people generally focus on climbing and don't get distracted by people cheering them on. well, good climbers, like tommy caldwell. the cheering becomes backkground noise, but keeps the tone positive. daniel woods is freaking awesome, and they spent a lot of time climbing together, so i'm pretty sure he would get it if tommy was getting annoyed with it.
Ha ha! Yeah I agree with the haters... nothing more annoying than some douche yelling "nice" and "easy" the ENTIRE climb. A couple pointed shouts of encouragement is one thing but if I was Tommy I would have jumped down and used my super stub finger to poke that guy's larynx in. ;)
then watch the first ascent of this climb in south africa. It was done by chuck fryberger. just search chuck fryberger. notice daniel woods (the strongest climber in the world) cheering him on like no other.

Climbing teams often have a silent agreement on what kind of chering they want and climbers react quite differently to different kind of chering.
