  • I thought you were supposed to lube up the tire while siping?

  • YES!!!!!

  • the odd rock or 2 i think he said.

  • sponsor our race team we do hit to pass in penticton and vernon

  • not to mention that siping makes youre tires last longer because it keeps the tire cooler, and most of your wear comes from heat caused by the friction...

  • @Bluesypunkrocker1

Have you actually measured this? Siping actually creates more heat due to the friction between between the sipes. Racers may even sipe their tires for short courses to help build heat (though, that siping is different than this). Siping only increases traction on soft surfaces like mud and snow, your tires will actually lose traction on all other surfaces... Even wet pavement. Handling sharpness is also decreased because the sipes introduce squirm into the tread blocks.

  • the sparks are the odd rock ot 2? I swear I saw studs in that tread when the closed in... please tell me you don't sipe over the old studs too...

  • @TooManySnakes No studes in the tire. That particular tire is not pinned for studs

  • Thanks! Informative :)

  • I've been working for a tire store for six years now and have never seen that before. Cool.
