I'm sooo glad Matt came back and is on vocals. His voice is so versitile and he brings so much to the band. If only they would do a tour in Australia, I would buy a ticket to every show i could possibly go to
It sucks though, Iced Earth are one of my top 10 (if not 5) bands and I still haven't seen them. I've seen all the classics but Iced Earth never comes to Texas or when they come within a reasonable distance it's horrible timing.

The only Iced Earth vocalist now & always in my mind - a shame that 2 amazing albums musically and lyrically suffered without him; hopefully they'll re-record them or at least do another high quality live CD. I'd love to hear him sing the new stuff.
I don't think anyone could have sung The Glorious Burden songs better than Owens. To me it was a far better vocal performance than anything Barlow has done. Not that Barlow is any slouch.
I dunno man, Barlow wrote the lyrics for Attila so it probably would have been the shit with him singing it... I'd love to hear the record before they scrapped Matt's vocals and brought Tim in. I think he could have done When the Eagle Cries ten times better.
Remember, Barlow did lay down vocals for that album, but Shaffer didn't like them. You know he always wrote music with a voice like Ripper's in mind. The only reason Barlow is back is because of you whiney fans that can't handle change. If Ripper would have come first you would all prefer him.
For which? Glorious Burden? I know he did, but that was also after Matt tried to quit to try to focus on his family life and another career, Shaffer convinced him to stay, and with that in mind, anyone would do an inferior job if their heart isnt in the project. I don't disrespect Tim Owens as a singer in general. He can sing, as well as hit notes. But as a frontman he is boring, to a very, very sad extent. Also he doesn't sing with any emotion. can't be wrong dude, we like Matt because when he is in front of a crowd, he puts on a show. He doesn't get up there, hold the mic like he wishes he was Rob Halford, and sing because it's his job to do so. Matt gets the crowd into the show and sings with emotion in his voice because being a musician is his passion, else he would not have come back. This is a neverending debate, but it comes down to personal preferrence and all the Ripper fans have to deal with Matt being the singer of Iced Earth
Not only contribueting to the real world, Matt also wanted to make sure that financially he was secure, because he wanted to start a family. Having researched the music industry a lot myself, beeing in a band is not always the gig with the most job security. Even for a "big name" band like Iced Earth nothing is for certain. Matt wanted that little extra cushion to fall on just in case...Great song and video by the way!!

It sucks though, Iced Earth are one of my top 10 (if not 5) bands and I still haven't seen them. I've seen all the classics but Iced Earth never comes to Texas or when they come within a reasonable distance it's horrible timing.

The only Iced Earth vocalist now & always in my mind - a shame that 2 amazing albums musically and lyrically suffered without him; hopefully they'll re-record them or at least do another high quality live CD. I'd love to hear him sing the new stuff.

I don't think anyone could have sung The Glorious Burden songs better than Owens. To me it was a far better vocal performance than anything Barlow has done. Not that Barlow is any slouch.

I dunno man, Barlow wrote the lyrics for Attila so it probably would have been the shit with him singing it... I'd love to hear the record before they scrapped Matt's vocals and brought Tim in. I think he could have done When the Eagle Cries ten times better.

Remember, Barlow did lay down vocals for that album, but Shaffer didn't like them. You know he always wrote music with a voice like Ripper's in mind. The only reason Barlow is back is because of you whiney fans that can't handle change. If Ripper would have come first you would all prefer him.

For which? Glorious Burden? I know he did, but that was also after Matt tried to quit to try to focus on his family life and another career, Shaffer convinced him to stay, and with that in mind, anyone would do an inferior job if their heart isnt in the project. I don't disrespect Tim Owens as a singer in general. He can sing, as well as hit notes. But as a frontman he is boring, to a very, very sad extent. Also he doesn't sing with any emotion. You can call us whiney, but 95% of Iced Earth fans

can't be wrong dude, we like Matt because when he is in front of a crowd, he puts on a show. He doesn't get up there, hold the mic like he wishes he was Rob Halford, and sing because it's his job to do so. Matt gets the crowd into the show and sings with emotion in his voice because being a musician is his passion, else he would not have come back. This is a neverending debate, but it comes down to personal preferrence and all the Ripper fans have to deal with Matt being the singer of Iced Earth

Everything isn't about money my friend. When Matt leaved IE he felt that he didn't contributed anything to the "real world" outside Metal and Rock!

Not only contribueting to the real world, Matt also wanted to make sure that financially he was secure, because he wanted to start a family. Having researched the music industry a lot myself, beeing in a band is not always the gig with the most job security. Even for a "big name" band like Iced Earth nothing is for certain. Matt wanted that little extra cushion to fall on just in case...Great song and video by the way!!
