You know technically if they had just told the truth and the cops beleived them, chances are they may have gotten off. Since that guy was trying to rape her, when her brother shot him it would be considered defense of a third person and he wouldn't have been charged. Of course the key would be in whether the police beleived them.

For as cheesy as this movie is, the scene where she cuts her hair and walks out to speak to the camera still gives me chills to this day. It's as if Helen Slater was born to play this role, she does it with such ease. Sucks we don't get movies like this anymore, this is a cult favorite for a reason.

@jeangeniex3 gosh i remember doing all of that!! it was so fun, we used to jump in pools that werent ours at the oddest times of night just on a dare. we walked from south east modesto to the far east side of modesto california in the middle of the night to johansen high skool and jumped the fence and hoped in. it was wen the high skool was brand new like about 12 years ago. it was so fun. gosh i know wat you mean.
