Being Canadian I do believe that a portion of the arctic is clearly attached to Canada and it is sovereign to us, however i also believe that some of the arctic is somewhat closer to other land masses. But if you think about the theory of plate tectonics the world was once one large continent and shifting of the plates caused the continent to split. So laying claim over the arctic is really like walking into the middle of an other country and claiming that this is you land.

Canada and Russia are actually the main to people in that area. Now I for one don't give two shits if Russia wants to claim area's in the eastern hemisphere, but the area's in the western hemisphere belong to us Canadians. Our nation has promised to use force if needed. If it comes to that we have many allies that will come to our aid. My friend who lives near the North-West Passage truly owns the arctic. So do all of the Inuits, and their ancestors who have lived in the arctic for THOUSANDS OF YEARS. They as Canadians have lived their all their life. The north does NOT belong to the U.S. OR Russia. It belongs to Canada and the Inuits.

Being Canadian I do believe that a portion of the arctic is clearly attached to Canada and it is sovereign to us, however i also believe that some of the arctic is somewhat closer to other land masses. But if you think about the theory of plate tectonics the world was once one large continent and shifting of the plates caused the continent to split. So laying claim over the arctic is really like walking into the middle of an other country and claiming that this is you land.

If the USA respects international law then Canada will win out HUGE in this matter but the USA knows that it cannot recognize the law of the sea for the reason that it wants the Northwest Passage to remain an 'international waterway' so it can do whatever it wants up there. In 1944 after Kursk Germany was already defeated that was just a question of time,allied intervention in which +1/3 were europeans,was just relevant in the way western Europe didn´t become under Soviet Union grasp,which was not so bad as it seems,as all Europe would have been united,something the US always feared,with that industrial power,and geopolitic position,it would be capitalism falling not communism,and thats why US entered in here,and in Japan,to save its own ass.

US forces protected western Europe from the Soviets,but we payed it,and the marshall plan,with immense interests,making the USA a superpower,forgiving whole US debt in the 70´s,why should we be thankful for that?

Those territories are not yours Im sorry,you enter there,it will be internationally considered a invasion of danish territory,and Canada will be severely penalized,and if need be it will be defeated in combat,we have a army 1/4 of your nation in size,with the best weaponry in the world(exported even to the US),and with just national technologies,not all european tech combined.

@ViriathusVingathor So after the defeat of Russia in the cold war you’re saying it would have been “OK” to be ruled by a totalitarian oppressive regime that stripped countries of their entire culture and resourses and live under a totally corrupt system and to be subject to abuse by the military and secret police and to be forced to speak Russian as they were in Poland and have your families end up missing. The Indians are closer to us economically,the Chinese are more integrated with us . the Eu is on the verge of bankruptcy with collapsing economies right now and there wouldn’t be anything left of Europe anyway because even conventionally we could decimate your continent very quickly.

LOL,you don´t know of what you are talking,at least 30% of the US economy is owned by Europe,unlike us towards them,they can´t repay their debts towards us,so they sell treasury bonds,50% of US scientist community comes from Europe,including their tech is purchased to medium/small enterprises in Europe,by the big corporations in the US.

Most EU debt is ilegitimate,due to US manipulations,goldman sachs executives were placed controling the greek economy,US economy indicators and the dollar values are also fruit of that manipulation by the WB, IMF,and Wall street,and the newly created credit agencies all sediated in the US,being the last,authentic criminals at the service of the dollar and the US banks,and BTW US is nearly bankrupcy,if it wasn´t the dollar value the US economy would be over,as it has no real value.

Conventionally we have better and more diverse small arms(imported by the US),far better tanks(imported by Canada) better subs(proven capable in Nato exercises to be undetectable to the whole US fleet and main east coast radars),better interceptors/multi role(eurofighter defeated 2 times more expensive f-22,and in other round 2 F15 the main fighter in the USAF)

US has more nukes,(we have enough to destroy US and Canada several times) more carriers,greater navy,and far more navy aircrafts(all that would prove inefficient as in modern naval warfare who has better subs dominates the seas,destroyers,and battleships are almost obsolete)

Was the US grateful for the french who saved them from being smashed by the british,and the immense european investment in the US in the XIX/first half of the XX century,which literally build the country, the answer to that lies in 1940,when Europe was in war hence in a weak position,the US processed all western european property in the US,never returning it back.

@ViriathusVingathor If you talk about US appreciation of the French they were nothing but ponds in Frances vendetta against the British after their defeat at Quebec.The French continued to bully the Amreicans after the war of independence to point whereby the US was ready to declare war on them. And not forgetting what you would lost with it mostly if you allied with the US the only way you have to conventionally resist(the UK has its economy too dependent of the EU to take your side if they did they would end paying becoming a bankrupted country) Europe,in the event of a war,Nato would be over,and we would have no problems in joining with Russia and China,destroying N.American interests all over Euro Asia,Africa and South America.

Your military technology is no better than ours and we have proven our capabilities in real war situations. We also have the best trained infantry in the world equal to many countries special forces in addition to Special forces

@ViriathusVingathor China is Not an ally of Russia in terms of military or economic obligation .Your scenario incidentally is one of World War not Eu vs.North America The F22 is not the best dog fighter as you know .You won’t be able to fight it if you can’t see it. The J35 will take out anything Europe has and our pilots are better trained. I believe Britain alone could defeat Europe in an air war, not that they would.

J-35 is also developed by the EU,as the US couldn´t develop it alone,and will also serve in the EU,(still is in test flights)your pilots and soldiers are not better trained they sometimes come here,thinking they are the best ,and end learning the hard way that we have much better soldiers and pilots,as technology,they use to lose in most Nato exercises.
US soldiers were once described by europeans as "teenagers with guns".
