  • I am still reading Child 44 and astonish on author tremendous talent - writing so much details about Soviet Union so correct …I did hear from my grandfather, born in 1923, those stories by the same way…thank you Tom- for depicting Soviet society of Stalin times so correct…

  • Russian poet and writer A.Pushkin back in the XIX centure used to say that if you want to hear something rediculous ask a foreigner what he thinks of Russia - judging by Mr Smith's novel child 44 - not much changed since then - ;D

  • looking forward to reading the secret speech now!

  • Child 44 would make a fantastic thriller movie

  • @kenshirosouther so true..but i think you must cut off some scenes from the book to get it in a ´´movie-structure´´

  • @kenshirosouther Ridley Scott (aliens, the grey, prometheus e.t.c) has purchased the film rights for a Child 44 movie.

  • Awesome read! I am looking forward to reading more of his novels.

  • 715 views in six months? Me, the first to leave a comment at all? Okay, so it's the publisher's YouTube account and not some cool slacker dude's, but Child 44 is an amazing novel. As a writer Smith is merciless - his use of free indirect discourse completes the vignettes that punctuate his central narrative, and the tragedy which befalls each of these minor characters is felt as deeply as if theirs was the main story. Read this novel.
