1st chord: D D D DU  UD DUDU

2nd chord: DUDU DU UP DU DU

I think that person means there are different ways of playing a chord as in..

Playing a D on the first fret is the same as playing a C on the third fret. You are teaching the easier way to play. Not the original way it was recorded. But good video anyway..

Basic (first position?) chords

It really depends on the song for which you use.

Like for a smooth transition when changing the chords.

You don't wanna move from the 10th Fret up to the 2nd.

The capo. Lol, actually you don't really need to but it won't be in the same key as the original song. Lots of people change the position of a capo for covers so they can sing with it. Since some people can't sing that high or low depending on the song. Hoped that helped... I sorta rambled on, oops. :)
