yeah, I love gajinamul. Whenever I eat it as my side dish with rice, I feel I eat healthy food! Make bibimbap next time with this vegetable dish. Mix it with warm rice and put some fresh chopped vegetable, hot pepper paste, and sesame oil. You will love it.

I MADE THIS YESTERDAY!!!!!! IT WAS SOOOO GOOD! I steamed mine for about 8 minutes though because they got too slimy when I steamed it for 15 minutes.

seafood of all types. they have great octopus dishes (very fresh) like nakji bokkeum (octupus stirfry). the best i tried was there. plus they're famous for their abalone and ppretty much any other seafood dish.

You might want to warn people that when you crush the garlic the way you did that they need to keep their head away from the knife... you never know what kind of accidents may happen.
I used to HATE gaji when I was a kid. Now it's one of my favourite ;) some interesting facts about eggplant (Aubergine). Eggplants are in the same family as tomatoes, potatoes, and chili peppers. and it's a fruit. BUT it's also in the same family as tobacco and YES, eggplants contain nicotine :( but less than tobacco :) If you have arthritis, avoid eggplants as they may worsen the symptoms. Italians call eggplants "melanzane" meaning crazy apple xD and finally eggplants are 95% water. hehe

hi maangchi. i had a question. my friend from college was korean and he used to invite us over to eat korean food. there's this one dish that i like and i was wondering if u knew how to make it. i think it was made with dried cuttlefish and sesame seeds in it. and it was sweet.
I grew up in an Asian household and never heard of salting eggplants before cooking them. Honestly, I can't tell the difference when I do it now, but maybe every little thing helps.
Thanks for posting another vegan recipe, eggplant! I tried making an eggplant dish the other weekend & some were bitter. Found out there are male & female eggplants. The males (rectangular on the bottom) instead of round, are LESS BITTER from what I read! Now I'll try these long type ones. Happy Halloween! You're definitely a treat!

hi maangchi. i had a question. my friend from college was korean and he used to invite us over to eat korean food. there's this one dish that i like and i was wondering if u knew how to make it. i think it was made with dried cuttlefish and sesame seeds in it. and it was sweet.

it is cuttlefish and a sweet spicy marinade.
It is easy and better to have sesame oil Gochujang(red paster pepper) and dried cuttlefish

Eggplants are good for the liver. And they're tasty.
I noticed that you didn't season the eggplant before steaming it. My girl friend sprinkles salt and some olive oil on the eggplant before steaming.

I grew up in an Asian household and never heard of salting eggplants before cooking them. Honestly, I can't tell the difference when I do it now, but maybe every little thing helps.

Thanks for posting another vegan recipe, eggplant! I tried making an eggplant dish the other weekend & some were bitter. Found out there are male & female eggplants. The males (rectangular on the bottom) instead of round, are LESS BITTER from what I read! Now I'll try these long type ones. Happy Halloween! You're definitely a treat!
