Wouldnt use the eraser tool to remove the background..

-Add an Alpha channel to the car-layer and click it to select it

-Then start drawing in it. You'll notice you can only use black/white and grey tones

black => your brush erases the background completely

white=> your brush brings the background back (so you dont need to use ctrl+z to undo:)

grey=> your brush can now more subtly add/remove the background

And you can also use the marquee tool and then delete while selecting the alpha channel

No because the G1 only has like 10 radios and those are for 3g, 2g, edge and things of that sort. no support for FM radio, the closest thing I can think of is the iMeem App :)
