Like you, Ive owned a band saw for years but never thought of making a bandsaw box...until now! I loved the video & will absolutely make a box now. But in addition to the box you shared another great piece of info with the website lumberjocks. Would you mind sharing other sites you find useful? Thanks Steve!

  • Well done!

    Good description .

    Very helpful.

  • My Wife loves collecting jury boxes this would be great for an Jury box

  • Could you make this same box with a scroll saw?

  • @sgknexmaker You could make one, but it would be about 2 inches, unless you take a lot of boards, say 4, then you could cut them all out the same and glue them together like that. I hope that helped and hope you understand.

  • @Skitch777 Alright, that's what I thought, thanks a lot :)

  • @sgknexmaker No problem, Have fun

  • Very nice

  • You remind me of John Green of the Vlog Brothers in some way ... i have no idea why.

I love your work .. hope to see more stuff .

By the way .. what is a goot price for a band saw ... a good one and not too expensive ?

  • thanks a lot for all your uploads...you teached a lot things to me... i am new in this job/hobby :)

  • I don't know why I am watching this, I'm not even a carpenter.

  • Perfect project for me! I just bought a bandsaw for Christmas. Thanks, Steve!

  • This guy is a total toolbox.

  • Great Video as always!

Do you think a bandsaw is a good tool to get for a workshop as I have numerous other tools and dont know whether to get one.

  • I just can believe how simple your boxes are! Wonderful work! I try something this winter using my band saw! but it was not as cool as yours!

  • Amazing works and ideas!!!

  • thanks Steve, as always great video

  • @stevinmarin "a little less conversation, a little more action please....."

  • @tmaxey85 and that's why you watched the entire video right? cause you love being annoyed?

  • @tmaxey85 then why do you watch? I think he is pretty crafty.

  • @tmaxey85

    Agreed, very annoying.

  • i was hoping you would show us, by the end of this video, how you put a bandsaw blade in that tiny drawer ('cause in the first 2 minutes it was clear you will never put the entire bandsaw inside) :D

i will never look at a box like before :-<

  • guys awesome

  • What can substitute a sand disc???

  • dude check it!

  • Finally made one last week out if spalted pecan. Giving it to wife for anniversary tonight. It came out wonderful. Thanks!

  • Thank`s from Romania (Europe) !

  • After the box was finished, it looked like a block of bacon that you can store things in. I need to find myself some red cedar!

  • I want a band saw and a license now!

  • I gone bye band-saw.

    It i s a usual thing?

  • What kind wood is it ? I like so much your works thanks,,,

  • How many mm would it need to be?if got one

  • How much would a decent bandsaw cost? Good thickness and lasts forever? Could somebody name same please

  • Hi i make these too. I often use raw wood, make the end of it the draw. so the rings are the draw. Also, i sometimes put in tiny runners.. even a line of glue can be enough on the bottom so the draw looks even spacing around the edge.

  • press 1 rapidly if done do the same with 2,4,8, and 9 xD

  • thanks Steve! im in 8th grade, i just printed of the pdf, and im starting this bandsaw box tomorrow in industrial tech!!!

  • Well,....... I don't care much for de-caf either. Just pickin atcha!

    The box was nice.

    High five?????

  • I've Got Wood!

  • I'm sorry I know what product to use at 7:15? I did not understand I don' t speak English =C

  • @Ferux95 Danish oil. (Or linseed oil)

  • i got a table top bandsaw not big, but its like 3 or 4 inches of blade is that enough clearance to make a smaller one you think?

    nice box that looks cool

  • Ever thought about de-caf?

  • @workonitm8 decaf is for sissy's- you can sleep when you're dead.

  • steve good job, i tried to make one last night but my band saw blade is too wide and wont cut a sharp enough angle.what width is your band saw blade?keep up the good work

  • @TheEamonn1 1/4"

  • Dude this is insane thanks alot thats what I am going to be making for my wood work class. :D

  • can you do some other simple designs as im not very good at thinking thinks up lol

  • Verry cool man, thanks for posting. now I want to make one.

    best wishes

    Peter, UK.

  • thanks for the vid!

You ar like mix of dr house and tim the toolman taylor:)

  • steve had to much coffee before this video

  • looks like bacon with the finish lol

  • Young Dr. House on meth.... without the cane

  • does danish oild show extra glue wiped of the wood like stain does

  • looks like wood and weed is a good combination. Thanks for sharing!!

  • @rodriguezjoaquin Storage purpose maybe...

  • @rodriguezjoaquin saws and weed isn't though!

  • OMG Greg House is doing woodworking :) You got some positive energy bro, cool video!

  • i am always looking for new ideas and this was very original, I will be watching out for more stuff from you

  • Like at 3:38 you should be careful when cutting a overhang on the bandsaw. Matthias Wandel did this and it kind of kicked down.

  • You should make a video of how to make a 2 drawer box

  • Pretty box man :)

  • dude, too much coffee before filming lol

  • Brilliant! I'm gonna get me a bandsaw!

  • Is he drunk ?

  • @theFiXXXeRgr no hees not drunk hees just a good persuader to make bandsaw boxes

  • im scared to make stuf in my shop cuz i started last sumester but seing this vid im more confident and am gona impress my shop teacher next year and myself-thanks stevinmarin coming from widefield highschool co springs, colorado

  • neeto moskeeto

  • You can use your drill press as a spindle sander.

  • @lXXXXlXXXXl Sand as much as possible before assembling it. Then, it's just a lot of elbow grease.

  • Hi, Steve,

First of all, I love your enthusiasm! Too many people are so "humdrum" and don't stir anything within us except feeling the need to take a nap! You, on the other hand, get people pumped up to actually do something! Good for you!

BTW...Did you send the guy in Texas (that sent you the Cedar) a bandsaw box? Take care and keep the videos coming. :-)

    Blessings,

    Susan

  • tnx man

  • G"Day Steve.I am a woodworker from Australia and i think that your technique is awsome.Keep up the great work.We have some fantastic wood here in aust and i cant wait to try my hand at some boxes. Thanks for the inspiration.

  • Well steeve...

  • Well at least I won't be sleeping while watching this video with my headphones

  • Hi Steve, Thanks for the video, I keep an eye out regularly as I really enjoy watching projects that I might actually be able to do! Word of warning to people watching this video: If you do not yet own a bandsaw and buy one in part to be able to make these boxes, buy a big one (bigger than my 9" Skil). Some (all?) little ones are not powerful enough to cut anything much heavier than cedar at 4" thick. My first attempt turned out ok - my daughter loves it & that is all that really matters :)

  • Hola , que tipo de sierra necesito para este trabajo !! muy bueno su trabajo////

Hi, what kind of saw need for this job! very good work

  • you should switch to decaff

  • You need a bandsaw fence. kreg makes a nice one that should fit your saw. You are scaring me with your technique. I feel like one of your videos is going to be a lesson on first aid.

  • @dartyr Yeah, sometimes I use a fence. But to be honest, the bandsaw is one of the safest tools. It's all downward motion.

  • @bistnenutte if you have a problem with Steve dont watch his videos then lots of people like me enjoy watching Steves videos and if you haven't noticed no-one cares what you think

  • OMFG that is soooooo cool :D ahah

  • WHY ARE YOU SHOUTING?????????????????

  • Hey Steve. Exellent video. Inspired me so much that I purchased a bandsaw. My wife hates you because that money was intended for a washer and dryer. She made me show her this video. She wanted to know what you looked like and where you lived. Oh well, there is always the Witness Protection Program. I was just wondering what are the dimensions for this particular box? Height, width and depth. I would like to build the same box as my first one. Thanks.

  • stev tht is so clever what ye made,i would lov a little workshop of my own,you really make woodwork fun and its what it should be!!!

  • @bistnenutte I've been working on my speech. My apologies for offending you. I hope I've improved since this video! BTW, I'm pretty sure I understand GAY (at least in the homosexual sense) but what does fak mean?

  • @stevinmarin hahaha yea man, your shit is actually really good. I just dont have all the tools necessary to make all this, however it was very interesting and looks easy enough.. but fak mean FUCK. im sure u alredy knew that. I guess this was one of your first vids. and like i said. very impressive, keep it up. just be more prof about it as far as the yelling and jokes. PEACE btw can you make secret compartments for a desk or drawers? please let me know!! thak you! i subscribed btw

  • @stevinmarin You are soooo awesome!!! and thank you!

  • Hi Steve,

What kind of bandsaw do you have.

    Dan

  • @MrDanthefisherman1 It's a Rigid 14" saw. I like it!

  • Your yelling makes me think that you are the Billy Mays... the wood shop version

  • 1:48-1:52

  • I just got a bandsaw. Naturally I forgot all the things I couldn't make because I didn't have one...so I googled what I can do with a bandsaw...and voila, you appeared. I love your style and your boxes! They look insanely difficult. I'll go make one now. Thanks for giving me such an awesome head start!

  • thank you so much for this, you dont know how much it helped.

  • Good job Steve- band saw boxes rule. I enjoyed reading the comments here, especially the one about making a book about something so simple. Hmmm- there are 4 that I know about. To answer a couple of questions- PS Wood makes Timberwolf blades in 1/8", including custom lengths. I use them a lot. You can use your drill press as a spindle sander with sanding drums. You want to make the outer sides smaller- removing the kerf will make the opening too big otherwise. woodworks-by-donna

  • oooh, double rainbow!

  • Jesus. When the video started I thought it was Doctor House.

  • Cocaine's a hell of a drug.

  • no more cereal with suger lol

  • Pretty cool!

You remind me of "House", both in appearance and mannerism.

  • I love your ford =)

  • I think the REAL art is, not to cut himself after all the pot he must have smoked .. ;-)

  • Has anyone told you that you could be Hugh Laurie's cousin? Minus the accent of course...

  • Look how that brings out the grain! UUUUGH, It's beautiful.

  • Dude you are awesome thanks so much for simplifying it down for me I love it!

  • "Well Steve, there's plenty of books on the subject!" "Yes, but... that would require... you know, reading?"

    XD

  • looks like bacon

  • No i was actually asking why are you shouting so loud in this video...

    Just kidding

  • thanks. i just got a bandsaw for christmas, and have some more advanced projects i want to try with it, but im gonna do this for practice first.

  • After seeing your vid I went into the shop and made a couple of these band saw boxes from mahogany. They made great last minute Christmas gifts.

  • "I'VE BEEN USING A BANDSAW FOR MANY YEARS NOW WITHOUT HEARING PROTECTION AND I... Oh. Sorry... Didn't mean to shout..." XD

Seriously, though - cool project. I just built a 16" bandsaw based on Matthias' plans at woodgears.ca and I've been having a lot of fun using it. I've made some puzzles and a reindeer figurine, and parts for the gong stands I custom build for a guy who sells gongs, but I haven't made a box yet. I guess now I'll have to try it. Thanks for the inspiration!

  • what if we dont have a band saw

  • Beautyfull ! So uncomplicated !

The woodcombination is very fine !

  • I made a pretty big one, and the blade wandered a bit. this was only an issue for getting the drawer in and out, but people should be prepared for some sanding.

  • Use a small syringe to glue the joint back together.

  • Thank you! What a fun project!

  • 1 Beefy chunk thats what she said!!!!!! LMFAO!

  • i absolutley love your voice!! XD

    "WELL STEVE..."

  • and.... 'reading'' ...

    lol

  • I'm gonna try a purpleheart and maple box today!

  • @EdgarDirby Oh, past me. What dreams you had...

  • @EdgarDirby In your face slightly less past me, I just got the pieces glued up today!

  • can one use a scroll saw?

  • @MegaBookworm25 i did but you would have to make it rather small depending on the size of your scroll saw

  • So you are a skilled woodworker. And i was wondering. Are you able to make the Heart Locket as seen in the movie The Illusionist. In the excact state seen as in the movie?:) This is my challenge to you and i hope you enjoy doing it. Good luck and have fun^^

  • What is the cutting depth on your bandsaw??

  • @TheXXSCOPEDXx I think it's about 8".

  • i feel like he's trying to sell me a car by shouting at me.
