@HaoSkywalker actually last year he recoverd a few muscles and there are few cases of people actually recovering fully. It would amazing if this happened to Becker
@westjt17 It would be miraculous if he made a full recovery, but his muscles would be very weak guys. He's have to learn how to do everything, again. Even guitar. But i'm really looking foward to "Not Dead Yet" also.
@KISSAceGenePaulPete1 It would be truly miraculous and quite unheard of for him to recover. No-one really recovers from ALS so let's not get our hopes up, just accept and support him as he is now :)
Respectable opinion, but I consider Malmsteen to be at a higher phase than Becker. Indeed Becker is a virtuoso guitarist, with great comprehension and understanding of the instrument, but Malmsteen is just the master of the Harmonic and Phyrgian. Both are great, but Malmsteen's articulation and technique is better then Becker's. I respect your statement, but I believe Malmsteen to be the better of the two.
@itchie88 lol, i was not really serious about that Malmsteen would actually want to play like this, everyone has their own style of expressing music. I just find Jason's music more personal and communicative, that's probably because Jason didn't have to deal with all those record companies, and he created much less compositions as he felt them. you're right about articulation and technique, but i believe that is due to the difference of time spent with the instrument.
the best, don't give a shit if any one one likes's this or not cos this isn't what matters..... I'm 19 AND WOW TAKE ME BACK JASON BECKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nothing can compare....maybe apart from Paganini......but a mastermind which a genius only can come come close, a long every couple of hundred years, and Jason was ours!!! Fuck God... Practice for ever... that's what it takes................
there are many very technically proficient guitarists out there, but there are very few musicians in general that are out there that really contribute something incredible to the world of music. this guy is one of them. he gets it. he's a genius. van halen and hendrix were geniuses in their own right because of the way the expanded technique and the overall sound of the guitar, but this guy is a musical genius. his compositions are amazing.
This is totally diffeent that Yngwie Malmsteen's works in terms of "neoclassical". Yngwie's guitarworks sounds like licks and passages lifted straight from some of Paganini or Bach's pieces. This piece of "air" however, seems be me like Bach himself wrote another song in the style of baroque
@shenkeey Probably because he is not interested in the same thing. He likes the slow, light, bland part. He's not really in it for technical guitar work.
@AtariMaxiToriyama Honestly I don't agree, it's not really comparable because this is on another level (I normally listen to other music, so don't think Im just taking beckers side ;3) :)

But when I can hear something that has energy, and is technical and melodic, I just go for power metal.
@AtariMaxiToriyama It's just more original and stuff, much like bach :) But I'm not gonna hate, because I've been in that powermetal-fase too and it rocked like hell! :)
@shenkeey If it's like Bach -- bare with me, now -- then how is it original? Ho ho hoooo.
But seriously, a lot of power metal has what we call "neo-classical flurries," wherein the guitarist breaks out into a classical segment, oftentimes directly lifted from Bach or Beethoven. Now I know what you're thinking: "If it's lifted from them, it's not unique!"
Sure, but how many of Beethoven's works have you heard? What about Bachs? What about the dozens of other classical composers? Not many, I bet.
@AtariMaxiToriyama Techniquewise its like bach, but the work is different.
Listen, I've been to that fase too! And actually; i listen to deathmetal and stuff too, so i know what im talking about haha :)
And to make things clear; I've played piano since the age of 5 every day for 3 hours at least; and I can say with confidence that I know most of the pieces out there :) Especially from Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Rachmaninoff etc :)
@AtariMaxiToriyama difference is when you hear jason becker you hear notes flying around beutifully, when you hear dragonforce you hear tones get kicked out of the guitar for no reason O_o.
@Ramboaction I suppose if you want to believe that, but I am a huge fan of music. I listen to what I listen to because it's energetic, technical, and melodic.
So it is my opinion that Dragonforce makes plenty of guitar solos that "fly around beautifully," but that, I suppose, is where we would have to agree to disagree.
I don't suppose you hold any other power metal band to a high standard either, though? (Rhapsody of Fire, Solar Fragment, Angra, Aquaria, Twilightning, Ancient Bards, etc)
@AtariMaxiToriyama People diss them because they dont play clean or in sync live, yet they are considered the greatest shredders ever when cacophony blew them out of the water
@TerrorizerGrindspeed See, but why are you saying that? Just search their most recent stuff on Youtube and you can clearly hear that they play excellently live. I actually prefer some of their live stuff to the studio version.
Saying that they cannot play well live is irrelevant, not only because it is not true, but because 98% of the time, you are going to be listening to the studio recording.
And once again, who cares what everyone else thinks? They sound good, what else matters?
@AtariMaxiToriyama Yeah exactly, their most recent stuff lol, check out their videos around when they started getting noticed, pretty terrible, of course theyre on it now, theyve had 3+ years to shape up their shit
@TerrorizerGrindspeed Everyone knows, though, that their first concert was awful because they could barely hear their own instruments, among other problems.
Now, I don't really care about the band on a personal level. They could all be drug-dealing crack-headed drunkards and it wouldn't bother me because I don't really have any interesting in defending a reputation.
I just feel that they are being unfairly lambasted. If you want to insult a band, insult Stratovarius' first couple albums.
@AtariMaxiToriyama Nawww not their first concert man they played terrible at wacken, but awww cmon I know timo sounds alot like malmsteen but he is a pretty good guitar player man
@realmsceo From what I've heard he is still composing on a computer by using hardware and software which tracks his eye movement. Too bad it goes so slowly though. He's only released 3 new songs since Perspective.

Dude, I just discovered this song yesterday and I've had it on repeat since...this song made me shit my pants!
Oh yeah, I also want this shit played at my funeral. Bless your soul, Jason...you'll get retribution in the next life, my friend...Shoulda never happened.
@jackgunt lol ok you need to chill i was just saying my opinion i know there great in their own way stop acting mature and dont bother replying back im not going to waist my time talking with you
@jackgunt lol ok you need to chill i was just saying my opinion i know there great in their own way stop acting unmature and dont bother replying back im not going to waist my time talking with you
There is no doubt that Jason would have been the Greatest muscian in the last 100yrs(1900-2000) and the next 100yrs (2000-2100) if this had not happened... He wrote this piece when he was 18....Now in his 40s, I am positive he would of written pieces that would easily beat the likes of Malmsteen, Batio, Gilbert, Satch,Vai,Petrucci, Cooley or any other shredder
@zeppelin25101980 I like buckethead... I like songs like Padmasana and soothsayer... im a quite a fan but jason is and will beahead of him... besides Paul gilbert taught buckethead alot and sort of helped him with his sound
@Alejandro1313sixx try welcome to bucketheadland, frozen brains tell no tails, droids assembly, squid ink, aunt suzie, a real diamond in the rough, peppers ghost, dawn appears, all in the waiting, and electric tears. I think you'll change your mind
@zeppelin25101980 Electric tears is pretty cool... Ive also heard "too many humans" Which is awesome! I also love marty Friedmans work... Have you heard "valley of Eternity" , "farewell" or "the yearning"???
@Alejandro1313sixx i didn't really like them. i'm more into Steve vai like "Building The Church" Joe satriani "revelation" and john petrucci "damage control" "curve" and dream theaters newist album is one of my favorits
I don't understand why the BEST people get taken away so quickly, Jason Becker, who is undoubtedly the best guitarist to ever walk on this planet, got ALS when he was 20 friggin' years old. Bruce Lee, undoubtedly the best martial artist of all time died when he was 32. Jimi Hendrix died when he was 27, and so did many, many more... it's just not fair. In the words of Robert De Niro: "If there is a god, he has a lot to answer for"
I agree it's sad, but to "undoubtedly" know things is silly. Becker is by far my favorite neo-classical shredder, but to know for a fact he is the best to ever live is silly. I can name tons of guitarists that are equally good virtuosos in their own rights. For instance, Becker can't touch Govan's blues/rock, Howe's fusion, or Romero's flamenco, but it doesnt mean he isn't a fantastic guitarist.

Getting vibes from all the greatest composers here, amazing to be able to fuse Bach, Mozart, Paganini, Grieg and so many others in one song.

If you like these guitarists
You should check these Andy Timmons, ( sounds like Satriani )
Kiko Loureiro ( sounds like a mix of Joe Satriani and John Petrucci )

There is no doubt that Jason would have been the Greatest muscian in the last 100yrs(1900-2000) and the next 100yrs (2000-2100) if this had not happened... He wrote this piece when he was 18....Now in his 40s, I am positive he would of written pieces that would easily beat the likes of Malmsteen, Batio, Gilbert, Satch,Vai,Petrucci, Cooley or any other shredder

In the words of Robert De Niro: "If there is a god, he has a lot to answer for"
Pulsuhundur 9 months ago 5
@Pulsuhundur you're absolutely right . and this fact pisses me off so damn bad . cause we have people that should'nt even be alive .
crissfoo96 9 months ago
@Pulsuhundur
SirDa5id 8 months ago
@SirDa5id You seem to misunderstand the definition of 'Neoclassical guitar'
RCCola339 8 months ago
@RCCola339 I'm not even sure what you're trying to say, but cool story bro.
SirDa5id 8 months ago
@SirDa5id I meant flamenco isn't Neoclassical. Also, old joke is old.
