I've been practicing this on Piano and at times on keyboard to a pipe organ sound for 2 weeks, the calmness I feel is amazing, this is a masterpiece of music and serenity, the title is so perfect.
@angelefza Schubert was an Austrian composer who died in 1828. He was not of the correct time period nor of the proper nationality to ever have been involved in fascism, let alone Nazism. Please do your homework on the composer before making false accusations.
Good you plz go take a look to my new composition. THe subject is WW2 and it has been composed for 2 pianos. It would be really appreciated and i'm sure you will also like it ;) Many Thanks in advance !
@watutman DUDE. THANKS YOU. I AM WRITING ABOUT GERMANY. AND I KNEW I WANTED TO SAY SOMETHING BUT I FORGOT. YOU REMINDED ME THAT HITLER LOVED GOOD MUSIC . THANKS. SORRY FOR DISTURBING YOU.
@Timetravel4 Ohhh. I would not say that. Did you know that Hitler would, before his "great speeches" play Beethovens famuous things such as Egmont and the Symphony nr. 5. And he loved Wagner. Because of that people see in those peaces racism. Most never heared of Egmont. He himself was a very gifted artist. And he got throw out of art school not because he didn't know how to draw but because they caught him smoking. He was a genious but I do not say that the things he did were good. He was sick.
Schubert lifts, rises, elevates and then dips down into the deepest melancholy of the human spirit before rising again - like the trout - to confront the torrents of water that it must defy to meet its end. @redhootie123 Possibly those who "dislike" this video prefer the beautiful solo piano, or cello/piano versions of the Serenade that are closer to Schubert's original intention. Those versions' purity and intensity contrast markedly with Ormandy's bland schmaltz using massive, homogenized string sections.
@davehshs I personally like David Garrett's arrangement/interpretation of this piece. It allows his violin to emerge beautifully while the other violins stay quietly in the background. He also uses some beautiful harmonics I don't tend to hear in other interpretations.
just in case anyone cares this version is by the Philadelphia Orchestra, and was conducted by Eugene Ormandy. I'm not sure what year it was performed in, but Ormandy was conductor between 1936-1980. Many think it's a NY Philharmonic piece because the first track of the album thatiTunes use an NY recordiing, so iTunes label all tracks as NY Philharmonic....

Do you wanna know why this music is billions of years ahead of gaga's? Because Schubert was a guy living under no recognition, no fashionsim and bizarre out-of-proportions vanity. He didn't think he had fans or admirers, he just loved the music. If gaga lived through this rough conditions it would be clear that she is just a vain and proud person who loves self indulgence under a veneer of "humble" or "genius".
