  • Have you seen the headless rider yet? jk :)

  • 3:14 I d'awwwwed :)

  • Chez

  • loving ur videos cooney :D i love learning about tokyo and ur vids are the best way to do it and be amused at the same time lol..i wanna atleast go on holiday there soon.

  • How much is a plane ticket to japan?

  • @RoxastheHedghog

It depends on where u live and what airline you'll use.

But from france, using China Eastern Airlines Or Aeroflot it's about 600€ and that's the same price from LA with Air China.

And i don't really agree with that man, Ikebukuro is also a nice place to drink when u don't want to go to Shinjuku (wich is too crowded).

I guess there's also a little mistake because i think Ueno station is also bugger than ikebukuro one.

  • Gaijin da!

  • i wanna go 2 to japan , arrghhhh!... 1 day.lol

  • I like watching these videos high

  • Sugoi!

  • is it Ikaybukuwro or Ikebukuro?

  • @RENEDU2 The latter. if youre talking about pronunciation. Most words are easy to pronounce even for novices. I lived in Aomori years ago. (AWAHmohRee)

  • you kinda look like a yakuza! haha

  • If they caught you walking with a camera through a UK station they'd lock you up and throw away the key..

  • @airfoobar why?

  • @iSmokeCronicUshld2 We have some really really crazy "terrorism" laws.

  • @airfoobar oh...wow.....makes me want to return my plane ticket D:

  • @airfoobar why?

  • SO funny!

  • Wait a sec, wait a sec. That station looked strangely like a shopping mall... *reviews one part of video* Yeah like at the end it looks like a mall. And yes it does seem pretty freakin' vast.

  • Hey...if you still check these...what do (or did) for work in Japan? and did you have to speak more then basic japanese? haha sorry that sounded lame but still.....

  • yeah, when I got mugged at that station, the mugger kicked me in the sweaty "pond bag".

    Yeah, just kidding.

  • I get lost a lot in Ikebukuro station, it's sad

  • you suuck!

  • i really like your vids. cool stuff.

  • haha wow its a love hotel

  • train seats are awesome...

  • Did you have to learn the Japanese language or are their english speaking areas and people in Tokyo?

  • @Turkeygirl1900

Go to Japan without knowing the language and pretty much everyone won't be able to communicate with you.

Of course there is the few amounts of English and brief-English speakers who know basic sentences.

  • Ok. Thank you for replying. ^o^

  • ok, it's true that japanese don't speak english fluently but they are the sweetest people ever!when we went in tokyo we communicated with them excellently!!!(we even spoke Italian with a girl!if she spoke Greek it'd have been perfect!)

when we asked someone for directions he/she just would do anything to help us!

they were leading us there themselves!you know...

    they were really nice!!!

and there was also a lady we met in a restaurant that was so funny and showed us around in Ginza!

    I<3 Japan

  • @CherokeePioneer hey quick question, when u say "without knowing the language" does that include kanji or Kana characters?(im not sure which 1 the japanese use)like, for example, i can read Romaji, the place in this video, Ikebukuro,i can read that perfectly but the sticks(Kana or Kanji) i cant read at all,if i went to Japan just knowing how to read Romaji,do u think i would be able to get by?? if anyone else also would like to answer that would be greatly appreciated thanks!

  • @ floke5

It depends on how long you plan on staying.

Long term, romaji won't get you far. I recommend learning some basic phrases of Japanese and remembering certain words. Also, learn to read hiraganas and katakanas and memorize a bit of Kinajis.

You should especially review words that are used in certain situations, like when you're buying something and you're at the counter, asking directions, ordering food, riding the subway and memorzing specific subway stations and subway lines, etc.

  • @ floke5

    ...continuing from my previous,,,

I know many foreigners that visited Japan who can't speak a word of Japanese. They said it wasn't really a huge problem. But in my opinion, going to Japan with some knowledge of the language will make things extremely easy and comfortable. It's a real pain in the ass to ask people for help especially when they can't speak English, and you're making it a pain in the ass for them as well.

  • @odus u have an excellent point, i admit it seems like its gonna be a pain to try to learn the hiragana and katakana system,im still in the process of remembering words in romaji but if u recommend it, then i ll give it a shot. Thanks alot for your advice!

  • cool clip!

  • I want to go to Japan so bad

  • @1337gam3r07

You not the only one bud.

  • @1337gam3r07 Me too, lets go together

  • Ikebukuro is second biggest station in japan

  • I've just got to add that I stayed in Ikebukuro when I went to tokyo and I loved it.

  • pretty good ska in the background, what band is that?

  • LOVE YOUR VIDEOS

  • Ah, the legendary "Love Hotels" of Nihon. =P

  • Haha,it's like you were stalking that guy in the white shirt for a while.

  • On my list of things to do before I die:

Ride a Japanese train during rush hour.

  • 1:37 hotel Totoro (トトロ)

    OMG!!

    "My Neighbor Hotel Totoro"

  • I LOVED THAT MOVIE!

  • nn ci capisko un cazzo ma è figo xD

  • 1:37 hotel "Totoro" , don't use that name all kids love. The movie maker should make a protest against the hotel owner.

  • ROFL, you're a freakin' hilarious dude man... and it's really damn sad that I like your "train seat" joke so much, guess living in NYC helped me with that one.

  • I'm not from the US so this might come across as really ignorant, but...i didn't get the train seat joke :S could you let me in on that?

  • tokyocooney's joke I assume related to something sexual...

The reason I found it amusing was because if you ever have to endure commuting on long train rides(subways), you end up inevitably falling asleep on train seats quite often.

  • Lots of people sleep on the trains.

  • what part of Ikebukuro do u live in?

  • i like your videos but i have one question. do you get stared at when you go outside because your a foreigner or treated different?

  • らぶ ほてる?

  • this guy is so awesome!

  • "personality to thaw out" i like that, that's a good one.

  • 日本に対しての不満ばっかりじゃないですか。

  • was thinking 'bout that too ¬_¬

but he made a kinda "hidden" clue (if u wanna call it that .. i dont know what it is in english) to it in the video too so i wouldn't go as far as calling him a dumbass ...

  • your a piece of dumbass

  • ikebukoro looks like a maze..O.O

  • lucky basterd! tokyo is the bom!

  • whats is 1 US dollar to yen?

  • about 100 yen to a dollar. Just drop the last 2 digits of the yen price to get us. dollar. It isn't exact but close enough.

  • about 110-125 yen

  • l2use google that was like 5 years ago. its about 100 yen to a dollar atm

  • No, it flucuates to much, it is never exactly 1 dollar. doh

  • Yen to the dolloar is actually dependant on a lot of factor for Example the Yen has been dropping because of the current economy

  • "because you wouldn't want anybody's personality to thaw out."

    lmao. You're freakin hilarious.

  • Omg....that station looks like a labyrinth to me.

  • oh yea- wtf is this guy?

  • Hey tokyocooney, I love your videos. great stuff. cant wait to finish University and maybe teach english there.

In any case have you ever eaten the crepes in the basement of Sunshine 60?

  • i really really don't understand. Why is there a replica train seat in the hotel room.

  • You have to imagine why there would be a "rest" rate and a "stay" rate and use your imagination of why there would be a replica train seat there. Just dive to the gutter and you'll figure it out. LOL!

  • i still dont get it

  • アメリカは最もよい国である。 私は私は英語をしかし話すことができることを私が望むそれを愛する。

  • ????

  • Wow.

    Looks like a freaking airport.

    :O

  • lol i remember being in that station.

Cant wait to go back next year..to japan, not that station

  • ouh man why didnt i find this vid before goin to japan.....ouh well now i m back....i went to nagoya and tokyo for my sch's band exchange programe....and we lived at sunshine prince hotel which is very near ikebukuro!...hehex

  • There's another reason.

    haha that made me laugh

  • LOL if ur a NAruto not assuming u are but if u watchh Naruto Way Too much and want to go to japan just for Naruto ur a NArutard

  • I think I have a crush on you tokyocooney

  • ikeburo sunshine city i went there nice place

  • i hste narutards they have no fucking life and bleach pwns naruto 2000x anyways im going to japan for college and Video Gaming Career not because of manga also its very peaceful and modern!!!

  • I think Death Note pwns Naruto 10000000x lol.

  • LOL yeah

  • ...Does anyone but me want to go there just for the culture and niceness of the people? I'd be fine being a fry cook. Also don't be dissing naruto and bring bleach into the picture. >.> DBZ is obviously over 9000x better than all of them.

  • i agree.

  • yes it is!!!

    thank you!!!

  • It kind of annoys me that everyone nowadays wants to visit Japan. Most people who do are as Cooney mentioned in another video, 15 and like Naruto. They go in because they like anime, manga, and hentai. They don't do it because of the business aspect, or something serious like school. It's annoying.

*Waits for replies to this bashing me, and protesting that they like Japan for some other reason, themselves in denial*

  • lol, i know alot of people like that, heck, i used to be like that 4 years ago (exept i hate naruto all too much) but thats why i watch these videos, to get the proper feel of Japan. I'm mainly interested in its food and culture, but i wouldn't live there

  • You're right. And these type of people are giving the rest of the Gaijin a bad name, because Japanese pple don't know that most Americans who go over there are Otaku or just after girls. And then they think all americans are weirdos or creeps.

I'm only after the clothes and the night life.

  • screw the business, what about the ladies.

  • Americans are all cruel and hostile? It's not very smart to generalize, especially, when you're in the group that you are talking down on. -_-

  • most likely that wouldnt happen since japan is PACKED!

  • @Grubilman Lol I would say compared to most other countries, America is a living hell...Can't even leave your doors unlocked anymore without getting gunned down O.o Corporations dont even see their workers are humans, and blah...Still fucking great place to be :D

  • i wouldnt be talking if my name was "gameeater1"

  • i'm teaching myself Japanese..im using a program i bought called 'Lets Learn Japanese' for my laptop..so far im doing very well, i know Hiragana & Katakana and i know how to say quite abit..im doing it cuz i wanna live & work there tho :P

  • TOO MANY PEOPLE!

  • where can u study kongi i prolly dident spell that right but where did u learn it con-G

  • kangi

  • ok kool u no wehre to study it ?

  • i'm attemptng to teach myself... sorry.

  • Kanji

  • oops.

  • Kanji :p

  • Just head down to your local library and they'll have about a dozen books on it. It's much easier to learn by doing, and just walk around with a japanese-english dictionary though.

  • First gain basic knowledge of Japanese pronounciation and spelling, then in time one thing will lead to another and you can learn Kanji :)

  • do u no where i can learn japanese ?

  • Right here on youtube buddy. Type in "let's learn Japanese" and start from episode one. Keep rewatching until you get it!

Put in max effort and it'll pay off! :)

  • did ppl look at u when u were talkin 2 ur camera?

  • very exciting, thanks for showing it

  • Nice Video! Seedy and nasty? do you mean it can be a bit dangerous as well? Seedy i can vouch for lol .... yeah Tokyo train station was absolutely massive, i remember exploring its tunnels, which was a mistake cause then i had to trek back which was too far for me to feel comfortable about, i was glad for the horizontal escalators which is funny cause i always used to laugh at the fact that they had them in the first place

  • I can't believe the hotel is called, Hotel Totoro. Totoro is suppose to be an innocent ... oh well.

  • yeah I don't think you'll want to stay at a love hotel alone...

  • the station look more like a mall. wheres like the actual transportation? is it true that you actaully have to be pushed to get in the train?

  • thaw out...lol

  • So.... why is there a replica train seat in the hotel...?

  • If its a love hotel, i'm going to assume its a place to have sex. I guess they can pretend to be having sex on a train lol

  • There's lots of Japanese men (called 'Chikan') who feel up women on trains. So naturally those guys have a...fetish...for banging on train seats. Or something.

  • "Pond Bag." LOL

  • Please tell me that isn't a serious question...

  • Umm..............no.

  • Yes, everyone in Tokyo acts like an anime character, even Tokyoconey. He acts like the main character from a little known anime called 馬鹿である (go translate the title).

  • -_-

  • re: -_-"

  • ummm what's the other reason?

  • All yur videos are awesome

  • You are awesome.

    I have a question, and a comment....

It's always been my dream to attend a Japanese art school(college)...is that possible if you can't read or speak too well yet? I guess I still have 2 years to study, and I was learning but I'm forced to take spanish class(this year is the last), and it was too confuzing trying to learn both at once.

Well plz reply if you get a chance, it's hard to find info on it. Thanks

  • Dont have much advice for your situation as Im not very knowledgeable about it. But Id check out the youtube user "shotamerican" s she is pursing becoming a mangaka in japan. Perhaps shed have better advice.

  • Alright, well thanks =33

  • That thing is as big as my airport. The Orlando International Airport. That's crazy big. Holy crap.

  • I'm moving to Japan in May! booked my flights :D Fuck Yeah cant wait, can we meet i don't know anybody over there lol

  • hahahha!! i never knew love hotel had replica train sets.. lol!!! i guess you gotta satisfy your fettish or something sometime...

  • Haha nice blog! Now guess where I'm going and staying in 2 weeks... Ikebukuro... let's go drink? I actually like seedy neighbourhoods, went to school in a red light district...

Btw, ever watched Ikebukuro West Gate Park?

  • i will have to do a vblog when i go to tokyo, it wont rival yours but i hope people will enjoy it

  • lol actually life is more expensive in tokyo than anywhere in the world, you won't be richer!

  • lol, tosser. have you ever even been to japan? you know nothing.

  • Thank you!!!! I was just thinkin the same thing!lol

  • -_-

  • cuz you havent been there, asswipe, you no nothing just like paradoxbox1 said lol

  • would like to emigrate to japan even though i dont understand the language very well. then i will be happy :-)

  • ok questions:

1- do you speak Japanese well, if so where & how did you learn?

2- what is $1 or £1 in comparison to yen?

3- what are you working as? BTW: I luv ur hair :)

  • dude $1 is like 100 yen. and he's making a sitcom for NHK. If you have cox digital cable you can get that channel on extended cable.

  • Actually it's more like...115 to 120 yen to the dollar. =]

  • lol yeah the personality joke was epic

  • Best country in the world... ahahha take your rose tinted glasses off and take a better look at the country. Every country has good and bad things about it.

Cooney, do you get any wierd looks talking to yourself when walking?

  • Only when im not holding a camera.

  • Loved the "personality" joke. :)

  • hahah the train thing was funny

  • I have a question. I would like to know your opinions on bukkake.

  • japan is easily theb est country in the world, and you judge it by some porn? ah these whities, would you like if i jugded usa by all masses of animal porn you produce?

  • Animal porn... the fuck are you talking about?
