  • your video was 2 short

  • I love to see that sign on the plane says U.S. Air force.

  • Fascinujou mne tyhle obri

  • I remember one of these flyin over my school while the ROTC guys were out.

I say to one, "Hey what do you make of that?"

"It's a C-17 Globmaster of course, finest cargo plane in the air force!"

Better check those facts..."I know what I'm talking about do you dare question me?"

    No sir.

I go over to the commanding officer, "Hey what do you make of that?"

"That's a C-5, biggest plane in the United States Air Force!""

Good, now tell that to your subordinate there, he didn't believe me.

  • @Matei18Ciprian Thats right man Pitch for Speed Power for Altitude!

  • the gears look a little wimpy

  • It's just amazing when you see that, I saw a C-17 slow pass in real and I kept thinking , when does it fall out of the air ....?

    But luckily it didn't ...

  • Oh Jeeze!!!

  • good pilot. that ship is massive. those manuevers might look subtle, but moving that mass like that take skill.

  • "BEAUTIFUL:"

  • Flew on these many times going to middle east while in USAF. Not exactly 1st class lol.

  • @hsharrott better than a 130, wouldn't you say?

  • That things probably going about 100 mph but the pure size of it makes it seem alot slower.

  • they should make a gunship out of one...AC 5B...flying battleship

  • @hotlanta35 the prob. wit ur ? bro is they r 2 heavy give off to much heat and r 2 fast for a gunship duty.... bileave me i agree wit ya %110 but the USAF just wont do it ( assholes)

  • i love at 0:22 how the engines get fast then the screech comes in

  • I would have gotten a straight up boner if this C-5 all of a sudden came to a complete hover and landed right on the airfield vertically.

  • Go Baby Go!!

  • any idea at the speed when it flies by? looks so slow!

  • Some youngsters, after watching a video like this, decide then and there that they will fly one of these airplanes when they grow up. Most others are bored, and go home to their video games and TV. Sad but true fact.

  • @ib422000 im 16 and i'v wanted to be a pilot since i was 10

  • @jkosloski69 Please do it, and all the best to you!!

  • @ib422000 i am, and thanks

  • It´s a blimp!

    :P

  • I love this aircraft. I see and hear these fly over my house all the time. It gets really loud sometimes when they come in low to land at Westover Air Reserve base near my house.

  • Was stationed at Dover AFB DE, this was a sight for sore eyes when they returned from trips..I miss hearing the whine of those engines when they take off..Hear them from time to time going into the AFB near my house..brings back old memories

  • My Favorite Plane Of All Time!! Awesome!!!

  • Jesus, that beast sounds so beautiful! I really want a soundtrack. I love planes so much!

  • There goes my peaceful sunday afternoon sleep....again.

  • that's a man-plane. It scares the runway from under it.

  • @pjtc85 Manufctured and flown by Chuck Norris.

  • wtf that is weard as

  • those carry up to two tanks in them too. i went to the RI airshow where they didnt fly it, they parked it and you could go inside the cargo hold (not the cockpit)

  • or 7 huey helicopters

  • thats the same engine as the 747 200/300 why cant they do that haha

  • Not exactly the same, the engine on the 747 is a development of the TF39. Similar but more refined. Nothing beats the sound of the Galaxy!

  • true true

  • Some 747 engines are JT9D's and PW4000's built by Pratt & Whitney and no relation to the TF-39

  • Correct of course, but they do have a generic 'commercial' note whereas the TF39 is unmistakeable.

  • Absolutely...nothing sounds like a TF-39

  • Wrong, Avro Vulcan.

  • Gorgeous.

  • fuck! :O that was swaying like a bitch haha

slow flyby isnt the term for this O_O

  • wow, slow but slicker than shit...

  • Wow...thats REALLY close to stalling...that looked slower than takeoff speed...which you cant really judge from the ground but still

  • Is Stewart a military or civilian airport?

  • Civilian Airport run by the Port Authority of NY and NJ. The Air National Guard is a tenant on the field and offers the primary fire and crash protection for the field.

  • I'm going to miss the C-5's if they switch the 105th over to C-17's. I love watching the C-5's fly over my office, they shake the windows.

  • they problyy wont tho

  • Lots of reports in the public media and military press that they're looking to go to C-17's in FY 2009. I'd post a few of the articles, but the Tube won't let me.

  • I love the sound of jet noise. That sucks that there might not be c-5's no more there. That reminds me of how they stopped production of the f-22 :(

  • nice vid thanks buddy

  • very noisy plane

  • close to stall......

  • geil

  • Shes a big girl...

  • I was stationed near Ramstein AB, and to watch one of these take off is incredible. They appear to be so seemingly slow at take off. It looks as though it's going to just fall right out the air. This is one Amazing Aircraft!

  • Thanks dude. Great stuff. I dug the airshow this year as well-love the jets.

  • incredible capacities !

  • nahh the B2 landed in britain a few years back at an airshow at RAF Fairford which i live about 30 miles away from so any US training excersizes i usually get a glimps of some F 16's and B1's they've now got two B2 hangers and an inflatable B2 hanger dont ask why it looks like a beige bubble.

  • that plane makes my wee wee tingle.... the most badass bird I have ever seen!!!!

  • It wasnt a stall, Stall is somewhere around 140 knots. I dont think he was going much faster than that though. Its so big, it looks like its going slower than it is. a 258" wingspan keeps em up.

  • Another amaizing machine.

  • love the sounding of those engines

  • I lived 2 miles in the flight path of a military airport with C5's flying out all the time. The sound is not pleasant at 3 am.

  • I feel your pain. I use to be stationed at Norfolk Naval Base which is basically across the street from Norfolk Air Force Base. Man you can hear those things taking off while inside the ship. I stood right under its takeoff path one day just to see how loud that thing really is. Luckily I still have some hearing left lol. Loud is an understatement

  • Nor was it in '76-

    At Travis AFB Calif-

3 AM and jet lag after X/C trip to sisters' place- nephew playing record at this hour, and C-5's were shrilly running engines on flight line- I WOKE UP IN LOVE THIS MORNING- Partridge Family- was record he was playing- I was NOT pleased with him at that moment!

  • haha i live right across the river from here and see or at least hear one of these over my house every day.

  • Same here - they seem to follow RT 52 into Newburgh. Tuesdays and Thurdays in spring = touch-n-go pilot requal. days.

  • i feel your pain too... I live about a mile from the defence hub of northern Australia... we have 2 naval installations, a major army base and the air force base... so 4 bases PLUS the civie airport... all served by the same runway... 24hrs a day... at least i know what C-17's and F/A-18c/f's sound like... sounds like FREEDOM! (ps please dont laugh at us cos we still have f18c's! its not our fault we spend our defence budget on beer xD)

  • oh and the same airport also serves heaps of visiting forces. Its not unusual to see a few US aircraft sitting on the tarmac. there was a few f15s here a few days ago... no idea why... and this same airport is the only place outside of any US base that the B2 has landed. Im so glad we're allies!

  • @razgriz87

I was standing under the flight path as the C-5 first left the ground and flew over us on it's maiden flight. The sky seemed to darken.

Thanks for being our great friends!

  • it looked like a stall

  • Huh??? If it were a stall the plane would've ended up in a large pile of burning aluminum.

  • i know, but it flew very very slow. i thought it was going to stall

  • Actually, we were flying at about 110 knots or 124 mph. If you notice that flaps are full down which allows for the slow speed. The rocking was because I was throwing the yoke full left and right. Kinda waving to the crowd. I was the aircraft commander of this flight. Fathers day in 2003. I have since retired and do miss the galaxy though not the BS of the military.

  • yeah, and in this configuration (~430k with full flaps and 15 degrees of bank) the stall speed was only 87 knots.

  • One took us and our hawk missile from California to Hawaii in the mid-70s

  • For a plane that size it appears to have a pretty good roll-rate!

  • oh, my god, do you know the meaning of "it looked like"?

  • ive always LOVED the sound of this bird. Sounds like its gonna fuckin fall apart hahah.

  • Hey GoBigGoGalaxy - Are you "waving" to the crowd at around 20 seconds?

  • Big up to all the airmen at Stewart.

  • I am the pilot of this video. We had a 115 knot approach speed, during the go-around we were able to go beyond 45 degrees of bank because we were already at our flap retraction speed. The aircraft only weighed about 430K pounds. I have more than 5000 hours in the Galaxy. I will sure miss the "Whine" of the engines when they put the new GE engines on them. Cheers!

  • haha me too, LOVE how it sounds

  • As a C-5 jet mechanic, I will miss the sound but I will gladly say goodbye in exchange for the CF6 which has 4 times the average wing life over the 60's TF-39-1C

  • Those things are so big... When u sit in the aproach line of one its total darknes!

  • B-52 pilot was a reckless fool who took 3 other lives along with his own. One of those who were on board took the place of another crewman to spare him the possible fate that he himself would suffer- He knew the pilot's rep, and did not allow the other guy to fly that day, taking his place- H E R O :)

  • What a memorable and very touching story of self-sacrifice. A hero indeed. That incident should be known more widely, and the man in question honored.

  • You are a True Ass-Clown! Let the Tax payers see what they get for their money!

  • seems like it nearly stops in mid air

  • geiles video ! love u

  • i was there that was a really god airshow

  • That low speed turning manuver reminds me of that b-52 crash years ago.

  • I was just thinking of that...Except these pilots are doing everything right, unlike those idiots who crashed the B-52 while trying to do a circle around the tower.

  • abosluter wahnsinn! sieht aus als hätte der nur tempo 30 drauf und will jede sekund vom himmel fallen. 5 sternchen!
