Been there, done that. I did, actually, lose my entire Beatles collection in a divorce. Still fuming after all of these years...also some Joan Baez and all The Weavers.
So glad you found yours! My Corries, unfortunately, are all on tape. Harder to work with.
And thank you for your comment. I am one of many lovers of Scottish music, and the country itself. Have many wonderful memories of our visits and friends there.
Oh Ok. Thanks For That. Im from Scotland and ive lived here all my life, im surprised i didnt know there was a town called Ettrick :/ But anyway thanks
@Hardy5934 Listen to the lyric guys. She is in the Ettrick Valley (first line) which is where the Ettrick Water runs on its way to Selkirk. There is no town of Ettrick.
Gee ho, the lassie of Ettrich resembles one of my great aunts! Kinda scary. The melody does hark a mite of "Roddy McCorley" Really nice. Wee Willy John
Ummm....isn't this a variant of "Spanish Lady"?

One of the Corries' finest! They were going through a mandolin phase at the time and it's a great sound.
BTW, I'm pretty sure the lady in the picture is a very young Queen Victoria!!

It could be, but I took this portrait from one of a Scottish lady, to go with the song. Her identity I do not know. C.

I Don't Completely Understand. What is Meant By Ettrick Lady ??
Hardy5934 2 years ago
Hardy, The Ettrick Lady is a lady who lived in the town of Ettrick, Scotland. Could be any pretty lady who wants a handsome man.

Top hole mate. Is there any association between the lady in this painting and the song?
DaveWBedford 2 years ago
Not that I know of, except she is Scottish and looks the part. Thanks for listening

Ok thanks. As far as old time chicks go she's not bad. Hotter than Flora McDonald.
DaveWBedford 2 years ago
Ah, yes, but could she row as well as Flora?
