  • I still can't get over how well this guy speaks English. English is my first and only language and if you put us up against each other and said okay one of these guys speaks English natively and the other one doesn't I guarantee you'd pick him to be the native English speaker. Must be a real sharp fella. But I have noticed a lot of Swedes speak perfect English.

  • Gabriel Landeskog is the best name i've ever heard. Say it a few times, you'll see what I mean.

  • Gabriel Landeskog is great,he is my favorite swede to ever skate in NHL,plus he is making a statement already in NHL.

  • So glad Colorado got him and not Edmonton.

  • kids got a head on those beast shoulders... great career ahead of him

  • Hes gonna have a great career. And this is coming from a Boston fan. I'm afraid of the avalanche in 3-5 years. 0.o

  • I also snagged him as my second last pick in my pool...hoping for a calder performance :D

  • I just took this guy in my Yahoo pool. I think it was a good pick.

  • Just booked my flight to denver from detroit for the avs home opener! saw him tear up juniors on kitchener now get to see him on colorado.... i love hockey

  • future avalanche captain

  • this guy is good, but hes too much like Mike richards. not that i wouldnt like richards on my team, but at second overall he should have more offensive ability. I personally think the Avs would have been better off taking Mika Zibanejad, Ottawas first rounder at 6th overall. he hits too but scores more frequently

  • @SXLePiC zibanejad only had 5 goals in the SEL league while Landeskog had 36 goals in the chl and he could've had 50 if he didnt injure his ankle. I think we picked Landeskog to replace the spot stewart filled.

  • @avschase haha an u compare chl with SEL, ye they are exactly in same lvl, can say for sure that Gabbe aint should make 36 and wouldnt have done 50 haha, if SEL is around third best hockey league around the world then chl should be around 2/3 place, shit thats good ehhhhhhhh

  • AVALANCHE BABY !! <3

  • Dutchy centering flash and Landeskog would be an amazing line.

  • Please be the second coming of Forsberg. Without the glass ankles.

  • @gregsarchet haha made my day xD but Forsberg took alot of bad hits not he's fault:(

  • @gregsarchet if you expect Landeskog to replace Forsberg your more than likely going to be dissapointed as his heart determination and physical play is Forsberg like but he lacks Peter's incredible hockey sense and superstar skill level. The past Avs player he most resembles is Adam Deadmarsh although he's bigger than Deader he'll probably max out around 25-35 goals a year just like him.

If he ends up being a bigger scorer than that I'll be shocked and impressed.

  • @nevertweet015 He hasn't played a season yet. Can't make such judgments already, lol.

  • @harikGod maybe you can't but I already did

  • Welcome to the Avs

  • he was in my class i was going to ask him out! CONGRATS GABE

  • Welcome To Colorado Avalanche

  • Landeskog is so dope. Favourite player in the draft. Grats to the Avs if they take him!

  • Landeskog, you better be coming to the Avs!

  • If the Devils don't choose Couturier at #4, I wouldn't mind Landeskog being on the team. I mean, as a Devils fan I am looking for someone who could make an immediate impact on the team.

  • The 2 places this guy would most likely go is New Jersey or Colorado. Nugent-Hopkins is for sure going to Edmonton and Florida might get Huberdeau or Larsson if Huberdeau isn't available. Colorado could pick Landeskog to add a power-forward to their lineup (clearing the slot and fighting in the corners) or Huberdeau to generate more passing plays.

    LANDESKOG-Duchene-Hejduk

    Fleishmann(?)-Hishon-Oreilly

  • Gabriel Landeskog, one hell of a hockey player, that's for sure. I can't believe that I went to the same school as he did in Sweden, mindblowing really. I'm hoping that he is going to become one of the all-time greatest, someone you can compare with Peter Forsberg.

He is going to thrive in the NHL, doubtless.

    Lycka till i NHL gabbe!

  • Colorado better take him or i'm gonna be pissed

  • @Hurley474 "Defense wins championships" hmmm, as a Devil fan I heard that was the reason why every team and fanbase hates us?

  • My Top 5 Draft Predictions:

    #1 Nugent Hopkins - Oilers

    #2 Landerskog - Avalanche

    #3 Larsson - Panthers

    #4 Couturier - Devils

    #5 Huberdeau - Islanders

  • #2 Gabriel Landeskog YEAH- #11 Beaulieu YEAH , or Siemens Very Good (A-)

#2 Adam Larsson YEAH- and #11 Puempel or Armia ... NO WAY !

we have Stefan Elliot, Barrie D prospects...

Landeskog - Duchene - Hejduk -> ATOMIC BOMB is coming

  • @dragaodosangue Elliot and Barrie are both offensive D prospects (what Colorado has an over abondance of) Larsson is an all around D man something other than Johnson we don't have so I doubt the avs are going to say "no way" to Larsson because he plays defense, he's definately going to be a consideration for us whether you like it or not

  • @nevertweet015 I don't know how many games you get to see or if you watch them on TV or anything, but during an interview in pre-game one time, Johnson stated that he was working out all summer to try and convert his game to what the avs play instead of the physical game. so thats good lol. i would agree though. We need another player who can play on a line with Duchene. We will see what happens.

  • @hockeypunk136 tell me your joking right? Johnson not working on the physical game, thats some kind of sick joke right? I don't get many avs games where I live and stoped watching online becasue I got tired of watching them lose every game but thats ridiculus why would a guy his size not work on being physical?

I miss Foote and Blake on the blueline =(

  • @nevertweet015 I wish I were joking. but he said he was working with his trainer in minny over the summer to work on his speed game to fit in with the Avalanche system. I was wondering the same thing why a guy of his size would work on speed instead of the physical game because really all the avs have is quincey who is physical now. sounds really dumb to me too.

  • @hockeypunk136 oh in that case all might not be lost, if he's working on his speed game to fit in with the avalanche system that doesn't nessesarily mean he's going to give up body checking it just means the main thing he's working on is increasing his speed(he never said it was the only thing right?) besides the faster one is the easier it is to line up a body check, besides I'm sure the avs realize they need more physicality not less!.....atleast thats what I hope they realize

  • @nevertweet015 We don't have decent foward prospects =/

  • @dragaodosangue Hishon's a soild forward prospect, granted he is a center the only forward position we have any real depth in but he could be converted to wing other than him though your probably right about a lack of top forward prospects but if we do pick Larsson at 2 we could always get Joel Armia at 11 he's a left winger out of finland and he could be a good pickup aswell

  • @nevertweet015 Hishon going to be 20 years old, 5'10'' and still weighs 180 pounds, not possible to play wing.

I really like Larsson with a # 2, But we need a power forward

Lando, Huberdeau, Couturier, Strome seem forwards much better than Armia, pray a lot to drop one of the top 8 for # 11.

Larsson in this year, and Yakupov or Frk in 2012 would be great =].

    Sorry my bad English. =P

(I have a dream: Lando goes to #11 haiUHAiuHAIUoh)

  • @dragaodosangue ya good luck getting Lando at 11 haha.....

why is it not possible for Hishon to play wing? Marty St.Louis is 5"7 and he's a great winger, size isn't everything(granted are team needs size I agree) but I'd take a talented/hungery small player(ST.Louis) over a big one who lacks determination/desire(Penner,Bernier,Antropov,etc) any day of the week.

  • @nevertweet015 Good point, certainly we need size and power too ... I hope a good shot at #11, I think the Zibanejad would be a good choice too, Larsson + Zibanejad would make me happy. What do you think?

  • @dragaodosangue I'd be fine with that, I also wouldn't complain if we did pick Landeskog, I just feel that it would be harder to find another player like Larsson as aposed to another like Landeskog but we'll have to wait and see what Colorado's scouts think and who we actually do end up with on draft day

  • @nevertweet015 hey im from vancouver so im a nucks fan, but i've been watching colorado closely through this rebuild (if you'd call it that) and Im really pulling for you guys. I think you'll turn it around in a few years. and this draft is a fantastic oppurtunity, you basically get 2 top 10 picks. i would love to see you take landeskog, but, isn't defence you're biggest weakness? i got the impression that's why anderson left. so what do you think of Larson and Saad? he used to be ranked so high

  • @CheStillFighting actually are biggest weakness is goaltending now that anderson left but are D does need a big facelift which is why my perfered pick at 2 is Larsson as for 11 I'm really open to all possibility's I also wouldn't object to another defensmen like Siemens or Beilieau

  • @nevertweet015 i think goaltending will sort itself out once you sort out defence - goalies will want to play for you and whoever you use will have good stats.

i've been thinking about it - you can't go wrong with Armia at 11, power winger can open up space- but the more i think about it, the more i think you should take Bartschi. i think hes gonna be a star. he doesnt give you the size that you will need in a bit when you're making the playoffs, but you get Duchene a really good partner.

  • @CheStillFighting sure another option at 11 could be Prince Albert Raider's power forward Mark Mcniell(spelling?) he actually had more points than Landeskog and despite being a center did play right wing this year so ya like i said 11 is really wide open it all depends on who's available and Tomus Jurco of the Sea Dogs could turn into a real steal for whoever picks him as alot of people have him up with Nugent Hopkins at the top of the most skilled list in this draft

  • @nevertweet015 good points, i like Jurco and apparently he's really dedicated (and imo thats the most important thing in a prospect - you can't teach heart). likewise i read that Baertschi practices in the gym long after the team practice is over, they eventually have to kick him out lol & i had Mcniell going in the top 12 cus of obvious skill, size etc.

but i changed my pick - i think Baertschi will be great, but Armia may be better. he's a scoring machine, and he'll probably only get better.
