This aired when I was in elementary school...suffice to say that I now understand all of the jokes :) NBC aired three Spitting Image specials between 1986 and 1987; the other two were "Down and Out in the White House" and "The Ronnie and Nancy Show".
HaHaahhh!! I love it! The running gag of Pacino, Hoffman and DeNiro is still priceless! Ohhh how I've missed this special since the VHS tape it was on in my household died a horrible mangled death in the VCR. *sniff* Many thanks for posting this!
Oh, my goodness. THANK YOU for posting this. I have been looking for this episode for years, but was so obscure I couldn't find it anywhere! I have been trying to explain to people for so long that the Alien's name is Gavin - and no one believed me. Now I have the proof! Thank you again, again, and again! This brings back the best memories ever.
Thanks for posting saw this when i was a kid and had a VHS copy i accidentally recorded over, very funny stuff. even as a kid i thought this was awesome
OMG I haven't seen this in more than 20 years , I'm glad I woke up early and started watching VH1 Classics Totally 80's , when the video for Land of Confusion by Genesis came on I remembered the puppets and this show !!! AWESOME THANKS FOR PUTTING THIS UP
Thanks for posting this. My dad has a copy of this on Beta, and needless to say, it's been a while since I've seen it. I'm old enough to actually appreciate the jokes now. :)
I used to watch Spitting Image in the 80's and thought it was hilarious no one was safe from being lampooned. Thatcher government was lampooned everyone was lampooned at the time. I think they start making the show again and lampoon the so called famous people of today would be hilarious I could just imagine them lampooning the self important Simon Cowell and Kate and Pete. Bring back Spitting Image.
Thanks for this, kind sir, you're a knight. This is probably one of the rarest Spitting Image specials out there - even auction sites and trading posts don't hold up
The puppets remind me of the drawing style of the great Mad magazine artist Mort Drucker.

It's too bad Spitting Image never caught on in America. I loved all three of the specials that aired here. They were absolutely hysterical.

To be fair, that was when the Star Trek movies were all coming out rapid fire. He didn't really have TIME for anything else.
Still, it is rather amusing.

David Frost's puppet is certainly realistic, though less annoying than the real life version.

Most of the puppets are spot on except Tom Cruise who looks like Micheal Jackson. Tom has huge teeth IRL there's comedy gold there.
