The worst part is that the labor laws wont ever change. People would rather stock up on the coolest nikes than worry about the hardships the workers go through to make those shoes.
I have an Indonesian friend who lives poorly while I live happily in America. I havent heard from him. I was just curious of the certain hardships they face. I wanted to cry when I saw this...We sure do need to think about other human beings in this world...<3LOVE
What's wrong with me? I spent 20 years at school - 12 as a student, 8 as a teacher. School is a cruel place. It wrecked my life, and it wrecks the lives of countless children.
@hark1968 I don't know about your experiences but without education our world wouldn't be as developed as it is today. Atleast some parts of it. Infact most of the underdeveloped countries are so because of the lack of education. Sure the educational institutions have to be improved a lot, no doubt about that. But any education is good. Without learning from each other, we are no different than any other primitive species.
There is actuallt a film called "Bad Education" (La mala educacao) which would be one of many sources that might help you reconsider this generalization...
But I'm not saying that LEARNING is a bad thing. In fact I think that school is an EVIL institution first of all because it kills the natural passion for learning in children!
@hark1968 Hmm well ok, let's say for a minute that school is "evil" even though there is no such thing as "evil", it's a religiously influenced word. So what do you suggest we do? And what makes the schools "evil"?
- School makes children dwell on things they're not interested in and learn by heart things they will soon forget anyway, and leaves them with little opportunity to follow their own interests and develop their talents.
- School turns a lot of people into outsiders - either because they don't have the talents the curriculum asks for, or the other way round, because school-type learning comes too easily to them.
@hark1968 While I certainly agree with you and share similar views, I still think school education is necessary, atleast till a certain age. And education should never be forced on children specially by parents. But our world and society forces us as we grow up to serve this meaningless system. We're basically being programmed to serve a system in the name of education. It's not your parents fault or your fault. The monetary system is a flawed system that we live under.
I feel horrible by watching it, I feel like we all let such things happen... How is it possible that people can do this to their sisters and brothers? We're worse than animals: they kill to survive, we kill for money.
My mom used to be one of these workers I hope Child labour could stop its not fair in working hours then their pay I do wish this video gets more views and help see how lucky we are to have a good life than these people that are suffering just to pay for the help of their family.
child labor is wrong..children should be able to run and play and go to school not waste their lives working all the time, these cruel people are robbing them of their childhood! This has to be stopped!
Child labor definitely needs to be stopped, but how the hell can we get people to stop sending their kids to work in order to put some food on the table? hopefully this video wakes people up and has them contribute to make life in these countries better
being able to see all of the facts and how big the numbers really had a strong effect on me while watching the video. so was being able to see images of the conditions that so many children live and work in everyday...this was a really touching video!
This is a great video allen! It's incredibly informative and rendered with sensitivity. I really liked how you incorporated your own pictures to make the video relevant to the SAS student community; it really made me think not just about how fortunate my life is, but also the fact that there are things that can be done to help those children in need. Impressive for a 3 minute video!! Awesome job!
This is insanity...

children's rights should be protected. It is sad that big businesses continue to abuse children.

"Unlike us, many are not ALLOWED to go to school" ???
Are we "allowed" to go to school??? We are FORCED to go to school.
Many kids in the West would much rather go to work than go to school.
And more often than not, the WORK they're forced to do at school doesn't help at all to prepare them for their future lifes...
Not that I'm in favour of child labour - but very often I guess the factories are actually the better schools...
