  • Both songs are good. And both vocals are good. You could say Neil Tennant's ain't as intense as Bono's. And you could say Bono's is overly pretentious. But why should you? They both have their qualities.

  • fuck it, it's even better than the real thing! Vamos los PSB carajo!

  • Sacreliage at it's best. :P

  • Im a big fan of U2, but i respect PSB, and this is a great Cover.

  • It's a very bissare song but I somehow like it anyway.

  • best cover perfect

  • U2 is the shit

  • HOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIBBBBLLLLLLLLLLLLEEEE...but I like it!

People say that Bono got really angry when he heard PSB would release it's version of WSHNN. So PSB made this horrible clip to tease him...

  • love U2 and dont mind this either ......

  • I listened to the original and once more decided that this version is much better. U2's version is simply distortion of guitar and Bono's meaningless shouts. Sorry U2 fans they have great songs but this scores better than the original...

  • @Actuallysalemslot , ha ha it is not better at all is so lame in comparison, no feeling passion or intensity. distortion or guitar? its magic, and meaningless shouts? im not sure how you come up with that conclusion, anyway im going to say it its lame gay shite in comparison.

  • @TheBigjohn67 So the original is U2's you mean U2 are gay?? Tisk tisk tisk

  • I remember when this song came out a U2 fan magazine said that the Pet Shop Boys had "absolutely massacred" Where The Streets Have No Name by U2. I agree.

  • 1:56 starts the best moment

  • @MrEmanuems I agree with you

  • PSB - MEIN PUBERTAETSALTAER!GRIECHENLAND, DAS VOLK DER REVOLUTION!

  • it was not so funny back in 1991 but now i appreciate this version...

  • I'm a huge fan of U2's music, but this version is fabulous, I really love it and I think this one doesn't ask anything to the original one...

  • the song lost all the essence, the meaning... you can't say it's better than the original, that's stupid..

  • PSB !!!!!!!!

  • u2 is the best!!!!!! GREAT VERSIO PET SHOP..!!! GREAT SONG!

  • phot chobby bass at the bogonning bohbohbohbohbohbohboh boh boh boh

track is a buzz to drive to...be careful

  • Why da hack did his band make covers of "U2" and "Elvis"?

  • This song always make me happy!

  • So creative.

I love the female dancers. They remember me Marilyn Monroe.

  • Love the high energy of the Pet Shop Boys and reminds me my college days. Still just love their music. To see them in concert is just wonderful.

  • gooo----------------d beautiful

  • when U2 heard that psb were doing a cover, they were quoted ,'what have we,what have we, what have we done to deserve this'...lol...serious

  • Faux bono earnestness and Chris with a beanie. References, anyone?

  • @n700mizuho who

  • Bono should of mixed his original with I Can't Take My Eyes Off You....who knows people might still remember him for something more than his charity persona :D only messing U2 had some great songs, kinda shocked PSB released 4 covers as singles this, Its Alright, Go West & Always on My Mind. Maybe even more now been over a decade since I played them.

  • I found this video at a friend's favorite. Fantastic, a beautiful song, a different version but just as beautiful as the original. Beautiful issue altogether.

    Greetings

  • I remember hearing this for the first time and really digging it, thinking it was an amazing version, and then they kicked into the I Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You and it was like the biggest left turn imaginable, just so odd.

Unfortunately, the video is a little dated.

  • I personally think it's good people are still arguing passionately on what is 'good music'.

  • @elisdewaard1 They made another version what's wrong?? It's actually what DJ's do all the time, this is what I call music, David Guetta isn't

  • @elisdewaard1

its a shame that U2 covered it as well isn't it just out of curiosity who is the successful band you mention who wrote it?

  • @fowlergod09

I don't who what you're talking about, but the original version is U2's-_-

    U2 is the succesful band,

btw, sorry that i maybe was a bit annoying, but i just can't stand it.

    sorry guys

  • @elisdewaard1 Post 98 U sucks anyway.

  • from wich year is this song? who made firts this song , u2 or the pet shop boys?

    ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • @mu2ever the original is from U2, but this is a great cover!

  • @gabrielspaceman

    1987-The Joshua Tree

  • from wich year is this song? who made firts this song , u2 or the pet shop boys?

  • from wich year is this song? and from wich year is the u2 cover?

  • Es una pasada.

  • Hmmm. The cowgirl looks like Jennifer Garner, don´t you think ?

  • i love you weston i wanna be like u i love u weston u can shag my wife,,,gillingham chant for the great curtin weston

  • According to some, this was what inspired U2 to lighten up and give us Achtung Baby.

U2's comment on this song was simply "What have we done to deserve this?" - they got the joke.

  • Ive got nothing against this version, but seriously the passion intensity and spirit of the U2's version is so much better, and you cannot compare Bono's vocals to this, these vocals are just lamer, plus there is no Edge magic guitar work nor Mullens brilliant drum work compared to a machine.

  • Oh, I like this one! :-))

  • DONT LIKE U2 AT ALL

  • pet shop boys r an english treasure and this cover is ace,if it never worked, they wouldnt have released it

  • intro is fking kickass

  • Well the original is vastly different and this is almost a completely new song. It's brilliant, and it's what PSB do best.

  • @P1eski No it isn't. The PSB's have barely changed the arrangement. The only real difference is that they've replaced song of the Edge's guitar parts to synthesizers.

  • @BillyIsATwat23 Well for starters it's two different songs.

  • @P1eski

I totally agree its a completely different song and a work of genius.

For the idiot who compared the writing skills to Lennon and Macartney well your talking utter rubbish Lennon touched the world and changed the music world as good as the PS Boys were they were not in that class

  • @fowlergod09 Well it takes an idiot to answer an idiot, they say...between 1986 and 1993 PSB reminded people of Lennon and McCartney in terms of songwriting, if you like it or not. Go and read the old issues of the English music magazine, Q, and see what you will say instead of blabbering things with your shit mouth...

  • U2 may of sung this as well...but 'The pet shop boys' sing it just as well.... You try singing it !!!!!

  • check out biba nova iron man [spunk popsicle mix-awesome cover!

  • geniale

  • @frijoleroable .. This version got higher in the charts than U2s Version without the gothic marketing etc, dont be bitter, pop music is just a laugh... It was a piss take going back to the days when Neil Tennant described Bono as the 8th deadly sin.. The Edge returned the favour in concert when he strummed the opening to PSB hit "Rent " on stage.. They are pals now adays !

  • @ItsGrimUpNorth7

Those things also makes music more fun, in my opinion.

  • GReat song. By the way, who's the cowgirl? She's beautiful.

  • From 1991.

  • Check out this song (Where the Streets Have no Name) live from Slane Castle, and then live from Mexico on the Popmart tour.

Then try staring me in the eye and saying this beats the original.

  • Where's your eye? Ah, there it is. "This beats the original."

  • Great great song :)

  • Love it! The two songs fit so perfectly!

  • This is simply a crime!!! Horrible!

  • Are you saying that... it's a sin? How can you expect to be taken seriously? It's alright, give them one more chance

  • sorry I meant that*

  • if only I was in taht video I would give neil a kiss on the cheek with my lips

  • U2 are a million times better than Pet Shop Boys, not only have they ruined "Where the Streets Have No Name", they also ruined "I Cant Take My Eyes Off You", the songs arent similar in any way whatsoever, the only think PSB did was change the sound of "I Cant Take My Eyes Off You" and mix it in, there's nothing special about it!

As for the comment "It also showed the pompous U2 for what they were", very funny, U2 are regarded as one of the best bands EVER, PSB's are not! End of story..

  • *quotes wikipedia*

Pet Shop Boys have sold over 100 million records worldwide and are listed as the most successful duo in pop music history. Since 1986, they have had 42 Top 30 singles and 22 Top 10 hits in the UK, including four Number Ones: "West End Girls," "It's a Sin," "Always on My Mind," and "Heart."

At the 2009 BRIT Awards, Pet Shop Boys received an award for Outstanding Contribution to Music presented to them by Brandon Flowers.

  • @IrishKingpin1984 You are wrong all the way, mate. Pet Shop Boys are legends and considered one of the best POP bands ever, and Neil's and Chris' songwriting skills remind that of Mcartney and Lennon. Just because U2 is a rock band and hails to the lowest common denominator average music listener, this does not mean PSB should be disregarded. They are intellectually way above that pompous ass of Bono...

  • This isn't just a cover of the U2 song..... they merge it with I Can't Take My Eyes Off You, which is a much older song.

PSB brilliantly spotted how much the U2 song resembled I Can't Take My Eyes Off You and merged the two.

Brilliant. It also showed the pompous U2for what they were and thankfully it seemed to have a postive effect on them.

  • U2 got more popular as their music began to blow hard.

This song sounds so good mega loud.

Its what U2 could have done if they actually had talent.

  • Are they?

Take a look at what the Pet Shop Boys have sold during their run.

  • and i would imagiane u2 are one hit wonders. I would be the first to admit that bono is a tosser but as a live band they have no equal. as for psb listen to kraftwerk and hear where it all started.

  • k lastima k pet shop boys n sea demasiado conozida

lo k se pierde la gente...

  • Which came first, the U2 version or this?

  • it 's the cover-version of U2 song. U2 came first)

  • Dont be so silly

  • Excelente!!

Dos ejemplos: take a chance on me de Abba y everybody dance now de C+C Music factory.

  • Cant take my eyes off you

  • brill

  • It's weird, but I can't decide if I like this version or the U2 version better. Each of them have their pros, and really no cons to speak of. I like the dance changes in this one, but the guitar in the U2 version is to die for. I can't decide.

  • pet shop boys made this u2's good song, brilliant.

Me viste?
