  • were did you get the notes to this song

  • how long have u been playing?

I liked your performance, continue and enjoy it more!

  • i love how you can play with so much emotion , just one thing, about your hand on the voilin.........

  • Wow!! You're simply amazing. When did you start playing?!

  • this, and other videos of yours are really good!

but try to keep your elbow away from your stomach :P

  • Ur really good in al ur vids but i think ur gives u hell on violin is da best one. :)

  • Just a word of advice, while you're holding your bow like that, it's actually going crooked on the strings and losing the contact point, thus the tone is going off. And try to keep your vibrato flowing through a phrase.

  • ur good but keep ur bow on the strngs nxt time=D

  • holy crap,

your vibrtao is pretty good haha

    its out of tune though.

    your good haha

  • i love how you play the violin,

i can't play without looking at the music sheet. :P

  • i think you should stand up when you play

you'd be more free and feel the music

    more and probably play better,

not that im sayin its bad or anything

    i liked it

    it was good

    =)

  • it was really good dw about what others say

  • haha nah its fine

i agree w/ the vibrato usage and stuff

i can play the violin, now it's time for me to improve the mechanics behind it

  • @BlueViolin58

Hiya! That was actually really good 8D Just wanted to give you some tips because you seems to like this song a lot. 1. try to play several notes in one stroke to give it a softer sound (I know that you do that in some parts). 2. hold your bow at the very end, that gives you more control (middle and ring finger on the black thingy). And if you like and want to, try to add some crescendo 8D.

  • Feeling the music eh? :DD

    nice job!

  • feeling? yes

    playing well? no

    @_@

    i'll get better xP

  • -.-?

  • o.o

  • sorry i suck x.x

  • err no i don't mean it like that .

    haha

    I meant that's cool . (:

  • @BlueViolin58 naaah.. you're preeetty good tho !!! peace :)

  • nice and enthuseastic, swaying to the music. he he, when i play my violin, i get caught in the moment too, vibrato is good, coming alone well...your lucky, i have crocked fingers, so i have other visions of using it, great job:D

  • wow!!! you are so good!!!! hmmm....did you make up the notes that fitted along or did you look at the violin sheets? well yeah...you play the violin too so yeah. but it's nice!!

  • its played by ear, i dont like reading sheet music

  • oh. nice. i'm playing the piano version. and thought that you'd just read the top line but nvm. pretty good!

  • Played with lotsa emotion :) you sound sort of unsure in a couple parts, but that could be easily fixed with more practice.

    love the higher octave!

  • yea it was a first run with playing by ear; i'm still working on my relative pitch... it'll be better soon.

  • not bad.... *phew*

but i know u can do better ;)

  • That pop/rock bow grip you mentioned isn't beneficial at all. Everyone has their own way of holding the bow, but there are only a few grips that actually make sense. Yours isn't one of them. Your bow grip is the cause of your wispy and unfocused sound. Your vibrato is disjointed and most of your notes are out of tune.

You should really practice and listen to the advice people give you.

  • you know what? you're really not all that great (i just watched your videos) so stop acting all arrogant.

this grip focuses on more rock, power; etc. i use it in jazz band all the time, no one complains cuz i'm GOOD. seriously, stop acting like you know everything. vibrato shouldn't all sound the same either, you change speeds in the middle of them depending on the style you choose to play; since i did this by ear, with no vibrato on piano to guide me, i chose my own vibrato style. thanks.

  • Your bow grip focuses on epic fail. Of course nobody is going to complain in "jazz band". Nobody cares too look. If it doesn't jeopardize the band's sound they don't care. If you stop your vibrato, start a note and then stop the vibrato and then move to the next note you get a very disconnected and unfocused sound.

I do sound a bit arrogant but you are even more arrogant than me. You reject advice and fail to recognize your own mistakes. That is painfully ignorant. Rethink your violin playing.

  • Who said I was done learning? Of course I'm still learning, there's no advice to take online because there's no way to learn from simply "time to learn".

I'm not the one acting like a no-it-all, I know you mean well, but your intent and tone is wrong. If you choose to approach me, don't try to lecture me online. I will only take lectures from my violin teacher, if you mean well, then speak nicely.

Haters" are disrespected on YT because they flame. And I won't take advice from haters.

  • "Time to learn" isn't very descriptive, but that should motivate you to find a better way to hold the bow if you think you can do it better. Online has a lot of resources.

I was very direct because almost all your responses to negative feedback revolved around "don't worry about it" followed by justification. As a viewer I want you to know my opinion. If you want me to sugarcoat that opinion just ask and I will do it. But really, consider your posture. It will make you a better player.

  • Yeah, I will; I don't mean to make you sugarcoat, but saying it arrogantly makes it less agreeable. Maybe that's just me because I don't like people who are all like, oh I'm so much better than you -_-; we're all still learning, so now's no time to be like that.

In fact, it's not really beneficial to be arrogant. Treat fellow players nicely, would you downgrade all of them in a professional orchestra if you were better than them?

Oh well, I only got a teacher recently, I've still got way to go

  • There's a line between stating helpful facts and flaming. I have been teaching for years and I would never say anything just to make people feel bad about themselves. Bow grip, vibrato and intonation are things to make you better. It may sound like I'm attacking you but I'm not. Criticism is always difficult to accept because we all like to think we're right. I bet your new teacher will say the same thing. However, once you accept it (regardless of how it's said) it will make you stronger.

  • Aiight thanks then, I'll take your advice.

I'll redo this and send it to you; after watching your version, of course. Maybe it's my higher octave and steel strings thats causing some of the "whispy" noise; just sayin'. I'll go down to your octave.

  • I think it would be more effective if you didn't stop the bow between notes. I can post a video describing what I mean if that's vague. It goes the same with vibrato. The warm sound only comes out if you string notes together with consistent vibrato. That's very tedious at the higher octave. My version is identical to yours except I omit the first phrase and play the second one an octave lower. After that I jump to the higher octave. I just didn't want to play the same thing three times xD

  • Go ahead; I'll take your advice into account and try again; then you can take a look and see what I'm doing sloppily again.

Personally, I copied this version of vibrato for another song actually, I think it was Air on G String or something, but yeah; I didn't know if slow or fast vibrato would suit this song.

But yeah, if you approach me with advice on how to improve this way, it's a lot more effective. I'll listen more and we don't end up flaming each other (which I don't think we should).

  • You're holding your bow wrong, time to learn!

  • everyone has their own way of holding the bow

this is my pop/rock bow hold

my classical bow hold is just fine =p

    dont worry about me

  • my violin teacher is pro =D

he plays all around the world

    hes really good

    lol

  • so i should've commented the day you sent this to me

but this is an uberly awesome song

i think your body movement helps xD

for a first run this sounds awesome, i'm sure second time around you'll fix the few shifting glitches

    ~annie*~

  • lol nice job u play violin way better than i do

hey this is wut my violin teacher told me to do about posture,

u have to pretty much stay still most of the time but if ur like moving to the beat im guess ur fine

  • haha, no, i'm moving to create a better tone and quality control; if your violin teacher was pro, they would know that moving is essential to create a better tone.

for an example, look up (on youtube) "Haku by Vanilla Mood" =p find the PV and watch how they play. kthx

  • woahhh you look constipated lol jk nice job

  • i wish i could play like yu

    it was pretty good.(:

i would b wathin all yur yiruma vids..not in a stalkeriishh way or anything toh lol

  • awesome!

you must do the river flows in me!

    : D

  • no! lol

    <3

  • awesomee

  • LUV IT ^^

  • lol@ the applause at the end. xD *clap, clap* xD

  • note my sigh at the very end. @_@ that's a sigh of dissatisfaction.

  • It's alright, it was only your first run, right? It'll turn into a sigh of um....satisfaction? soon Meh, that sounds weird. Anyway, I'm sure the later versions will be awesomer xD

  • Oooh, Yiruma. Pretty ^^ I dunno if I could tell but some of the pitch sounded off-ish? (towards the end?) But it's really good for the first run. xD Was the lighting supposed to be like that? O__o

  • yes, that's how my camera works

it changes the internal lighting to make the object more prominent.

the lighting changes when i move, i tend to block the light the camera detects in the background. it's a pretty cool feature actually

  • I just LOVE that piece! so beautiful... T^T

You did a wonderful job!! =DD
