The purpose of the movie was for entertainment, which I think it definitely did well. It was made for a younger "Disney" audience, but Tim did what he could to make Underland dark. As for the story? I really liked it! And truth be told, there is only so much you can do if you stick to the original Alice story (the first movie put me to sleep). Putting Hatter and the other Wonderlanders in a main focus really helped!

Remember that this is Underland, not the Wonderland we all know and love. It is true, Burton fiddled with the story a little too much for my liking, but I still thought it was an okay movie. It was PG, for heaven's sake. Made for children. I'd bet he'd make a better one if it was for an older crowd.

I am a huge Tim Burton fan, and I just watched it yesterday. Let me tell you at times this movie is unwatchable, to be honest I took off my 3D glasses just so that I wouldn't be able to see it any more. The story is incoherent, its slow, dull, predictable, and really a pain to watch. Save your money, don't give into the hype as I did. Movies like this should not be made by such a high caliber production.

Its the worst movie ever. The real story was about her trying to get out of wonderland, not kill some stupid monster. The story i remembered was colorfull and happy not dark, gloomy and drastic.

Folks, I'll be honest, while this movie wasn't BAD per se, it was a little too tame and incoherent to really make for good cinema.

If you want to watch a grown up/messed up version of Alice in Wonderland, then save your money and troll around for a copy of the PC game "American McGee's Alice." You won't be dissapointed.

i watched the movie in 3D and I can say that it's pretty good, the story is not that good, but the lead actors are GREAT!!! Depp, Mia, Helena !! Those three were really in their characters.

I know its your own opinion and I dont want to start a fight, but tim burtons movies aren't meant to be exactly like the original. They're meant to take the characters and remake them in his own way. And btw the story isn't changed, its a new story thats set up as a sequel to the original story (not an exact sequel to the cartoon one, if you know what i mean)

Just saw it in IMAX 3D, I enjoyed it, even though it does have it's problems. I.E. the incredibly out of place dance sequence near the end of the film. 7/10. Tron Legacy trailer in front of it was mindblowing.

In thebook Alice is a passive character whos' purpose is to experience things so that the reader can experience them vicariously through her, and it works perfectly.

The plot in the movie is worrying me because it looks like it may be a huge cliche, do we need another fantasy tale about a "chosen one" who has to save another world?

I would like to see some one eventually do an accurate adaptation of "Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There", now that would be a beautiful film.

@youcandance12345 Yes this will be a sequel of Alice coming back as a 19 year old girl now, and not remembering very well. But the citizens of wonderland remember her! I can NOT wait for this to come out... counting the days and wearing all the Alice In Wonderland stuff I can, I even have my own Mad Hatter blanket. Surprisingly, its really soft and comfortable. Tim Burton's always a success with Johnny Depp and Danny Elfman, only 21 more days!
