Get 2 prolimatech megahalems. Best aircooling (along with the true 120) available. It's quit expensive but you get a really good cpu cooler for the money. The V8 isn't as good as i hoped it too me, just like the zalman 9900LED, which is a shame because the zalman is a beauty.

the v8 cooler can handle any processor that consumes up to 180w thus making it 180w of dissipation,the cooler itself does not require any power, however the fan that blows the hot air away from the cooler requires power to be able to spin, a fan spinning takes up so little power

It should be much lower; I get those temps on my CNPS 9700NT (an inferior cooler).

Did you give the thermal paste time to work inself in? I usually let it run for about a week before I start to measure temperatures.

Also, did you screw it down completely?

And the last reason I can think of is did you set your fan speed on Automatic? If it uses PWM, the fan speed slows down as the CPU temp decreases.

i didnt install the cpu stock cooler, the pc store did it themselves so i think they went cheap on me and did it without the thermal paste...those noobs... -.- anyways im getting this cpu cooler instead of a bigwater 760 liquid cooling system... :)

In defense, getting the right amount of thermal paste has always been tricky (look at any video, no one can agree on the "right amount")

And yes, a good air HSF can beat out a low-midrange liquid cooling system, so this is a solid choice :)

No, since the V8 is a 775 socket adapter, and the i7's have a totally new socket 1366. New heatsinks and fans will come out soon.
