  • Anytime I hear people sing the song for tebow I think of this because it's the same tune. Ehy would they choose the evil guards song from wizard of oz?

  • These soldiers scared the 7734 outta me when I was little....

  • ya know....for someone who doesn't have a brain, the scarecrow sure does have quite a few ideas

  • whats the name of the guards song

  • isnt that a ku kux klan chant?

  • @iyvurcu your racist bitch

  • great..let the one without a brain come up with the plan. lol TEEEEBOW! OHHHH OHH

  • 0:28-0:36

I always thought those soldiers were scarier than the flying monkeys. Their chant used to creep me out.

  • Lol my school band is scottish and we wear hats like that haha

  • I WISH I HAD ABOUT 1800 OF THOSE SOLDIERS AS MY GUARDS THAT WOULD BE SO BADASS

  • @BlackSpittingCobra oh come on people i know damn well im not the only one that likes these badass soldiers

  • Teeeeboww.

  • 0:36 Green Stormtroopers much?

  • i love this song

  • oooh weeee oh, teeeeebow

  • @amentele1 Glad there was someone here to confirm this.

  • This movie is a classic. Please don't compair this to Mettalica. The fact that this movie has been around as long as it has must tell you something.

  • I searched for this video, cause I needed to see the origins of metallica's frayed ends of sanity intro and I'm not impressed. metallica's version is way better.

  • Love the Wizard of Oz!! Amazing!!

  • does anyone know what the subliminal message the guards are chanting? i'm very curious!!!

  • It's "oh we loathe, the old one"

  • @reallystupidutube There's also a rumor that they were saying "All we own, we owe."

  • "OREOoOoOoO MOREEEE RUM!!"

  • I love this part but it's kind of odd. They are marching and chanting similar to the K.K.K. and their uniforms are inspired from Indian military dress uniforms from hundreds of years ago.

  • "all we own, we owe"

  • WORST MOVIE

  • O WE OWN... LINOLEUM!

  • I remember my brother telling me how they showed this movie in class and one of the kids called out "It's the KKK!!!" when the guards were shown guarding the castle.

  • I watched this movie every year until I was 19. This was one of my favorite parts. My favorite one was when they went to see the wizard the first time.

  • Does anyone know what those pikes or halberds are called that the Winkie Troops use?

  • @leegeorgeson they are probably Glaives from their structure of the spikes being in the back instead of the front of the blade. Though I don't know the specific name for them.

  • @BloodZerker I think they are Pole-Glaives too :)

The design is probably specific for the movie though...

  • I looked up the original script online and I discovered that the Winkie Guard chant is actually "Ooo - eeeee - hoo! Yooo - ho! Ooo - eeeee - hoo! Yooo - ho!" What does it mean? No idea!

  • 0:30 Metallica's The Frayed Ends of Sanity, intro.

  • you can see where the edits took place when the scenes jump from the group to the witch and the guards. somewhere out there.. there is the two hour version called the POMOmA SCREeNING PREVIEW

  • @etrax2000 I really wish we could see the full version before it was edited down :(

  • They look like soldiers from the Red Army, lol

  • @MisterBeaucoup Red Fears were common back then and nothing new either :)

  • @Vespertilioeptesicus

they already did, the wiz! :C

  • @Vespertilioeptesicus I hope he doesn't do a remake of this. This is classic.

  • @CHCHuser

they already did, the wiz! :C

  • @boxbag19 That movie was pretty good. Weird, but still okay.

  • oh look, the witch has green stormtroopers.

  • OOOOOOOOOOOOHEEEEEEHUUUUUM....EHOOOOOOOOOOOHUM!!!

  • The winkies march to count that's what are they saying they are counting

  • oh we are

    the olllld one!

  • WHAT THE FUCK ARE THEY SAYING???

  • @ezekielwahwah I think they're saying "All we own, we owe"

  • @johnhamilton08

    they r say yo-hee-ho yo-ho

  • @boxbag19No,they love Nabisco cookies!LOL.Sounds alot like they're OREO,YOO-OOOH...!!HEH.

  • Even as an adult I still love watching this. It used to come on every March . To think that this had the misfortune of debuting the same year as Gone with the Wind

  • This movie was WAY Ahead of its time 100% Masterpiece

  • @superjumper19 Smoke weed to this movie awesome experience!!

  • @superjumper19 Ur rite maybe someone used a time machine

  • When I was a kid, they did not have DVDs or VCRs. I can remember the first time that I saw it in color. I was 12 years old. I did not realize that the scarecrow was quoting the phythareom therom because I did not learn it until I was in the 10th grade. Now, that is a question that they would have on "Are you Smarter Than a 5th Grader".

I loved this movie and watched it ever year until I was 19. I used to always come on around Easter time in the '70s,

  • thumbs up for the winkie march!

  • @thetripledoubleZ hmmm... no thumbs up yet, huh? lol.

  • My father didn't have a sense of humor, but to my dying day, I will always remember how he laughed his head off when he saw the cowardly lion's tail wag through the soldier's uniform. Every year, around Christmas I could depend on the Wizard of Oz and that terrific scene to get a big laugh out of my dad.

  • That piece of music played in that scene is the basis for the Metallica song "Frayed Ends of Sanity." :)

  • They got it all wrong . avatar is not the greatest achievement in movie history , The Wizard of Oz is . Notice how I did not upper case avatar but I did for The Wizard of Oz . It has no place with this movie .

  • KC MO, ROLLLLLLL

  • "O we loathe... the Old One!" I'm surprised they got away with singing that.

  • I love how the Scarecrow is the smartest, the tinman is the most sensitive and the cowardly lion is..... a coward....

  • FRAYED END OF SANITY haha

  • it still scares me. especially the flying monkeys.

  • I hate how TBS cuts to commercial break just before they march into the castle. Talk about poor timing.

  • This scared

  • i totally forgot just how B A D D A Z Z Z Z !!! this IS !!!

  • Dressing up in enemy uniforms...just like Star Wars lol.

  • Damn. shoulda been one for Halloween!

  • @2:33 is my favorite part where the music picks up.

  • Love this movie :)

  • tech n9ne has this chant he does at his concert because he has kansas affiliation he says K-C MO!!! ROLLLLL!!!!!

  • One of my favorite parts of the movie for some reason

  • Metallica - The Frayed Ends Of Sanity

  • @defleppard741 Oh wee oh, wee oooooooh!

  • After seeing the Broadway musical Wicked, I have trouble watching this movie in the same way I did when I was a kid. Mostly because in the back of my mind I keep on thinking, (SPOILER) "the Scarecrow slept with the Witch, the Scarecrow slept with the Witch, the Scarecrow slept with the Witch"... yeah...

  • @KnightWolf214: But that's only the musical...or is it? I mean, it was said that the Scarecrow running the Emerald City was different than Dorothy's traveling companion, with the idea that every scarecrow looks alike to both humans & animals (and Animals) alike. Ditto for Elphaba literally melting in the novel. Even despite that, there was this tagline near the end about how the witch seemingly died, yet could come back at a given time (to which she did in the sequel, as her son's baby).

  • This was always my favorite part of this movie

  • Glad there are others that think there are real words. I thought it was "all we are, we are" The men are singing throaty. Probably right there are no words..maybe a letter to a museum would answer the question once and for all.

  • WINKIES ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Did you know that the Wizard of Oz symbolized the US Industry at that time period?

Just google it....its really interesting to read about....

  • i luv when the simpson pay homage to the winkies, O mr. burns, you would have winkies guarding your house ,lol

  • winkies march my fav

  • Am I the only one who thinks of The Frayed End of Sanity by Metallica at 0:31?

  • @GrandmaTuffits nope, it's deliberate. also search for "west side story - america", you'll find that song familiar too. they also start every concert with "ecstacy of gold" from "the good the bad and the ugly"... they like movies.

  • @blacxthornE Yeah, I knew about the west side story song with Don't Tread On Me, and yeah, they must really like movies.

  • @GrandmaTuffits LOL me too!

  • @GrandmaTuffits no ur not i love that damn song

  • @djzwilly What?

  • Scared the shit out of me too. I had horrible, abusive piano teacher at this time and she rode a bike just like the Wicked Witch. I'm 54 and I'm still traumatized by her.

  • I first thought the words were, "All we own, we owe her." but it turns out there are no words to it at all! The chant just goes, "O-Ee-Yah! Eoh-Ah!". Weird, huh?

  • Oh, I'd so rather be a Winkie than a Munchkin. They rawked. The *original* Imperial Stormtroopers.

And the Witch had it all: The best castle. The best army. The best theme song. The hour-glass. The tall pointy hat. The broom. The winged monkeys. And, almost, and rightfully, the ruby slippers.

She only *lost* because the damned author / screenwriters were on the other side. Dorothy. Pft. That noob.

  • gotta admit, those guards got pretty cool uniforms, wouldnt mind having one myself lol

  • made me think of star wars new hope when luke and han disguise themselves as stormtroopers

  • That is one fierce changing of the guard, take that Queen Elizabeth!

  • I love it when the witch throws the hourglass on the floor and kaboom

  • I always love it when the witch throws the hourglass on the floor and kaboom!

  • O we Loathe... THE OLD ONE!!!!

Man when i was a little kid... i wore this movie out three times.... even teh DVD version!!! XD

  • Wow the Lion BARKS!!! LOL

  • Elphabas castle lol

  • hey the frayed ends of sanity lol oh wey oh ohhhhhh woh

  • the soliders at 0:29 are used in metallicas song frayed ends of santiy

  • Thank you for posting part of an amazing movie without doing a stupid, unfunny and immature voice over with it. Too many people keep doing that and its pissing people off! So thank you again for this awesome clip :) xoxoxoxo

  • This scared the shit out of me when I was a little kid

  • @aggiefitz me too :D

  • @aggiefitz

its still creepy to me! probably because it reminds me of how scared i was as a kid. like when they all march in, i get the chills. creeeepy stuff.
