  • and then there was 'We'

  • @tellinevery1 WEED!!!

  • I wish there was full version to download

  • Holy Shit!!! I've been thinking about this PSA for 15 years! I was describing this to my girl and it's crazy how many details I remembered. Effective message lol. Thank you for this!

  • For the longest time! It used to play after episode of the power rangers all the time. My cousin and I would dance around my grandmas house.

  • Omg I've been wondering who sang this for he l

  • brings back memories of my childhood, i didnt think i would have ever seen this video again....greatly appreciate you posting this

  • Wow - glad I'm not the only one. It's been 15 years since I've heard this song, but some of the lyrics I never forgot.

And to think, the Barenaked Ladies... all this time! :D

  • Oh my god! For years upon years I been looking for this PSA!! Thank you so much for uploading it!! I can honestly say the message stuck with me since I first saw it over 15 years ago as a kid

  • at the end "RACIAL HARMONY"

  • YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  • "What is fruit???"

  • God bless the woman or man that posted this

  • thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you

  • He doesn't know what eyes, fruit, Mars, or pizza are, but he DOES know to compliment people's hats. So he's got that going for him.

  • how does this vid only have 49k views man so many kids either didnt watch cartoons or channel 5 in da 90s smh

  • I'm pretty sure I'm responsible for 1/10 of the total views.

  • @Ecufatty and I'm probably responsible for another tenth!

  • nostalgia time!

  • Jim looks just lovely when he smiles in the last shot!

  • great song! :)

  • I love ed's expression when they try to take his special suit and when Ty asks what fruit is. But it is nothing compared to the sarcastic expression at 0:33. Cracks me up every time!

  • If this was a commercial, I would actually watch TV most of the day.

  • Damn, these guys were only like 22 years old... such creative musical instincts.

  • Some day when I grow up I will invite the Barenaked Ladies to my house.

And they will come over right around lunch. I will have some tasty chicken salad sandwiches prepared, and some cold lemonade.

And then Lunch will get off to a great start, but then they will all jump up from the table with mouths packed full of creamy chicken salad, and begin to kick holes in my walls. The one with orange shorts will smash my wainscoting apart with his work boots.

I will yell at them to stop but they won't.

  • @rickbusinessman lol. Steven's not even in BNL anymore and I doubt the rest of the guys would be interested in kicking holes in your walls. They are indeed rambunctious, but in a gentle natured sort of way. Kind of like Weird Al.

You're still getting a thumbs up for an epic comment, though.

  • Total blast from the past!! This was my introduction to BNL and I've loved them ever since. I was about 5 then (when it originally aired in about 1989), and I'm 26 now. Thank you so much for posting this!

  • @spiffykimbean

Wasn't 1989...more like late 1992. Didn't you catch the reference to Michael Jackson's 'Black or White'?

  • put this in half life 3! (the guy looks a bit like gordon freeman as well :)

  • thanx!

  • and there was weed?

  • Nuts!

  • hahah wow and to think i would never hear this version again after 19 years of my life lmao. i love youtube. keep up with the random post ppl

  • Ever remember some random fragment of a song, a TV show, a movie, etc. from your early childhood that stuck in your brain in a weird way?

For over a decade since I saw this and promptly forgot about it, the chorus and the line "I'd like to learn about your pizza and your weather" has been knocking around in my brain.

Today I got high and typed "your pizza and your weather" into Google and found this was the BNL, much to my shock and surprise.

    God love the internet.

  • I like your hat!

  • i like how this music video is essentially about someone going wherever they please and deciding to 'share' other people's things. maybe i should go up to donald trump and tell him 'i'd like to share your money'

  • does my heart good to see reminders of my childhood

  • Just as awesome as it was when I was a kid. :o) Back when BNL was so fun.

  • OMG This is so flipping awesome! and no juniorphreak this is not as awesome... its even better!

  • WOOT!

  • ET has feelings too.

  • At 1:23, it sound like he says "or made of weed"

  • I've been looking for this forever! I didn't know it was the barenaked ladies.

  • I wasn't sure if i remembered it until the "you treated me like dirt" camera shot. Then I remembered it really vividly. I loved this PSA when I was younger. I sung this song to death.

  • wow, i had no idea that this was them. i remember seeing it on TV several times MANY years ago.

  • LOL michael jackson reference ftw

  • My sister and I went hunting for this commercial and finally found it LMAO!!! It's a lot different than I remember it.

  • OMG... I haven't seen this in eons!

  • I love this. Thanks so much for posting it!

  • i have been looking for this FOREVER!

  • I think I watched this about 5-8 times in a row. XD It's so awesome! Go Gordon!

Props for anyone who truly understands the meaning of Gordon!

  • this song was stuck in my head for like 15 years!

  • Me and my brother loved this song. I used to get so much crap from my school mates for saying this song was a "jam". By the way, does anyone remember another video that was played at about the same time as this one where some kid is told by a Rapping Beethoven to listen to classical music? I thought that one was catchy too, but a lot sillier. Anyone know what it was called?

  • In a land before time, before the internet that is, all I did was watch fox kids tv, and no, I do not recall any rapping Beethoven. I remember some song about equality between girls and boys. I think it was called "All the Same", but it wasn't by BNL.

  • Yeah, I remember that one, too, but I wasn't a fan of that song and I'm sure it wasn't by BNL.

  • 0:53 - 0:55 LOL!

  • thats deff a Mike Jackson reference haha

  • 1:09-1:14 a reference to Michael Jackson's "Black or White" song in the 1990s, perhaps?

  • 0:32

    I DON'T HAVE HANDS!

  • i've loved this song since i was a kid and still occassionally staring humming it. thanks so much for posting this awesome vid!

  • I remember watching this as a child and it scared the crap out of me.

  • Thank you thank you thank you for putting this up! I am in the same boat as Will2asher, I have been looking for this since it came out... WOO!

  • Their awesome!^^

  • I can not watch this video without breaking out in a huge grin. It's physically impossible.

  • I LOVE IT!!!!!! I want to give each one of them a hug!

  • i love at the end when it fades away and you hear ed say "I like your hat!"

  • LOL OMG this is amazing! haha 8D

  • DUDEYEAH! Me too! I've also been looking for this song for about 17 years. I remember having videotaped it off the TV during Saturday morning cartoons and I memorized the lyrics and could sing it from memory, but I lost the tape. BEST public service announcement EVER!

  • So many good memories.

  • I have been looking for this song for over 17 years. Can someone for the love of God send it to me?

Message me on my YouTube account!!!

  • This song has been stuck in my head for 15 years. Jesus Christ is it interesting to finally see this again. Despite this video's silliness, I somehow remembered it being even more bizarre. Also, for a fairly serious adult-oriented band, Barenaked Ladies do a pretty good job of adjusting their roles for kids in this video, without being condescending or looking like they don't want to be doing it.

  • @clintisiceman This has been scorched into my soul since I saw it when I was little.

  • @clintisiceman

Totally. Stuck in my head forever too, I never knew it was by BNL.

  • This PSA has been on my mind for years and I'm happy to have found it once again.

  • OMG I remember this was on The Original FOX KIDS back in the day, I had no idea it was by the Bare Naked Ladies, wow lol I woke up at 4am this morning thinking about this song and now that I'm at work I couldn't resist hunting it down lol THANKS FOR POSTING!

  • @AceOfJon thank YOU for reminding me it was Fox Kids that showed this to me back in the day. I was just singing this song and had no idea it was Barenaked Ladies. Good message for the kids

  • @AceOfJon

I remember it from back then too, it would come to mind every once in a great while and I decided I finally had to look it up. I didnt know it was by BNL.

  • There's those famous orange shorts again!

  • Oh my God! A Barenaked Ladies TV spot on racism??? You have no idea how much I wish I lived in Canada now, we don't get shi* like this over in the UK!

We get some learned scholar sitting on a chair giving it: ''Don't be racist.'' (Well, not exactly, but it might as well be compaired to this gem!)

  • Young Kids today don't know what they missed out on...

The 90's Saturday Morning Cartoons were the sh*t! Didn't even need cable TV to enjoy television back then.

  • While I am inclined to agree, I should point out that every single generation says this about the generation that follows them. Talk to a Gen X-er. They will talk endlessly about how great 80's cartoons were and how the stuff us more 90's oriented youths enjoyed like Animaniacs and Batman were stupid.

  • The question is, what the hell is the next generation gonna have to hold dear? They've got nothing of remote value or generational connection xD. I think that's kinda the difference between us and the next few generations.

  • This generation of kids got Pixar in the height of their creativity (the Incredibles, Ratatouille, Wall-E, etc.). I can only dream of how much these movies would have meant to me if I had been a child when they came out. Also, shows like Spongebob Squarepants are fairly clever compared to a lot of the dumber shows kids are supposed to like. It pains me to make this comparison, but Spongebob is probably this generation's equivalent of Ren & Stimpy or Rocko's Modern Life.

  • That's true thats true.. although I think spingebob goes way too adult too often (then so was ren and stimpy xD), but definitely agree about pixar. I hadn't thought about those. Can you imagine GIJOE and winnie the pooh done by pixar?

  • rocko's modern life was the shit

  • I agree with you, I shudder to think what they'll hold dear, iPods? PS3? Its sad when you think there will never be another golden age of Nickelodeon or kids actually getting outside.

  • I fell into both categorys, I enjoyed Animaniacs AND the old Transformers cartoons, shit nowadays is lame.

  • what of if your silver.... damned racists....

  • omfg Ive had this song stuck in my head for years but could never remember where i heard it or what it was from so happy i finally found it.

  • I remember this would come on before X-Men

  • this video was hot and everyone waited for it to come on. the 90s were hot

  • Why didn't the barenaked ladies put this song on one of their CD's. They have a song entitled "Gordon" but it's not this. Does anyone know where I can download this in MP3 format? If so please let me know.

  • I have it if you want me to email it to you.

  • Will you please? How can I go about doing this; I don't want everyone having my e-mail address. Please respond soon. Thank you!!

  • i'd like it too if you please :D

  • How did you find it? I've been trying to for a while. Its an audio file right?

  • is there any chance that you could also email it to me. love this and love BNL

  • I'll jump on this bandwagon.

  • so will I, just message me on youtube.

  • Awesome! I loved this song when I was a kid!! Great song.

    but...

    Fox!? Boooo!

  • i just remembered it from fox kids. found it on retrojunk and now here. awesomeness.

    "and then there was me."

  • whoa! I didn't see this on FOX, but I saw this on the net...but, still, classic!

  • And then there was me.

  • I can't stop playing this... endless, endless repetitions... what memories.

You know how you can't get enough of something as a kid, but then you grow up and you can barely even stand to watch it once? My Little Pony, Go-Bots, etc., I can't go back to. But this little gem will NEVER grow old.

  • You are absolutely right!! Saturday morning was something special back then. I love this song too. I still sing today every now and then. And the cartoons you mentioned was the bomb. I loved the Gobots, Smurfs, The Get Along Gang and much more. It makes me sad when I think about how much things have changed. I wish I could go back and smell, feel, taste and experience Saturday morning the way it used to be. There's nothing like sitting in front of the TV with a big bowl of sugared cereal on Sat.

  • I used to wake up early on Saturday mornings to watch "Beakman's World" and "Garfield"... that's when I would see this video each week on television. I only remembered, "If you're thinking about being a Space Man, it don't matter if you're black or white!!!"

  • I've been a BNL fan for several years, and I always had a feeling in the back of mind that their voices were familiar.

Saturday morning cartoons and BNL... it all finally comes together.

  • Yep, there's my childhood. And I'd never even heard of the Barenaked Ladies when I first saw this.

  • Takes me back, I should say.

  • Boy, this take me back.

  • you wouldnt believe how excited i was when i got my first bnl cd back in high school and then rememebred that i had this taped on vhs from childhood cartoons. dug it up and sure enough. it's not hard to forget

"barenaked ladies" when you're a kid. of course that discorvery must have been over ten years ago, i almost forgot about it again. check out their newer music too.

  • good times

  • awesome! I wonder how many people picked out the Michael Jackson reference.

  • probably most cause im thinking he WAS pop music at the time really.

  • Yea, Michael Jackson's song Black or White came out in 1990 and I think this PSA came out that following year.

  • Black or White. That was such a great song.

  • Ed makes a very sexy spaceman indeed.

  • Thats the bare naked ladies. So awesome!

  • I miss the 90s. Things seem so much simpler in childhood.

  • I miss the 90's too, my friend. I don't know about anyone else but it just seems to me that once you graduate high school things sorta goes down hill from there. I mean, I miss waking up early Saturday morning with a big bowl of Fruit Loops glued to the TV until all my favorite toons went off. Saturday was my favorite day of the week. Even daylight looked different back then. I guess it's true what they say you can never go home again. But thanks to youtube we can remember. Thanks youtube.

  • once again folks this little skit takes me back to a time when Saturday morning was worth something. It brings a tear to my eyes when I hear it. Because I still sing it as if it were yesterday. I can't believe it's been over 15 years. Gosh! Time sure flies. I love this song. I wish there was an mp3 file of this song so I can play it whenever I please.

  • WHAT IS FRUIT

  • LMFAO!!!

  • My god this video was awesome. I shed a tear of joy when i watched it. Praise racial equality!!

  • oooh wow. That I have never seen before. wow ... loved it though.

  • I think this ran for like a few years actually, at least you got to see it now.

  • I can't find the mp3 of this. ;_;

  • I find the jig unbelievable adorable

  • Oh my god, Catchiest. Tune. EVER.

  • I saw it early one Saturday morning in the early '90s and loved how the song sounded so completely out of the ordinary. A few years ago, I remembered this song out of the blue and was able to find out that it was BNL! It's nice to know you truly like a group when you liked them before you even knew who they were.

  • Yessss I totally remembered the lyrics to this, I recently sang it at a friend of mine to see if he had ever seen it. I didn't even know it was BNL until I plugged the lyrics into a search tonight, then searched the song title here. The internet ftw gg yo!

  • HELL YES.

  • Amen, guys. I remembered this too and most of the lyrics. Ahhhh.. the good old days.

  • This makes me so happy. I remember seeing this as a little kid at least once each Saturday morning, if not more. I haven't seen this in years--I just watched it about 5 times! And I never knew this was BNL! That's so ironic to me, cuz I really like them a lot now.

Some of my friends said they thought it was about being an astronaut, not racial tolerance. I was about 7 when this came out and I got it. Did everyone else?

  • [Fade out]

    RACIAL HARMONY

  • My god, this is how I discovered BNL all those years ago. I've been searching for this video forever and ever. Hooray for YouTube!

  • I've always loved this. It makes me happy. :)

  • Oh wow. This should have been on Gorden its self. Thats fantastic.

  • The only Barenaked Ladies song in which Ed doesn't play an instrument.

  • I don't know about that, but it's the only video where that is.

  • Love it!

  • Thank you for putting this up. I remember watching this when I was a kid, for the logest time I thought I had imagined this. Its funny now to realize that I heard BNL before I even knew who they were.

  • LOL!
