@ipskurt101 Sorry bout that. Truly, I just kinda have anger issues, especially when it comes to people drowning, for various reasons, and it just seemed like it was preventable, which really angered me. I really shouldn't have said anything as I didn't know the whole story. As such I really am terribly sorry for what I said.
They were wearing neoprene drysuits, you recognize it by the zipper across the the back.
Ice diving is very beautiful... most people who do it do it just once for the kick... like in anything else, you have to be careful, prepare well, and use the right equipment.
It looked like these guys were just wearing wet suits. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't a dry suit for cold water dives? Is there an experienced diver out there who can answer this?
Its cold. I dunno. I dont ever want to do diving enless its in a swimming pool. Well i cant even do that. If he got water in his lungs wuldnt he also get frost bite from the frezing water.
Normally the pupils in the eye react to light, opening wider in dark rooms to let in more light, and getting smaller in response to light. When pupils are fixed and dilated or don't react appropriately to light, it is generally a sign of brain injury or death.
Why did the guy give up the octopus air thing? I thought the guy with the working air tank had an extra so I don't understand why the guy didn't continue to use it?
I had the same thought. It doesn't even look fun- just risky and uncomfortable. But I am sure there are people who love ice diving on Youtube who will answer that question... personally I am curious.

@5:12 LOL - mullet.
Seriously, though, this is a sport I wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole.

Didn't they dehydrate all the air while doing air fill? That should have reduced ice block.

they were wearing neoprene drysuits, you'll notice by the zipper on the back across the shoulders and the air valves on the chest and left arm. :)

1. They should never have assumed it was a stuck rope. When in doubt, pull them back.
2. NEVER Dive in Cold Water. Even when trained and equiped properly, it is a huge risk above and beyond just diving at all.

People coming around after CPR is fairly common now but people walking after CPR is still a rare occasion.

I agree that if Joe and Lynn had bought regulators that could be used for ice-diving, this incident wouldn't have happen.

This wasn't a sport. The people were practicing for a winter diving rescue or recovery. They are part of a rescue dive team
