Daniel, you are a freakin MONSTER!!!!.... you should be giving ALL the Roland Demos at ALL the trade shows!!!!! Sweetwater has at least 1 Killer/Model Employee.... CHEERS!
so let me get this straight. if i were to go buy one of these from sweet water, i am given these special tones built in? and if so, how do i go about accessing them? i play every basic instrument but keys (i just dabble) and this will be my introductory keyboard...
@LIGHTRONIX what do you mean if it wasn't "VA"? just curious. i have one. i love the thing. when i figure out how to use it, im sure ill like it even more. it was on display in best buy and i had just got back from working all summer in alaska and i had several thousand bucks burning a hole in my pocket an bought it. lol
@OptimusKind This is definitely a great synth. VA stands for virtual analog. It uses a digital computer chip to emulate the sound and function of an analog synth with "virtual circuitry". The result is a much cheaper, lighter, smaller synth, but it doesn't quite have as much of a full, beefy, organic sound as a true analog circuit using real components. It's pretty subtle but to the trained ear its sounds "analog" (in quotes). listen to some analog synths on youtube to get an ear for the diff.
So... can it sound like a piano? Serious question.

The GAIA has a full extended GM sound bank on the other 15 MIDI Channels. So yes to Pianos, EPs, Clavs, Choirs, Strings, Horns, Basses, Drums, etc.

great patches just a shame we have to pay for them.. would never charge for sound advice $700 is plenty to spend.
