I feel sorry for Sony. They tried, but the expensive price tag the Vita has in comparison to the PSP, plus the fact you can hack a PSP and get more enjoyment out of it if you like retro games makes the PSP better to most. I also have a feeling they aren't going to make any more handhelds if this thing's sales don't increase...
the vita is not designed to take over the market just to grab sony's piece and as i said before weather you like it or not Call of Duty is the best selling game on the planet if they can bring that console experience to the vita you will see the vita explode trust me you are correct in saying software sells hardware and thats the game that will sell the Vita in North America and probably Europe and if you remember correctly the 3DS's launch was almost as dismal and it got better.
@GeneralMLD you are right but think of how awesome a port to the handheld would be being able to take that on a bus and rock a match of domination or search and destroy till you get to your destination would be great and with elite integration you would have much of the same abilities and social options they offer on the console. The vita is designed to parallel the PS3 and because it runs almost the same graphics and now has dual analogs i think a cod would go a long way to help it succeed
or great software and the vita will be getting both in spades there is too much emphasis put on how well the vita does initially in Japan. The most popular game there is Monster Hunter for both the psp and the 3DS when a monster hunter comes for the vita sales will take off there just like for the psp. price is a huge issue with consumers the wii outsold the xbox and ps3 early because of its casual play yes but mostly because it was significantly cheaper. The Vita will flourish give it time.
I respectfully disagree i believe the Vita will do fine based on 1. price drops which are inevitable and 2. software. The 3DS has a head start and some great games but for a gamer like myself who wants the console experience on the go and not give up too much in the way of graphics it is perfect, and another thing you are forgetting a Call of Duty is on its way for it with that in mind you have to respect the Vita's chances consoles never sell well at launch cause people wait for price drop...
Also just to get this out there i think the psp ds 3ds gameboy and every other handheld sucked until the vita the vita has alot of fucking potential. this is deffinitly gonna be the year for handhelds and vitas gonna start that up. any way remake this video after it launches in the us. cant wait the psn and online features and just the potential that iexpect from the vita in summer 2012 amazing this device is not geared for japan yet at all

Not only that, but Nintendo has always dominated the handheld market. From gameboy, gameboy color, gameboy advanced, gameboy sp. Nintendo has been creating handhelds before Sony created the Psp 1000. What i'm pretty much saying is, Nintendo has been in this market long enough to know what there fans/followers want. Sony doesn't know what the hell there doing with the PSP. The psp has no real good games aside from God of War and Gladiator. PSP is nothing but an over-sized MP3 player.

in feb to march 3ds has RE, MGS (which comes out the day before vita), Kid Icarus, Tekken, Kingdom hearts, Rayman. That is only for February and march. Also 3ds also has a quietly launched an exclusive Ace Combat which apparently is pretty good.

When I press the power button, the display show the amount of sales of the console. The amount of sales is directly related to the fun I'll have with that game. It has a ton of features that I won't list, too.
I want Nintendo to win (and they will) but that didn't stop me from buying a PS1, PS2, a PS3 or a PSP. They had the games I wanted to play. I want Sony to do well, too. @T0pcatFilms lets see here the 3d function is optional and I'm fine after 4 hours of it. they are not all remakes of games you've played a million times before 9 out of the 15 games I own for the 3ds are new games and not remakes and I honestly can say that I've never played a pokemon game where 606 toy pokemon battle it out like that. anyway lets take a look at the vita price vs 3ds, 3ds with a memory card and game £152.99, ps vita with the same £300 easily so twice as much.
@nightmareofkaitos 3D being off, the 3DS still gives you a better experience overall than DS but the 250$ price point wasn't justified and even Nintendo admit it. Playing Mario 3D Land was like playing New Mario Bros on the Wii. Price never been a problem for me, sorry. From a gamer perspective, 3DS was just getting on par with original PSP except the 3D that hurt my eyes.

Now the PS3 sold a lot but it doesn't make money. From what I've seen, the VIta is selling at a loss AND it isn't selling. You gotta sell good or you gotta make money. One or the other and you're a winner. Don't do one or the other and you're a failure.
For me, even the PSP Go is a win against the 3DS. 3DS has the best Zelda game released and few Mario Games... Original PSP has The PSOne Classics (Final Fantasy games, Resident Evil games, Metal Gear Solid games, Parasite Eve games, Grandia games, Legend Of Mana, the list goes on) + the PSP remakes like Silver Star Story + Need For Speed games, Silent Hill games, The Obscure games, etc and PSVita will get all that + PS2 ports like Final Fantasy X and PS3 IPs. Well I sold my original heavy PSP classic(1000 series) after that didn't buy a 2000, 3000 or a GO Didn't really care for those. But I would like a new handheld.. I already have a DS would like a new PSP... should I still get the Vita? (No I am not a fanboy and yes I have played the 3DS at my cousin's it is great but I want to keep my DS and I have data on a old psp memory stick).

@GeneralMLD you are right but think of how awesome a port to the handheld would be being able to take that on a bus and rock a match of domination or search and destroy till you get to your destination would be great and with elite integration you would have much of the same abilities and social options they offer on the console. The vita is designed to parallel the PS3 and because it runs almost the same graphics and now has dual analogs i think a cod would go a long way to help it succeed

or great software and the vita will be getting both in spades there is too much emphasis put on how well the vita does initially in Japan. The most popular game there is Monster Hunter for both the psp and the 3DS when a monster hunter comes for the vita sales will take off there just like for the psp. price is a huge issue with consumers the wii outsold the xbox and ps3 early because of its casual play yes but mostly because it was significantly cheaper. The Vita will flourish give it time.

I respectfully disagree i believe the Vita will do fine based on 1. price drops which are inevitable and 2. software. The 3DS has a head start and some great games but for a gamer like myself who wants the console experience on the go and not give up too much in the way of graphics it is perfect, and another thing you are forgetting a Call of Duty is on its way for it with that in mind you have to respect the Vita's chances consoles never sell well at launch cause people wait for price drop...

Not only that, but Nintendo has always dominated the handheld market. From gameboy, gameboy color, gameboy advanced, gameboy sp. Nintendo has been creating handhelds before Sony created the Psp 1000. What i'm pretty much saying is, Nintendo has been in this market long enough to know what there fans/followers want. Sony doesn't know what the hell there doing with the PSP. The psp has no real good games aside from God of War and Gladiator. PSP is nothing but an over-sized MP3 player.

Playing Mario 3D Land was like playing New Mario Bros on the Wii. Price never been a problem for me, sorry. Vita IS failing and Sony don't have anyone to blame but themselves, i mean 3DS has TWO Monster Hunter games, these games sell like crazy in Japan, Japan is VERY important to Sony, at least Nintendo has a huge audience in the U.S.
If Sony loses Japan that's it for them.
PSP sold very well in Japan thanks to Monster hunter (best selling PSP games of all time).

Sony hasn't learnt from his mistakes. Nintendo is just making the same thing as they did with the DS. I wouldn't be surprised to see a remake with a 2nd stick by around summer's 2012.

@PhantomX1991 Nobody thinks the PSP was a failure (I hope). It wasn't first place but it sold a shit load and it was a profitable console. The only problem it ever had was moving software. Hell, I bought two PSP's!
Now the PS3 sold a lot but it doesn't make money. From what I've seen, the VIta is selling at a loss AND it isn't selling. You gotta sell good or you gotta make money. One or the other and you're a winner. Don't do one or the other and you're a failure.

For me, even the PSP Go is a win against the 3DS. 3DS has the best Zelda game released and few Mario Games... Original PSP has The PSOne Classics (Final Fantasy games, Resident Evil games, Metal Gear Solid games, Parasite Eve games, Grandia games, Legend Of Mana, the list goes on) + the PSP remakes like Silver Star Story + Need For Speed games, Silent Hill games, The Obscure games, etc and PSVita will get all that + PS2 ports like Final Fantasy X and PS3 IPs. Vita worth his price..

Well I sold my original heavy PSP classic(1000 series) after that didn't buy a 2000, 3000 or a GO Didn't really care for those. But I would like a new handheld.. I already have a DS would like a new PSP... should I still get the Vita? (No I am not a fanboy and yes I have played the 3DS at my cousin's it is great but I want to keep my DS and I have data on a old psp memory stick).
