Traditionally she's set up with Jimmy Olsen (to mimic Clark/Kal and Lois), and sometimes she's with Brainiac 5 (smart kid from the future), but other than that, no one can decide who she should be with. Personally, I think she just needs some random person we've never heard of before, because none of the DC characters I'm familiar with (and that's a LOT of them) are a good match for her.
I LOVE Five for Fighting! Especially the song 'Superman'!
Although I honestly think it fits Supergirl better, because it IS a slightly angsty song, and Superman shouldn't HAVE any angst. His life is perfect.
Kara's life? Not so much. She's an ALIEN (whereas I consider Kal-El mostly human), Metropolis barely trusts her, she's just trying to find her place in a world that doesn't need a Supergirl... or so it thinks...
You're obviously a SV fan (don't worry, me too). However, you must realize that Chloe is not a Superman character, she is purely a Smallville character.
And this is part of a comix nerd discussion (or at least I hope it is).
The deal with Supergirl is that she's afraid to get close to people, to a whole world, because she's lost that once, she's terrified of losing it again. So her struggle is about finding her place and ALLOWING herself to TRUST that place not to just disappear.

Um... Chloe became a "hero" from DC? Brainiac's definitely a VILLAIN. Pay attention to who the bad guys are! Chloe's been possessed by a VILLAIN!

The Superman I prefer is sort of a blend of the Mild-Mannered side, and the hardass, I-don't-give-a-damn he was when Action Comics first premiered in the late 1920's. He was hard-core back then. He killed people and stuff! And did NOT have this whole whining thing that I (and clearly you as well) dislike so much.
Yes, she's my favorite, too. Growing up. I named my daughter after her and she's 21 now.
