Great video mate, ignore the people handing out abuse. Its thanks to people like you who take your own time to make these videos that I can attempt to play them in a fairly quick time scale. I'm not confident myself in being able to read music sheets quickly so videos like these help me, and others, attempt songs we couldn't have tried before.
Thank you so much for playing and posting it here. I can see closer how each part is played. You're kind enough to go to so much trouble uploading this. Thank you.
@Xhendraful I never claimed I was good, I only wanted to help. Flip video cameras don't zoom well so I had to have it close to the keyboard, and don't really have a good place to hold onto or anything, and i'm not really a great cameraman, so I'm sorry about that. I do have a different tutorial that doesn't even involve me teaching or camera abilities. It's in the video response section.
@MrRicksStudio - do you honestly think a guy like this is taking business from you? My opinion is he isn't. In fact, I bet he's driving more business to teachers, especially since he doesn't go over notation. His strength is in giving aspiring players a nugget of information that they didn't have before...really the best thing about lesson videos on youtube.
Hey, thanks for spending the time and effort on this video... It's really great to see that you're willing to help others. Much appreciated! Shame about the insignificant comments from other members. Thanks:).
@burtonlawrence You see, you (and people like you) are the reason I do all of these tutorial videos and things. Sometimes the occasional troll comments, but you just gotta move on.
I'm really glad I could help you. Around two years ago, when I was just starting to learn piano off YouTube, I wanted tutorials as detailed as these... and that is another reason why I do this.
Wouldn't it be easier if you just read the music? And if you are an authority on this piece (hardly), why not learn to pronounce the piece instead of saying "or whatever it is"?
@MrRicksStudio Ah. Perhaps you have stumbled on my greatest (piano) flaw (aside from tempo control, maybe?). I can barely, barely read sheet music, and so therefore I can hardly sight read at all. I've gotten better since I started creating MIDI files, but I'm still not very good, and last year my confidence in this skill was not very high anyway. And if you still don't like it, and this doesn't satisfy you, please just use the MIDI file. Check the video responses.

@10sTinTh0uGhT If you know so little about playing the piano, why the hell do you post "how to" videos? Don't correct me, bubba. I have a college degree and over 30 years teaching experience. I am a published and recorded composer. And idiots like you make the teaching profession look bad.
@MrRicksStudio First off, I am happy for your success. Don't get me wrong, I am glad that you are so successful thanks to the music industry. However, I fail to see where I have corrected you, or even disagreed. But allow me to break this rule: my name is not bubba.
Why do I post "how to" videos? I post them because I want to help people who want a rather in depth tutorial for free. If you want to make people pay for you, that's great, but I know I could never get away with that. So I don't try.
@MrRicksStudio wow, you make being a cunt seem so easy. Mind you this is youtube. Its casual learning for the casual pianist. Its arrogant twats like you that bring shame to the teaching profession, so fuck off you shit faced cockmuncher.
@MrRicksStudio Wow! What an utterly over the top harsh comment. The guy didn't correct you. There's no need to belittle him. In fact, he was rather self-deprecating.
He's providing free help to those who are looking and he far from made the "teaching" profession look bad.
@MrRicksStudio : You may or may not have a college degree and quite honestly I couldn't give a rat's ass whether or not you do, but why do you feel the need to act like an immature little brat? Do try and get over yourself and grow up.
If you're really a teacher with over thirty years of teaching experience, then maybe you should work on not being such a pompous ass. He's trying to teach to the best of his knowledge with the skills he has, and in fact the video has been very helpful for me. Moreover, I hardly see how being able to pronounce the name of the piece is important to being able to play it. It's French--not everyone knows the rules of French pronunciation.
I would compare it to something between a bull getting kicked in the nuts, and a woman giving birth without anesthesia. Didn't they teach you ANYTHING that was good at college?
You might as well stop composing, it's just awful. You're to classical music what Yoko Ono was to The Beatles. You have no soul, your papers get more attention than the piano. Learn to play... Oh, and to lower myself to your level, I'm gonna call you an idiot, idiot.
@ComradeDragon Do you really think I care about your criticism? Do you even know enough about music to criticize? Do you have any idea what I write, and why I write it (or really, any "composer", for that matter.) Now go back to your computer and whack off to Eminem videos.
@MrRicksStudio I hope you realize you're digging your own grave, here.
Whether or not your points are valid, people are watching you be... less than courteous... and deciding to insult you right back.
I humbly suggest you stop commenting here. You've just shown that you really can't handle replies with much maturity ("Now go back to your computer and whack off to Eminem videos" -- your words). However, if you want to continue, then I'm not stopping you.
@MrRicksStudio I don't think you care about my critiscism. I know you do.
I'm older than you and I know plenty about classical music, and other music styles for that matter too.
I don't need to know why you compose, all I know is that you play like a robot, no emotions, no soul! All you do is sit and read a paper and occasionally you look at the piano.
You're the kinda guy that thinks he is above all other people just because he has a college degree.
@hashbrownsandeggs I felt this video would have been harder to do with a tripod, but if you look at 3/4 of my other videos, you will notice the camera is awfully still from different angles.
thank you ive always wanted to learn this ever since i first heard it! i just really wish the camera wasnt moving that much cause wow im dizzy haha but still i loved it thanks!
@aawdcf I'm very sorry. As soon as I figure out how to get a good take on screen capturing, I'm probably going to upload a synthesia thing.
I have the midi for it already. It's just that whenever I do the screen capture stuff the video never turns out good and is about as helpful as a bouncy camera.
If you want the midi, I suggest you go to my blog (on my channel). I'll probably put a bunch of midis up there in the next week or so.

um you got about all the piano notes you mentioned wrong, E =/= G
belovelyitsallgood 6 months ago
@belovelyitsallgood I didn't get ALL of them wrong. In fact, I can't find where I got any notes wrong.
Maybe you misheard me? G does sound like E when vocally pronounced (obviously the notes themselves are very different).

@belovelyitsallgood I haven't watched the whole video yet, but he got the first G right...
