon performing the part of song which must sing vocalist by his falcetto technique??...and I'm sure that Bernie can do that
This song has always been one of my favorite Heep songs. Bernie is very good but David was great. I still have the original studio version (from the album with the same name) on vinyl.
@raquelrocket Have we succeeded? We think so. Before long we shall have covered with our narratives an enormous period of time; between the "Comtesse de Salisbury' and the "Comte de Monte Christo" five centuries and a half are compresed. Well, we assert that we have taught France as much history about those five centuries and a half as any historian. This passage is from The Companions of Jehu which was written by Alexandre Dumas pere.
@raquelrocket This passage is from The incredible marquis by Herbert Gorman entitled the soldier of fortune(chapter six) It was natural that Dumas believed implicitly in the magic of somnambulism, in animal magnetism and in chiromancy. No Haitian negro dancing before his Voodoo altar was more superstitious than Dumas. Home, to Dumas, therefore, was an authentically inspired adept in communicating with unseen world.
@raquelrocket "The minority, the ruling class at present, has the schools and press, usually the Church as well, under its thumb. This enables it to organize and sway the emotions of the masses, and make its tool of them."
~ Albert Einstein, letter to Sigmund Freud, 30 July 1932
@raquelrocket "Behind the ostensible government sits enthroned an INVISIBLE GOVERNMENT owing NO allegiance and acknowledging NO responsibility to the people. To destroy this invisible government, to befoul this unholy alliance between corrupt business and corrupt politics is the first task of the statesmanship of today." PRESIDENT THEODORE ROOSEVELT, 1906
@jazzy4887 Between 1555 and 1931 the Jesuit Order was expelled from at least 83 countries, city states and cities, for engaging in political intrigue and subversion plots against the welfare of the state, according to the records of a Jesuit priest of repute(Thomas J. Campbell).-J.E.C. Shepard
@jazzy4887 "The public is practically unaware of the over wheming responsibility carried by the Vatican and its Jesuits in the starting of the two world wars-m a situation which may be explained in part by the gigantic finances at the disposition of vatican and its jesuits."---Edmond paris, The secret history of the Jesuits
Huh - I'd like to see the naysayers find a better live version. No, Bernie doesn't quite hit some of those high notes, but how many can? Overall, his interpretation is great, and this is excellently played and recorded live music. There are points where I think Lee is trying to drive the drums through the floor!
This happens to be one of my favourtie Heep songs too. And yes, it's not the same without Thain, Hensley & of course, the late, great David Byron. But I must admit, this version is good too. The song & the band take me back many years. Thank you guys for making the 70's music the best. I'm glad I was there for all of it.
Great band, great song! Uriah Heep forever!
