  • Can some one send me the link to download this

  • @youssef11223344

Try looking for it with Google!

I assure you that it isn't that hard to find the game via Google nowadays!

  • The 2-16 build shown here doesn't have the new techs or the new final boss, though it is a LOT more polished.

I'm hoping now that Flames of Eternity is making the rounds that the CE team will see reason and leak the true 98% beta.

  • @RySenkari

    I hope so too!

I don't think they have "destroyed" all copies of the ROM.

I mean seriously, nobody would just destroy something he has been working on for four years of his life!

And the existence of the development folder and the 02.16. build prove that not all of their work is lost as these have been leaked just recently in order to give the Flames Of Eternity team something to start working with!

  • @upaluppa By the way, you said the development folder had all the builds up until May 2009, but 2.16 was the last build? Wouldn't that mean that the folder has all the builds up until the middle of February 2009?

  • @RySenkari

    You are right...

I am sorry, when I wrote that comment I must've been fooled by the May date of the alpha build, which was in 2008, not 2009.

I have just checked it, the February build from this video is the most recent one in the folder. If it really would go up to May I would already play the 98% build by now! ^_^

  • This is NOT the 98% complete beta build. This is just the same old 95% leaked build that everyone is familiar with.

  • @DiipuSurotu

    Nope, it isn't!

It is not the 98% complete build, that's true...

BUT it isn't the alpha that was leaked earlier either!

Check out my video of the intro from the alpha build and see the differences for yourself!

  • @DiipuSurotu

I have the whole development folder of the Crimson Echoes project with all the builds from the beginning of the project until the middle of May 2009, so I should know about build dates of the roms...

The alpha is dated 2008.05.29 while the build I have shown in this video is dated 2009.02.16!

  • @upaluppa How the fact is that even possible? Were you one of the beta testers? There isn't even any build from May 2009, since the project got the C&D in EARLY May 2009...

  • @DiipuSurotu

Well, let's just say that former members of the CE development team have decided to release their game even tough Zeality did not want this to happen! ^_^

If you don't believe me, the leaked files are still available via 4shared.com!

Just search for "CE Development IPS.zip" and you will find them!

Download them if you like to, but you'd better not make this leak public if you don't want to cause trouble for the chronocompendium...

  • @DiipuSurotu

If I'd show you the changes made to the future OW map between this one and the leaked alpha build, would you believe me then?

  • Thanks for the awesome vid :) This is a beautiful project, and hearing of it now and again is always a nice thing.

  • @CelicetheGreat

Haha, I wouldn't exactly call this video awesome, but thanks!

I have always been a Chrono Trigger fanatic, to say so and of course I was all hyped back when Crimson Echoes was about to be released.

Well, I was sad, really sad when the C&D appeared and made a release impossible...

  • @CelicetheGreat

Then the early alpha build was leaked and of course I couldn't resist on playing it...

But it wasn't exactly satisfying, to say the least.

Balancing issues made it frustrating to play and the placeholder texts for many of the storyline speech took away much of the atmosphere of the apart from that incredibly well written story...

I was always assuming that the people who spent a considerable amount of their lifetime on this hack wouldn't just throw it all away.

  • @CelicetheGreat

It looks like I was right after all!

A former member of the development team let the 98% beta build slip through unnoticed from the public!

I was kind of lucky to stumble upon the rom by accident...

In fact I have "stolen" it from someones private folder hosted on some filesharing service...

It looks like the rom was given to another hacking group who is now trying to get the rom released under a different name and with minor changes made to it.

  • @upaluppa

I think I heard of that smaller project, I saw a video of a resurrection sort of deal over at romhacking dotnet's forums. I'm waiting to hear more details of it. Last I saw was a playable Glenn being shown off :)

  • @CelicetheGreat

That's the one I was referring to!

They call it Chrono Trigger: Flames Of Eternity, if I am not mistaken...

I have just tried one of their modified builds and I have to say that don't really like the direction they are going with this...

They did amazing work with human Glenn, sure, but the fact that they are making fun of the original Crimson Echoes team, altering the story, removing the multiple endings and throwing in unnecessary jokes and "fun" break it for me...

  • @upaluppa

It's definitely not the same intent--the new hack is almost riding on the name of CE for the sake of riding on the name. Which, there's nothing wrong with it, but most of those fans who are following CE still may be duped into thinking it's the same sort of experience, this Flames of Eternity thing...

  • @CelicetheGreat

    I guess so...

Have you seen how they made Glenn talk in their version?

It's awful to say the least...

Glenn's entire "glamorous hero" attitude is gone because he now talks like an idiot.

The same thing happened to Agent 12 who is now called Agent 86 (for obvious reasons).

They gave him some kind of gibberish dialect which makes it hard to make out what he is saying...

  • @upaluppa

Yeah, I mean, I can accept if they want to change a character... their work, but man, that's not even right middle-english. That's just fanfic made up words to sound like it's supposed to--and it's just horrid.

There is a big difference between creativity and random garble. It seems we're never going to escape others who confuse the two :p

  • @CelicetheGreat

I don't really get the point of all this...

Of course I am hoping that they are really trying to recreate the experience of the 98% build of Crimson Echoes, but for now it just looks like these guys are pissed of (excuse the foul language, but how else should I call it?) by the team behind CE for not releasing the full build and thus trying to make fun of them.

Their Flames Of Eternity hack seriously looks more like a Crimson Echoes Spoof kind of thing to me.

  • @upaluppa

Same here. And in all truth, I'd rather they just make a bunch of posts on a forum with images to go along with the spoof, rather than riding with the hack. I guess we'll wait and see the response. Maybe if it's bad enough, somehow, Crimson Echoes will actually get released.

And oh, how bad it will feel to have this hack not be bothered by Squareeeenix, but the superior locked down and told, no, you can't be played. It will suck majorly.

  • @upaluppa not to mention the horrendous typos and new dialogue that sounds like it was written by a 5-grade...
