  • 私が昔慣れ親しんでいたのはこの映像です。

    まさにこの声と歌詞です!

  • But? That's not the real English lyrics?

  • @Scarletto1934 During translation they probably wanted it to make sense and sound fluid while singing so the lyrics are inevitably different than the english ones.

  • Excellent! I really like this song too

  • ×毎夜お会いしてるわね。→○前にお会いしてるわね。

  • ×踊った好きはなかった。→○脅かす気はなかった。

  • I still prefer the English version. D: This is nice though. xD

  • Oh my gosh, this version is GORGEOUS! <3 She sounds so beautiful and graceful and laksdalk I JUST LOVE IT! (Why is everything always better in Japanese? LOL)

  • God bless Japan...i love you guys :) konichiwah....i hope ill travel there someday <3

  • Beautiful!!!><. What are the name of these singers-they did an awesome job?

  • From which year is this dub ?

  • Ha ha, his voice is so manry! xD

  • That was awesome!! Well done with the subtitles and translations!! <3

  • This is by far the best version of Once Upon a Dream... I mean her voice and the lyrics are just perfect!

  • beautiful!!

    from japan(=゜ω゜)ノ

  • wow, i think you could learn japanese just by watching japanese disney movies. Anyone else think so?

  • @JStar500 Totally, you might need to buy a few books too, like a dictionary and a grammar book or so, but I learned way more Japansese from these videos and songs than I did in 5 years of classes.

  • @JStar500 you could learn some of the most basic stuff the Japanese people often have different versions of words polite version and informal version and you have to understand sentence structure also english is subject-verb-object while japanese is subject-object-verb but there are lots of other you tube videos and books to help you learn more and this also helps you learn how the words sound and are pronounced which is also very important

  • Just gotta say,,,, I listen to a lot of Disney songs in both English and Japanese, since I am fluent in English and know a reasonable amount of Nihongo, and this is probably the closest English-to-Japanese song translation I've ever heard. The translators did a fantastic job here...it's a pity that lyric translation is so rarely this close.

  • Jesus, look at the power of hand drawn animation. Miss it

  • @silicondrifter82

Totally....I think this truly was and is Disney's greatest masterpiece.

  • oh wow aurora sounds exactly like the english version of aurora when she sings. man its amazing!!

  • @animefreak426 What makes it even more amazing is the translation is sooo darned good. It's like....the perfect Japanese clone of an English-language movie. @__@

  • I just love this version so much!!!!!!!! *O*

  • thank u so much for the subtitle and translation. I'm trying to learn Japanese ..and it's so lovely here with the song and Disney's Sleeping Beauty also my favourite :)

  • Nice! It's impressive! The voice is really similar to the Italian version... :-P

  • HAHAHAHA SO FUNNY! I LIKE IT! I LOVE JAPANESE! Itsa such great language : but for disney.. its just to funn¸y!

  • HAHAHAHA SO FUNNY! I LIKE IT!

  • Not being offensive, but to be honest, that doesnt sounds like a 16 years old teenager girl....more likely a 38 years old woman... but the voice of the prince is just amazingly sexy.

  • @rachelting2009

Well, the singer for Aurora in the original version sort of sounded like she was in her mid-twenties despite being only 19. She has an incredibly mature voice and went on to a gigantic musical career after recording 'Sleeping Beauty'.

  • She sounds a bit like the voice actor of Rangiku in Bleach when she speaks normally.

  • @chinaarumew: No, this is Japanese. Cantonese is a form of Chinese.

  • @ryuusei7 i meant is there a version of the song in Cantonese

  • @chinaarumew read the title much?

  • @MAVworld i meant is there a version of the song in Cantonese

  • @chinaarumew this is japanese not cantonese you idiot, i would know ecause I speak cantonese at home and learned japanese in high school

  • orale O_o

  • Everyone is a critic hehe. Anyways, it's beautiful in Japanese! :3

  • this sounds sooo good :D

  • OUO GAVE ME CHILLS.

  • I personally think she sings better than the original. o . o

  • I personally think the prince sounds hotter in this version. :3

  • Her voice sounds a lot like a finnish version :o <3

  • wow the voice over for this is amazing!

  • You know, I really wish the translations were exact. yours I put trust in, but I wish the lyrics were the same as in english. I want to learn Japanese that way. still, this is very cool

  • Who's HIS singing voice ? I looooove it .. and their duo is simply wonderful !

  • It is beautiful!!!!!

    from hungary.

  • 本当に美しい、私はそれをより好む。

    私は日本語でそれを愛し、英語。

Really beautiful, I like it more.

I love it in Japanese and English

  • Aw I'm so sad, I thought I would love this, but Aurora's voice has a smoothness, as it sweeps from low notes, to soaring highs. This is just high all the time, it lacks the richness, and soul behind it. I was so exited for this version. :( It's still pretty, but it....just seems empty. So sadz.

  • What I want to say here...Hmmm...In my country most of Disney cartoon movie in English language but when I hear in Japanese version...not bad but feel unique, surprise, smiling, giggles and salute also because when they change to their language they do seriously. Good Job.

  • Who make the prince voice?

  • wow. this song just sounds even more beautiful in japanese.

  • XDDD The Prince says あなた THATS SO FEMININE

  • Oh god my ears!!!

  • Her voice sounds just like the English one voice. . .

    but in Japanese.

  • I wonder if anyone else realized that when she was born, Prince Phillip was about 5 years old which would place him at around 21 here. So a 21 year old is courting a 16 year old....creepy >_>

True, that kind of union was normal back in the middle ages (which this movie seems to take place during) but still its a little odd >_>

  • @KOSMOSandTELOS It's not odd at all.. Like you said, it was normal back then. And it really still does happen today, even if not as often. Look at Jerry Lee Lewis and Myra Gale - 13 & 23 when they first started out together. (I know that was still "long" ago, but not all that long..)

  • i can't belive this was done in the 1960's

its very well done consideing its age

  • I think the prince sounds like a vocaloid. =)

  • OMG !

    soo amazing !

    best version *-*

  • Love it!

  • how, this is my favourite prince philip voice. soooo sexy and manly

  • This is amazingly cool and awesome! I'm so happy to hear this in different languages, especially in Japanese! They did such a good job with it! Yay, Japan @amayatokemi <3

  • Wow! This is very well done. Yay Japan!

  • The horse's eyes... xD

  • ooooh suteki <3

Rose? Isn't her name Aurora in japanese?

  • Japanese makes this better!!

  • Its interesting but i find when it comes to America and Japan our cartoons sound just as good in each other's languages, yet other countries don't sound as right to me. ALthough I think this might be because our two countries dominate the world market on animation and we are both good at our craft.

  • @TheRhuen Yeah, true. Japan and America are well-known for their animation. I particularly enjoy Japanese anime more because they have more mature and bittersweet stories, even though I'm American.

  • Her and his singing-voice is like the same in German and English Version.

  • although the english subtitles are all wrong, its still a good video

  • This is wonderful, writing the Japanese on the screen, and then putting it in romaji for non-Japanese readers, and also translating it into English. It's great! Thanks for taking the time and trouble.

At 3:01, it sounds as if Prince Phillip said おどかす気はなかった。Odokasu ki wa nakatta. *I didn't mean to startle you....*

  • Prince Phillip is a pedophile

  • lol

  • Sugee! Cheers for posting this.

  • Seriously, this is awesome. *w*

  • beautiful version of the song~ <3

I can't watch the whole movie with a straight face though. ._. The woman who voices Son Goku voices the blue fairy. I just...can't stop laughing when I hear it. XD

  • 素敵ッ☆(*^^*)

  • Who's her singing voice? I HAVE to know.

  • @aswaxsora: I think it's Makizou Satomi (牧三都子). Hope that helped!

  • @ryuusei7 THANK YOU!

  • @aswaxsora

i think it is Makizou Satomi as she sometimes does other roles

  • @aswaxsora This is the new Japanese version, so it's not 牧三都子(it actually pronounces as "Maki Mitsuko," not "Makizou Satomi"!!!), but すずきまゆみ(Suzuki Mayumi) who also dubbes the voices of Ariel, Jane in Tarzan, and speaking voice of Mulan. So you can also hear her singing if you look up the video of The Little Mermaid in Japanese ;-)

  • second best for me. My fav after hungarian.:) Unfortunately we don't do good sincron voices nowadays.. :( (the new snowwhite is horrible :( )

  • she sounds pretty in jappense

  • That prince is one smooth charmer. I guess that's why they call him Prince Charming. < <

  • God, why is the prince sexier in Japanese? Lord. X3

  • I love Aurora's voice, it fits her so well and the singer did an excellent job making it flow beautifully. And the prince! Oh lord, my adoration for him just rose ten times just after this XD

  • luv it ;)

  • Beautiful!!! Bravo!!!

  • What a perfect japanese voice-over! Superb singing voices and lyrics!

  • WOW.. Such an impeccable translation to english! Love the flair that's adapted to the lyrics (in regards to the story's setting), instead of just translating the lyrics word by word from japanese. Excellent job!

Btw I just realized how incredibly astonishing and timeless the animation quality in this movie. For example, notice the fluidly lifelike movement of the dancing, and how realistic the hair bounces.. Outstanding use of traditional motion-capture technology, I suppose.

  • OH MY GOD- i thought this was the english version for a second!!! WOW!!and the PRINCE!!!! XDDD

  • I'm surprised at how well this translated and still managed to sound...well.. normal! O.O It works PERFECTLY. And it's very beautiful. X3 I think imma learn this one.

  • The voices of Aurora and the Prince are perfect! *_* And they sound soo similar to the Spanish version, which I love too.

  • This is so awesome in Japanese! I love those voices!

  • the voices should be younger since they are young xD

  • Japanese is so awesome!

  • You can tell they tried to still have them sound American!

  • Where did you get this video? I've been wanting to watch disney movies in Japanese, but can't find them x_x

  • @Alimaria: I downloaded it from Youtube actually. I'm sure you can find them somewhere on here...or online somewhere. The only other way would be to go to Japan and actually buy them (I did that too :)

  • rose/aroura sounds like zelda.

  • The Prince sounds like that Utaban guy...

(I bet no one knows what i'm talking about.)

  • @Sims2freakazoider : He does sound like the guy from Utaban! Great show :)

    日本に住みましたからあなたの言うことを分かります。

  • @ryuusei7 Yay! You know who he is! :-)

  • make more!!!! :D

  • ....LOL

I don't know why, but hearing them in Japanese makes me laugh. xDD

I'm just so used to the English.

  • lol that happens to me too!

i'm so used to the Japanese version, it makes me laugh when i hear the English version! :)

  • OMFG! Phillip sounds F***N Sexy in Japanese!!!!!!!!!!!!!! btw im a dude.LOL

  • does every man sound more sexy in japanese??? o.o i think so. v v nice^^

  • I love classic Disney films and I'm learning Japanese so this is great!

    The Japanese version is lovely!

  • oh....i love sleeping beauty so much... when i was a kid,i watched this a million times and i didn't get bored with it....until now i'm 18...sleeping beauty's still my fav....aurora and prince philip are perfect for each other...love them both..this jap version is pretty good....

  • Every time I see their reflections in the water, I always see Cinderella and Prince Charming. But on the top, I see Aurora and Prince Phillip.

  • They did a pretty good job! :D

  • They picked a beautiful voice actress for Aurora, Usually singing is so high pitched in Japanese but this was very good.

  • so pretty!!!!!

  • So pretty - it's nice hearing these Disney songs in other languages, knowing that others in other countries are enjoying these movies too. Thank you for posting for all of us to enjoy!

  • Don`t know why but at 2:21 I got major goosebumps.

  • amazing, the best with french version.

  • It's beautiful song! Who's name? Where can I get it?

  • ...Just a little confused....how can a language sound cliche? I mean, I understand if you don't like anime, but one cultural product does not define an entire language.

I, personally, think it sounds wonderful no matter what the context.

  • Oh, I explained myself in a bad way!

What I wanted to say is that in anime there are a lot of "voice stereotypes" that ruins japanese in my opinion, while in the japanese dubs of disney films there isn't this stereotypes thing.

  • @ryuusei7 The way a language is used can certainly fit a cliche.

  • @XelchanTheBrave I think I understand what you mean. Although semantically, it wouldn't make sense, I think what you are referring to are those high pitched and exaggerated voices/sounds that anime characters make, but here, the Japanese singers sound normal in the Western styles we are used to.

  • @JTeamjesters

Exactly my thought! Thanks for understanding me!<3

  • @XelchanTheBrave Lol no problem. Personally, I feel the same way too although I still love anime :)

  • I love japan! <3

  • I love this even more than the English original! It's so beautiful~

  • Haha, I just cant get used to this, her voice sounds almost identical to the original. Its soo perfect!

  • this is very pretty i think she has a higher voice in this

  • Wow,the japanese lyrics are gorgeus, even better than the original in my opinion. How is it that the japanese can make certain Disney movies sound like it`s their own?xD

  • This was absolutely charming. The seiyuu's voices matched the characters perfectly! I want to watch the English version of this movie now! Now where's that VHS copy...?

  • great job with this classic love song ryuusei7!

  • Wow Prince Phillip does sound hotter in Japanese lol ^_^

    Oh.. cute video btw!!

Sleeping Beauty sounds great in Japanese.

2 thumbs way up in the air! x

  • I like both their Japanese voices. I mean, sure Prince Philip's talking and singing voice is a little deeper than his English one, but, I still like it.

  • whoa... I totally fell in love with aurora's singing and prince philip (talking) voice... well done for the subtitling!!

  • i love this version!!

    so pretty

  • very wonderful voice actually matches the english aurora

  • I love the prince's speaking voice!! Not his singing, though.....

  • dude, this makes me want to see the whole movie in japanese, their voices are so good, his voice is sexy lol great video

  • Why the heck is everyone thumb down'd?

And yeah, Aurora has a really lovely voice in here, an also, the one who thumbs down more positive comments is a pussy

  • DAMN, I got a thumb down, yeah, someone turned into a pussy.

  • oh, i dont like prince philips voice at all :/ But Aurora sounds wonderful, I could have sworn in the beginning that this would have been the finnish version. Japanese is such a beautiful language and suits this well!

  • Thanks for the subs and translations. I hope you'll do more of this or at least get in touch with Marii26.

I really dig the Japanese voice of Orora (Aurora/Rose).

  • Oh my you are correct! Her voice IS beautiful!

  • Both of their voices are beautiful :).

  • I'm guessing I'm gonna get thumbs down for this, but why, pray tell, are all those comments marked with thumbs down? They're bloody POSITIVE comments.

  • I was really confused by that too...so I changed the setting so that it would show all the comments, no matter how many thumbs down they got...I just don't get it!

  • Disney has always had a big presence in Japan because of the strong otaku sub culture.

  • OMG the prince sounds HOT

  • beautiful X3!!!

  • You mean it makes's him even more sexy :D!!!!

  • So cute! =)

  • the prince's voice in japanese is dreamy~!

  • People who are truly in love cry to this. X'D.

  • This song is heavenly.
