  • He was such a beautiful person. RIP, Horowitz.

  • Vlad the Impaler!

  • I hear the influence of Chopin in his music :).

  • whit "y"

    it's etyudeyyyyyyyyyysssssss

  • @newFranzFerencLiszt There are the Etudes, Scriabin´s Etudes, not Rachmaninov´s Preludes :)

  • i feel in another place when i listen to this, you did it so detailed and expressive that make me... BRAVO!!!!!

  • i've watched literally thousands of youtube videos and this i think will always be my favorite one. :)

  • Спасибо огромное за видео

  • I don't care about the wrong notes but the right notes sound so right!!

    BRAVO MAESTRO VLADIMIR HOROWITZ!!

  • Etiude in C#Minor Op.2, the only piano piece that can bring me to tears, it tells a story of humanity that can only be described by listening to this.

  • @Eyesxlikexaxtarget Etiude in C#Minor Op.2 is not the only piano piece that brings me to tears but I certainly cried hard on this one.

  • His playing certainly got more choppy and disjointed as he aged. His overly percussive style comes out even more.

  • @cowboytim98 What you hear from Horowitz is surreal CLARITY AND TONE, and minimal pedal use. It's beatiful to hear such extraordinary artistry and musicality. "Non-percussive" players bolt the pedal to the floor and play non-disjointed smooth jazz or cross-over classical bongos and all, or they just can't play - period! LMAO

  • @cowboytim98 ......uhh, cowboytim....you do realize that Horowitz was EIGHTY YEARS OLD when he did this??!! i watched this when it was televised on CBS, riveted to my chair in amazement that such sounds were possible from a piano. i never heard anyone play like he did.

  • The uncertainty in the eyes of the girl with the blue shirt @ 5:06, shows how i feel, every time i listen to this!

    "Wow.................."

  • THE ONE HOROWITZ CONCERT I ATTENDED I WOULD SWEAR IT WAS LIKE HE WAS PLAYING ONLY FOR ME. IT WAS REMARKABLE, AS OPPOSED TO A CONCERT I ATTENDED OF RUDOLF SERKIN. I DO NOT REMEMBER A SINGLE NOTE SERKIN PLAYED. THE PERFORMANCE WAS PERFECT...BUT ABSOLUTELY DEAD. NOT SO FOR A HOROWITZ CONCERT. IT WAS LIKE BEING FULLY ALIVE FOR THE FIRST TIME ! raymeo888@yahoo.com

  • This is the etude that made me fall in love with Scriabin!!!

  • I love the awesome pitch bending synth effects he call on at around 1:40! Only Horrovitz can do stuff like that!!!

  • he was no pianist he was a magician

  • Everyone looks so emotional lol!

  • This is the genius piece of music played by the Master and Maestro - Your Highness Vlad Horowitz; the music appeals to everyone's soul which is out breaking and hunting for happiness endlessly. You loose the feeling if it is here on earth and in some other dimension. Horowitz remains so human and playful despite and due to his greatness and talent. Bravissimo to the Music!!!

  • This is the most touching, most skilled performance I have ever experienced--and it is not live, but recorded--which I suspect should lose some impact and effect. A true master!

  • @BrianKimmel it was live at the time?

  • @Rocksolid88 yes, i am sorry for the confusion...I meant that we are seeing it as a recording which could change the quality a bit and dampen the live effect--though its really spiritually and emotionally moving--that said, I assume that live would be even more brilliant and moving. I don't know if that makes any more sense. It's just marvelous, and it would have been something to be there in person, I am pretty sure.

  • @BrianKimmel There are probably millions who would have loved to be there in person, but this is Horowitz' Moscow Concert. It was recorded live and broadcast on PBS stations in the USA, and I have the CD.

This is "One of the greatest moments in the history of music", nothing more to be said :-))

  • he plays the entire A section repeat as a continuous climax. only horowitz!

  • I think he was getting ready for deparure, for which he acquired a better position in front of life, that strongly impacted his performances. At this stage he is no longer the younger Horowitz who was playing Chopin´s ballad Nbr 1 as iif it were a tribute to american soul music with some musical notes from the past. This is our master player. Late in life. Good representation of life power as well.

  • Fantastic !!!!!

  • you never died. You belong to eternity. With constant love.

  • What a return to Russia !! What music, what a beautifull video with all the faces of

the vast country. How ..somehow right this is..spaceba...

  • he was playing this concert when he was 83. But i doubt that exist pianist who can play these etudes such as Vladimir. Unbeliveable energy in this age, unbelieveable. Now God has got great pianist.

  • Why does this video only have 23,000 views? This is amazing

  • @AuppaWappa

This video should have 10 million views :-))

It's hard to find, I think it's the title "Skriabin", and it doesn't show up when you search "Scriabin"

IMO this captures Horowitz at his artistic peak, his entire Moscow Concert is extraordinary, he creates music as he performs. Horowitz' Scriabin 2/1 and 8/12 will never be surpassed, they are surreal, intensely emotional and immensely beautiful. The only other piano performance that affects to this degree is Rach playing Elegie

  • 1:16 that looks like fuckin kissin!

  • I hope he gave out a drop of sweat or two. He is making the rest of us look bad.

  • this is the only scriabin i can actually play. everything else is so god damn hard!

  • most of the greatest pianists seem to be really nice people. Horowitz, Rubinstein, Kissin(I've personally seen him!), and more. I love Horowitz's smile at the end :)

  • Russians=god

  • Speechless, very very beautiful ! Thank you for posting :-))

  • stupid men 1:19

  • 1:07, scriabin's daughter yes, but the other one, isin't she Tchaikovsky's great Grand daughter!?

    I think so...?

  • man my two favorite etudes played by horowizt back to back :D

  • that guy at 1:57 is loving it

  • This man's incomparable playing soared to the very height of human achievement and excellence. What an extraordinary musical figure of the 20th century.

  • look at the girl at 1:16 ^^

  • @ulaninho They all were experiencing revelation, each one in his own way.

  • love that girl with the glasses at 1:16 ... !!! :)

  • loool xD

  • At 1:10 those ladies are Scriabin's daughters

  • his piano attains the most beautifull sound ever. a very mellow with like this nasal tone. i would love to have a piano that sounds like his. of course his hands also produce a good sound. these two pieces are played beauituflly and no matter how hard i try i cannot produce a sound like horowitz does. thank you and god bless horowitz, for god is being entertained as we speak, with horowitz playing the piano for him.

  • 1:07 are Scriabin's daughters.

  • Really???? That's fascinating! Thanks for bringing that to everyone's attention. :)

  • I believe so. But only one is and the other One of the two may be related to Tchaikovsky

  • @tinyctlo ??

  • @tinyctlo lol they don't like their father's music

  • That was so moving. bravo!! thank you for posting this video. :0

  • One of the greatest moments in the history of music!

  • No, it would still be the greatest, since critics (and Prokofiev) universally agree Rachmaninoff overinterpreted Scriabin's music.

Just... don't say something that anal.

  • My bad, I am sorry about that. I just wish that dear old Rach could actually visit Russia and perform there in his later years, it sure would be a sensational event, and it sure would have been an emotionally moving event for both him and the nation.

  • pfff i agree. its like a rollercoaster ride to listen to this... wow

  • thank you for this video
