is that original gearbox for Australia here mercedes sk had their own gearbox ng had ZF gearbox.....or it is conversion ? i know that mercedes gearbox are woers gearboxs ever ......so I would not be surprised if it is original since every manufactur try to be more flexible for specific market needs....i even heard that scania used to install road-ranger gearbox until 1991
@scania98989 You would have to use Google to find out - as for the gearbox..... with the Actros, it's a all Merc driveline now - but there were exceptions to the rule there: Fire & Rescue NSW have a Actros with a 15 speed RoadRanger in it!
@scania98989 I also read that Scania used to inst. Fuller boxes, but that was back, when Scania only had 10 speed range boxes, therefore they inst. fuller boxes with splitters to have some more gears.
Its very but very helpful for who are learner, is good enough before take some lessons and also practical test, its simple manner how can drive properly a lorry and easy to get knowledge, thank you to show practical range gear 4 over 4!!!
Thanks for demystifying the road ranger gear box. I have dreaded the thought of having to drive a truck fitted with one. You have made me now realise what is involved in smoothly changing gears both up and down. Only wish my instructor had seen this clip and applied your method of demonstrating the process. Thanks very much.
this is the best clip that i have seen. it has helped me heaps with the understanding of how the gears & speed play a role in the gear change. i wish my instructor had exlpained it as easy as this guy does.
Great Video !

@scania98989 RoadRangers were a factory fit to Mercs up to 1999 - when the Actros came out.... I do, however, stand to be corrected!

scania98989 10 months ago
@scania98989 There were RoadRangers fitted to Scanias up to the end of the 2-Series - from what I can remember, they were predominately on the V8's

thanks for reply do you know is that done by scania in factory or somebody does it locally after first gearbox brakedown
scania98989 2 months ago
@scania98989 I think it was done by Scania Australia before the trucks went out to the customers..... but I stand to be corrected....

No double clutch no rev in N?
IdunCareLesSn00b 1 year ago
@IdunCareLesSn00b He is double clutching, but generally no need to rev in N when upshifting, only when down, and he is doing that too.
