oh God Clinton could you throw her off balance easier? sorry folks- I am with the no worrys club and find this video to just be shit. Clinton does not ned to have her head this low- there is no cow in sight and toomany newbies will try to emulate him. horrible
really the only difference between a good western horse and a dressage horse is the tack. You want whatever horse you ride to be soft and supple no matter the discipline. If you watch the top reining horses, they ride about the same way. I like my horses to be soft but not over flexed, and the head hanging to the ground like most western pleasure horses do is fake. you never see a horse in the pasture go in a painfully slow canter or trot with their nose to the ground.
@Mdequifever You are correct. No matter what the breed or discipline, a horses nose on the ground puts them out of balance. You want their poll to be the highest point and their face on the vertical. If you want to see the bridge between east and west, look up "Doma Vaquera". It is the true Spanish Cowboy Dressage.
@jackrussel0123 I think Western is a fancy dressage, and tack doesnt make the dicipline, how well you use your body with communication, Clinton Anderson can ride bridleless and its coming from his body commuincating the ques
@LuvMyCorgi Clinton doesn't really teach or practice "true" Bridleless riding. I've seen his Bridleless dvd. He teaches Trick riding or "stick" riding. True bridleless riding takes years to be able to to properly. You don't need sticks. You need a simple snaffle bridle. Your goal should be to be able to ride patterns with contact on only your outside supporting rein, and your inside teaching rein loose. When you ride bridless your horse should be in the same balance as with a bridle.
@jackrussel0123 The difference between this horse, and a horse in a rollkur in dressage, is that this is tons and tons of flexing exercises to get his horse supple, and able to do this comfortably, whereas dressage horses in a rollkur are ridden hard on the bit, and pulled into that position without the option of doing do. If you look at a horse trained in the clinton anderson method, they willingly, and easily give their heads, whereas a dressage horse can be seen held tightly and uncomfortable
@qjblondie Thats not true if of classical dressage. Classical dressage horses are trained to where you should be able to cut the reins off and still have the horse stay in the same self-carriage. Clinton is basically a Reiner and doesn't teach any concepts from classical Dressage training, which are essentially the foundation of all horsemanship.

I dont see any difference between western and dressage, do you?????????
Perhaps the clothes but the rest.....I think western riding should be western and nothing else....poor horse keeping his head so deep....feel sorry

if you watch, the reins re loose So its not like he's yanking on her mouth to keep her head there like some dressage riders. (:

@lostboyz704 No Classical Dressage rider will Ever yank on a horses mouth. What you've probably seen are some low-level modern dressage dunces.
