man i was a directv customer for a long time and they sucked to me because when we were with them (i currently have cable) we couldnt change to hd without paying 200 dollars since we were customers for over 4 years and then we always had signal problems they were the worst the only thing that was good was the nfl sunday ticket but they sucked at that as well when we got it for a first and last time they automatically charged us for the next year and tryed to charge us even higher

@rockar203 DirecTV's Emmy awards were for their interactive Mix channels (Sports Mix, News Mix, etc.) and NFL Sunday Ticket package, which I will not disagree are advantages DirecTV has over any other pay-TV provider, including DISH Network and fiber optic providers. However, their technology itself, aside from what I mentioned, has been slammed by CNET and other trusted sources for glitches, being called a "headache". DISH's VIP 922 got CNET's Best of CES award. Look it up.

@215RANDOM Go with DISH Network. They are superior in almost every way except for sports packages. You should check out both providers' websites before you make up your mind. You should probably also check out cable and fiber optic providers. But DISH Network beats DirecTV in almost every category. Don't listen to the DirecTV fanboys here who don't know what they're talking about. I am currently with DirecTV and have never been a DISH Network customer.

And in my dad's house he has a bunch of channels, and he pays 20 something. Now that's a great deal. I agree, Dish is just to good to be true. if you want all of that, the bill is over $1,000. and in Direct TV $200. not even over.

DISH Network now offers HD for free, whereas with DirecTV you don't get as many HD channels, and HD costs an extra $10 a month. Go to their websites and see for yourself. DIRECTV just got an "F" rating from the better business bureau because the BBB received over 36,000 complaints in 36mo on DIRECTV. They're customer service has hit rock bottom because they can't afford to pay their CS people decent . This is due to the fact that they pay celebs millions to appear in cheesy commercials lying about how they have the most HD. Total BS! According to the BBB "DIRECTV is the most complained about company in the US right now". I would STAY AWAY!

Short and sweet, my priority is channels I wish to watch. Does DISH have YES (Yankees Entertainment and Sports) Network? Simple answer: No, and it's highly doubtful they ever will. Sorry DISH, game over. Although I will say I'm glad you're around to offer competition, but if I were to ever leave DirecTV, it would be back to cable for that one simple reason.

A lot of the features they mention are indeed there for D*, just not as fancy as Dish. The nice touch which they didn't touch on and not sure if the Dish DVR receiver does this, is the ability to watch recorded content off that one DVR.

The iPhone app, D* has, but you can't manage your current recordings which would be a nice touch. A little over blown, Dish does things just a little better.

For one thing, I've already compared my bill to what I would have on Dish.... and with 3 HD DVRs with Directv, my bill is a good $15 cheaper than Dish...... and it'll be even cheaper after Dish Networks price increases soon.

There are some facts that are correct. However, many details are left out. My parents have Dish and I have Directv. Dish Pic Quality is not as good. Second the jump forward on a guide is also easily done via three clicks.

My HR22 has no lag in the guide. Additionally there was a time when Dish didnt touch Directv and they lived in the future. Lastly I can not see many sports on Dish(Sun. Ticket, MLB EI).

The facts are DIRECTV has beaten DISH in JD powers customer surveys every year since I can remember, offers more sports MLB,Sunday, Ticket March Madness,. If the best DISH can do is comment on the live button that shows there isn't much meat here just hype. Dish still has better equipment... (not that i care, but also better international television) still more HD, and their technicians don't suck (ref. TTY). Their phone service, depending on who you talk to, can suck, and that's because they treat their employees like shit so they are always quitting... meaning dish has to keep hiring and shittily training new people... -that- is why they lost so many subs.
