  • can i have a cube? please respond please respond

  • wups i forgot to take it off caps lol

  • IT DEOS SOUND WIERD

  • Comment removed

  • is it me or does gigolo lube sound odd ?

  • how about using some silicon spray for the cube that was made to protect ruber parts in the car?

  • Why not use petroleum jelly? I used it for mine and it works fine

  • @AllenFG86 Well, sure it does, but eventually, the plastic on the inside will start to deteriorate, and the cube will age that much faster. Sure, silicone and jig-a-loo does that too, but at a slower pace, and is generally less messier.

  • where did you get your jigaloo!?

  • nice vid.!

  • what kind of lubricant can i use?not petrolium jelly

  • hey, plz answer. im a begginner in cubing. i got a rubiks brand cube. should i get a diy cube?

  • @jackknife0001 You should definitely get a new cube. Although not necessarily a DIY. I recommend a Dayan Zhanchi, it's amazing.

  • @mynameisdog4 he he i ordered a zhanchi and im expecting it in 2 weeks hehe

  • @mynameisdog4 A ZhanChi IS a DIY.... sigh

  • @ClaymoreQuickScoper Not necessarily, you can order already assembled Zhanchis..

  • @mynameisdog4 A cube doesn't have to be in pieces to be a DIY. A DIY is any cube that can come unassembled. Also, a key component of the DIY is the ability to adjust tensioning.

  • @ClaymoreQuickScoper But you can't adjust the tension on already assembled Zhanchis (or the last month of my cubing has been a lie o_O)

  • @mynameisdog4 Unfortunately, your last month of cubing has been a lie. ;) It's easy to adjust the tension on preassembled Zhanchis. Just pop off the center cap on each center piece. You'll see a screw and a washer. Tighten or loosen the screw to adjust the tension for that side.

    Hope this helped.

  • @Luxy1411 ja

  • is silicone spray good???

  • BUBBLE WRAP!!!

  • What do you mean "work in"?

  • use plumber's grease it works so good

  • Plane 'wobbled' before it crashed xD

  • Wow, if i knew where you lived, id send you buble wrap lol

  • I like methodical tests. Great work.

Do you know which kind of lube lasts the longest (inside the cube, of course)?

  • my god your fast ohhh bubble wrap

  • Bubble rap!

  • Your voice is kewl

  • jigaloo is illegal in california...

  • Comment removed

  • Cool

  • today i got some japanese silicon lube, but it smells like shit, does jigaloo or CRC smell like that too?

  • @MINIMI95020 no Jig-a-Loo smells like a hint of vanilla

  • 12 people bought a crappy Type-D

  • vasaline works great also

  • @XrandolphXm Yeah, but Vaseline dissolves the plastic, and when you take it apart, all of the dissolved plastic comes off and turns your hands black and takes a long time to clean out the cube. Use CRC Heavy Duty Silicone. Buy it at Walmart for about $3 or $4.

  • @XrandolphXm No....

  • 15:31 Rage activated

  • What is giggaloo?

  • Can't believe how perplexed you were about the one that was screwed together really tightly.

  • man the sound of a rubiks cube turning makes me horny:D

  • what do you mean when you say "work it in for 2 min"? does that mean, just rotating every side over and over for two minutes?

  • @confusious45 just keep turning it evenly on each side and turn quickly cuz jigaloo melts the pieces if not handled with care

  • They put the screws in too tight on that last one.

  • BUBBLE WRAP

  • can it be buyed in canada?

  • @Kaniwano *bought

  • can u lend me a free cube?

  • "Ohh, Bubble wrap."

  • Thumbs up for the bubble wrap!

  • What is it he says at 13:50? "from this experiment I am quite convinced that to pop "bla bla bla" is best?? shouldn't he say some number of edges that is the best to pop cause I can't understand it <.<

  • @gadkjakl54 5-8 edges

  • yay CANADA! :D btw did you really pay 100$ for those? or is there a cheaper way?

  • OOH BUBBLE WRAP!

  • '

i used a litle bit vaseline on the rubik cube and smooth motion

  • rofl at 0:30 "ooo bubble wrap.. *pop pop pop*" =]

sucks that the cubes suck now =[

  • lol can I use this in my Science fair next year? I also live in Canada. I live in Quebec!

  • is a Diansheng 3x3x3 Cube any good iv seen reviws on it, it seems like a good cube

  • @uniboy400

YES! I have a Diansheng 3x3x3 from lightake [dot] come, I got the 110g version, when it came, it was bad, but I broke it in by putting Petroleum Jelly for 2 weeks and then removing it and lubing it with jigaloo!

  • I find that baby blood works extremely well, provided it doesn't stain the cube.

  • YAY FOR SCIENCE RESEARCH!

  • -3 Jig-a-loo -3 bought mine at Home Depot

  • wow you like J perms dont you :P

  • @damanaboy yeah, i noticed he always uses it to test the cube.... i do the exact same thing with T perm XD

  • vaseline is an oil based lubricant and what matterial does oil eat through? plastic, and what are almost all cube puzzel made out of? plastic i fave gone through 3 cubes dont do it

  • @thecybercave I use vaseline. A more experienced cuber was using my cube, immediately noticed, and told me to switch lubricants. Vaseline isn't a good lubricant.

  • @jkid1134 yup finaly some one whos smart if you are thinking of a cube lubricant use pam its awesome

  • @thecybercave If it eats through plastic, why does it come in a plastic container?

  • @twilightknight123 difrent type off plastic so it has countering agents in the mixture do reaserch before you try to be a smart ass

  • @thecybercave Lol, even so, it only eats away a tiny amount. I've used Vaseline on many types of plastic before and no noticeable damage has ever been done. The one type of plastic I've found that is serious damaged by Vaseline is latex. All other plastics I've used hardly have any damage.

  • '

i used a Qtip with a very little bit vaseline on the rubik cube side,,,

    vaseline is NOT spreading leak,,,

    lubricant liquid can spreaking leak

  • I find if you dip a tooth pick in some lubricant and run it along all the edges of the top and bottom layer, then work it in, it will work very well

  • I take out my whole top layer and spray a circle of silicone, because vaseline destroys your cube, right? Anyways, It's soooo sweet. I think it's a in-between of the number 4 and number 8.

  • i just stick some vaseline in there baby!

  • Ah, that is the G15 keyboard and is that the G700 mouse?

  • CANADA!!

  • whats "work in" mean?

  • @wesleyng100 Move the cube around to get the lube in every corner of the cube

  • @wesleyng100 it means to turn the cube a bunch so that the lube gets into all of the faces and stuff, it also keeps jig-a-loo from pooling up and gluing the cube together.

Basically, just turn all of the faces and do a solve or two.

  • @wesleyng100 to get the lubricant into all places (... thats what she said) i do it by making a checker board pattern, it works it in evenly

  • @hhhkingofkings888 check the chemical listings, if there is any thing that says petrolium no! do not use it

  • BUBBLE WRAP!!

  • I tought i'd never find someone as paranoid as me with such things as lubrication, screw tension and so on.. :) Nice to know!

  • if u dun mind me askin....wat does workin tym mean?

  • @musicfreak9312 After the lubricant was sprayed in, the cube was turned and twisted for "X" amount of time which would be the work-in time.

  • @MikesCaraX wipe it off.

  • dont ever use vaseline ! thats only for buttset

    use silicone heavy dudty crc

the red can stuff, my f2 just glides now :]

  • @ninemike9 can i use crc extreme duty silicone? green-white striped

  • Hey using f2l and your bigginers method i can solve my cube in under 1.30.00 thank alot:)

  • plane "wobbled" before it crashed

  • i laughed every single time you said lube.

    (:

  • Can u use olive oil?

  • 15:32 I don't know what to say. :D

    Realy interesting experiment.

  • that oooohhh bubble wrap bit was random and awesome

  • i used Petroleum jelly / vaseline on my cube

  • @cj81499 Take it out. It damages your cube. Put something like cooking spray if you don't have silicone spray or Jig A Loo

If you don't have cooking spray for some reason, even use pure alcohol or witch hazel. Its better than nothing I guess.

  • My Friend is Planing to Use Coconut Oil Cause JIG-A-LOO is not available and can't be shipped to India !!

    Will it Work ?

Or Can u pls Suggest me any alternative for lubing a cube in india !?!

  • jig a loo makes my cube slow is that soposed to happen or no please tell me i hear its the best out there i have crc and jig a loo please help

  • @ninja55035 go to 6:52 he explains why that happens

  • @vienkyhotty no i dont srpay that much at all

  • what type of cube is best to buy?

  • @psh99527 F-II Cube for you Thats what badmephisto recomends and i personaly love it :D

  • ill buy one of these off of you.

  • shouldn't you have sprayed on each side of the pieces during complete dissassembly and turned the pieces after the other side of the pieces dried?

  • hey, which type of cube 4 u cube should i buy? like what type or which brand?

    thanks

  • @kckeanu i reccomend mefferts, its amazing, just go to mefferts.com

  • @kckeanu and go to mefferts cubes

  • Thanks =)

  • I use Pam cooking spray it works really good you should try it. Just spray it like two times into the core and your good to go

  • Lubrications not to use:

    - Sand

    - Petroleum or KY jelly

    - Vic's Vapor Rub

    - WD-40

  • @antrikkosolan or superglue...

  • @RCT3rox who in the bright mind would think superglue is a stuff that can make things move easier??

  • @Exalmer Um hello? Have you ever heard of sarcasm?

  • wat type of cubes do u use then. i tried many types of cubes and am currently trying to get an Alpha V. wat cube do recommend?????plzzz answer.

  • @blabla1021 alot of cubers use a type f2 or a c2. from my perspective, i really don't like the Alpha V because its crispy, light, and loud.

  • im the same way with bubblewrap lol

  • aw that poor cubie is left out, he wants to play with his friends.

  • Thank you! btw: bubble wrap ftw!

  • Great video, quick question of the DIY cubes which do you prefer and why?

  • I WANT THOSE BUBBLE WRAP MOMMY ! LOL

  • at 6:16 thats wat she said

  • lol oooo bubble wrap *pop pop pop pop

  • what u gonna do wit all the other cubes?

you got a lots of cubes ..

  • Haha nice bubble wrap part xD

Nice job, finally someone that devoted time to do this

  • This helped a ton. It was quite humourous that you were like "OOH. Bubble Wrap." Small stuff like that really makes my day.

  • Just so everyone knows how it works:

the silicone lubes are too thick to spray properly (and evenly), so they mix it with some lighter hydrocarbons (Its not a propellant, as some people say) It's just a solvent to thin it out.

That solvent does melt plastic, which is what gives the sticky feeling right after you lube it. Fortunately, it also evaporates quickly, so as long as you keep it moving for a couple minutes, it won't do too much damage, and then it's gone.

  • If you just let it sit while there's still solvent there, the plastic will weld together as one chunk.

The upside to it, is that that slight melting will soften any rough edges in the cube, and they'll wear off while you're working in the lube.

It's kind of like breaking your cube in for a couple months, but it all happens in about a minute.

if you're really worried about the wear it causes, either pull the cube apart, lightly spray it, a few times, drying fully between coats, then reassemble.

  • It'll still melt the plastic, but if nothing touches it (and your coats are light so there's no pooling) then it'll re-harden without much damage.

Personally, I'm not too worried, the wear isn't that severe, and you don't need to lube it that often. maybe it'll wear out in 2 years instead of 3, but I'll probably break it, or lose it before then anyways.

  • I use heavy duty silicone to lube my cube. Is jig-a-loo better than silicone?

  • i silicone dosen't melt the plastic unlike silicone

  • PLZ REPLY! if you put to many silicone spray will it do the same thing like what happened to the jig a loo?

  • yes. It's better to add it a little at a time. Pop an edge, spray a bit, put it back together, and turn it a bunch for 2 minutes. If it still needs more, do it again, as many times as you want.

  • Cool video.

It's nice when someone takes a scientific approach to things.

I noticed, though, that when you were popping a bunch of edges, you did them one after another.

there might be less risk of it sticking together and damaging the plastic if you worked it in, at least for a few seconds between edges.

I think that's the reason you had the sticking when you did 8 edges. It's not too much jig-a-loo, it's just that the first edges sat for too long while you did the other edges.

  • That's probably true. In memyselfandpi's video on lubing, he talked about how if you spray silicone between two surfaces and leave them there, the silicone acts like a glue and breaking it apart will slightly damage the cube.

  • where did you buy the jig a loo? I live in canada too :D

  • I bought some at walmart in North Vancouver. I think home depot carries it as well.

It was in the automotive section for some reason though, not in the hardware section with the other oils and lubes.

  • Thanks a lot, awesome video! I never thought about using that to speed it up. I always thought my cube has a technical mistake. I can't wait to speed my 5x5x5 cube. So actually you say that the original cubes with the black lines are better?

  • zaraki888:

there is no difference between black plasticked cube or white, it's just preference. I like white plasticked cube, because it's looks sturdier than the white one. It's only the preference, there is no difference actually

  • Ok thanks for explaining. I actually like the white cube more but I don't have one.

  • the first part was random.. ooh bubble wrap lolXD

  • lol with the bubble wrap. I do the same thing :D

Wouldn't it just be okay to just not lubricrate it? I mean i got mine smooth once i bought it.. even though its starting to wear down. All i have in my house is vaseline D:

  • i first i thought that box was the rubiks cubes lol ooop

    s

  • i finally found jig-a-loo at my local advanced auto parts 3.99 per 10 oz bottle it also says it works fine with plastic

  • I just sand papered it and i works like a charm

  • does putting vaseline in it work?

  • dont put vaseline i put vaseline and it almost fucked up my cube

they say silicon is the best

  • No. Vaseline eats up your cube inside-out.

  • ultraman1234567:

NO! NO!!! never put vaseline on your cube. It'll eat the plastic and... who know what happens?? I've try that, i solve it and wait for a week, I disassemble the cube and What the hell? the plastic is melting! i cleaned it and lube it with the proper lube (silicone-spray)

  • @firecuber, that is completely wrong. whenever you use your cube, if creates a black dust that gets on the vaseline, making it terrible... it has nothing to do with whatever the hell you americans say about melting plastic

  • imsmarturnot1234:

I am not american, i know if vaseline will dissolve the plastic.

  • There's no need for you to loop "you americans" together... FireCuber is an idiot all to himself that has nothing to do with the fact that he may or may not be American.

  • blindwit, I hate you, I don't like this at all. I said I am not american and that is it. You yourself is an idiot, you has nothing to do with non-american. He did a thing that other americans did not. He only thinks that only american are human, the others are not, that's it. I know vaseline did not eat the cube itself, it'll react to the plastic if you solve-solve and solve it, after that, It'll dissolves.

  • I honestly could care less whether you hate me or not. You don't even know me. You're spreading false information, and if you had read my post you'd see that I agree: It doesn't matter if you're American or not, and all of the people in your vicinity should not be looped in with your idiocy.

And regardless of whether or not the Vaseline dissolves or not is immaterial. It doesn't eat the cube. The plastic is going to be rubbed away WITHOUT lubrication due to friction anyways. Figure it out.

  • To top it off, he was the one who was talking about Americans, not I. He was looping you in with "you Americans" saying "Vaseline melts plastic"... Keep up.

  • Vaseline should not eat plastic... It is a non-toxic petroleum jelly. It's possible that there was a reaction to something else inside your cube with the Vaseline; however, the Vaseline should not "eat the plastic" by itself.

  • It's still a petroleum though. And plastic is also made from petroleum. the vaseline will combine with the plastic and eat it over time.

Some plastics will survive a lot longer than others, so it might be hard to tell, but it's still the wrong thing to use.

Stick to oil free silicone lube.

  • I agree that you should stick to silicone, for sure... I think that when people see the "merger" of the plastic and the vaseline (i.e. soft plastic) that it's being "eaten"... It's not really being eaten. It's being chemically changed, yes, but there is no less of it. :) But we're on the same page... Silicone is best.

  • Well, it really depends what you consider "eaten". the soft plastic does eventually start to wear off pretty fast, and it will get thin and break apart, though it'll take quite a while to get that bad.

Some people even do it intentionally for a bit to break in a stiff cube, then clean it off later and switch to silicone

The main thing is that people asking for advice know what they're getting into.

No, it's not going to melt your cube in an hour or something, But it will shorten its life.

  • how do you break the cube in....do you just solve the cube a couple of times for the time limit you told us or is there an algorithm for it? also does it matter if i use Heavy Duty Silicon instead of Jig-A-Loo(i live in the US so idk if we have Jig-A-Loo)

  • Any working in will work, so long as you aren't neglecting the Back, Down, or other unintuitive layers. 100% silicone, as long as it is safe on plastic, is good, but Jig-A-Loo is best. You can get Jig-A-Loo in the silicone section of an American hardware store (California thinks it causes cancer, so maybe harder to find there, but doubt it)

  • k ill work it in evenly. and for the Jig-A-Loo, can i find it at Ace Hardware or Advanced Auto Parts by any chance?

  • Not that I've ever heard those names, but they'd probably have it. Ace Hardware more likely, but Advanced Auto parts might also have it.

  • i found it at Advanced Auto Parts...its the cheapest there...3.99 vs 8.49 at Ace Hardware
