Holywood doesn't know crap about politics or bureaucracy. They know how to make silly movies and spout liberal opinion though. The government doesn't need to be in the business of creating jobs. The government needs to be in the business of letting businesses create jobs. Stimulate manufacturing, small business, and the construction and maintenance of current infrastructure. That's all government needs to do.

Why can't a President back this up? Unemployment is a big problem, people are in poverty because of greed and corruption. So Politicians need to get their heads out of the sand and make changes and make it happen. But they won't Politicians are selfish money slugs. So this Government is hopeless. How sad?

On the right they are just ideologically against the government doing anything that they don't want it to do which is help businesses over consumers so they wouldn't do it either.

@teufelkim Yes, you can create jobs out of thin air. Drive down any road. What do you see? Besides the pot holes and trash on the side, you see people hanging out, sometimes with abandoned houses. The US Govt could say tomorrow, "anyone who wants to work, sign up downtown at your City Hall. We'll fix every road, pick up all trash, we'll put all telephone and electric lines underground." That;s just to start. It can work.

@teufelkim The Bush/Obama Tarp program was borrowed money, ALL to pay for police, fire and govt state and local employees. No layoffs there and that's mostly union jobs. BORROW the money and at super low interest rates. TAXes should drop in a few years after all the people get back to work. We HAVE to get this economy moving. OBAMA has failed us.

Some would say it's not the responsibility of the Gov. to find people jobs, but he's right-the feeling you get when you finally get that job, and the weight is off your back, your attitude changes, and that's exactly what makes an economy thrive. How do you have consumer confidence when you don't have a pay check. I wish ANY president would have the balls to make a speech like this.

If the Japanese govt starts selling AMerican bonds, for the rebuilding effort, for the 300,000 + homeless.. interest rates in America will increase, and the overall effect will be a fiscal splash across the world.. cause the Dollar isnt stable. Yes your right, the Govt doesnt have the responsibility, however it does, when it comes to value.. i mean seriously, billions are made in derivatives.. when it has no value !.

@ARP7777777 Interestingly, Clinton is the most popular politician in the world now. Many do want to hate him, but mostly due to right-wing fear-mongering, lies and distortions. I’ve been watching politics pretty closely for several years now. Obama has done an outstanding job, given the circumstances.

Besides, it really wouldn’t matter who it was - I will always vote against the right-wing. Right-wing control of the White House, House & Senate scares the shit out of me. Truly.

@ARP7777777 I just don’t get the whole Reagan thing. Do people forget he tripled the national debt? Deregulated enough to create the Savings & Loan scandal. The secret arms deals? Even raised taxes around 7 times or something. I know they like the old, “Government IS the problem” thing, but jeez! Oh, and he hated the homeless, too, which is part of the reason righties love him. They just can’t stand poor people.

Oddly - Reagan was dead against torture. I guess they forget that, too.
