  • @MrOutdoorbob This was a few years ago, it very well could have been him

  • What will happen if I put this veggie oil in to a modern diesel with Commom Rail supply?

  • @SwPiotrek We convert common rail diesel engines all the time. Feel free to give us a call for more information.

  • I saw this video and was very impressed. I was however wondering if there was a dual-pump, or high-capacity version of this? We are considering having a kit installed on a Freightliner Columbia, and 2gpm would take a long time to fill our truck.

  • @Nimbly We have done dual pump filtration to decrease the amount of time it takes to filter oil. Check out our Harlem Ambassador Conversion video we did. It's just one of many where we did dual filtration.

  • I just seen this video about this, have you guys ever tested in lawn mowers? Just taking a old piece of junk and trying that way too?

  • @skateboardergod7 We've converted many diesel lawn mowers. Feel free to give us a call if you'd like more information :)

  • This is a great,Video,,Clear Images,,Clear Voice,,and very simple Explanation,,I was wonderin if you can do a video,,from step 1,beginning,,from the restaurant recolecting the oil,and all the steps,,until you start running the truck,or figure out something like that.

  • Check out our website, we're running a special on our instructional videos that cover those very topics, thanks for watching :)

  • Hello

I have a One Shot Filtration Unit, and works really well. I have a question.

Now here the temperature 0- 5 ºC because of the winter. I take the good WVO from the restaurants to my home and after I pass it with the One Shot Filtration Unit. The oil is not Solid but is really thick, not pasty. Do I have to heat the oil before I pass it in the One shot filtration Unit? If Yes by how many degrees?

    Thanks for the atention.

This is really good work here.

    Regards from Portugal

  • Excellent question. The one shot filtration unit does have its limits. Oil that's thick due to cold temps will not flow well through the filter if it hasn't been warmed up. The warmer you can get your oil the better obviously. We generally recommend in the winter to store your oil in a garage or heated room, let it settle and then pass it through the one shot. In general warming the oil will increase flow and longevity of the filters. Thanks for your question!

  • what about using a pool filter setup it couldn't be used on the go but you can just spray down the filter and there really fast

  • This particular setup is the best one that we've developed for mobile filtration. It's fast, the filter element has been chemically treated to repel trace amounts of water (you can't pump pure water) and the elements are easily replaced when clogged. That said, there are endless possibilities that could be used to filter waste vegetable oil. For more filtering tips check out our liquid gold DVD that we sell on our website, w w w . goldenfuelsystems . com

  • Hey man I'm just wondering how cold this One Shot can operate in? Or even how cold it takes for the oil to be freeze? I live in Canada, haha -40C is frequent...

  • There is definitely a threshold to when this setup will no longer work. We've taken several trips through Canada with this system. Our advice when vegetable oil is solid in very cold temperatures is to ask the restaurant to put the oil back in the jugs it came in so you can take it home and set it in a garage to warm up over night. Once warmed up the oil should pass through the one shot no problem. But you are correct, in extreme cold situations, there is a threshold.

  • That's all well and good, but what about dewatering the oil. If you pulled up outside a restaurant and started to filter their oil it would still have suspended water in it?

  • If you know what kind of oil to look for, you can find oil that has clear and void of water. Any water and debris will have settled to the bottom of the tank. If you make sure to suck from the top, and you have a filter element that has been chemically treated (Racor Aquabloc) it can repel any trace amounts of water that may be suspended in the fuel. We have ran hundreds of thousands of miles with this setup. Watch our Liquid Gold DVD if you have any other questions.

    Thanks for watching!

  • Not sure where my last comment went but here goes again. I have an 06 Duramax with dual stacks, FASS lift pump for performance upgrades and a programmer. Will I still be able to run your system? Thanks man!

  • Certainly, we sold our own after market programmers for a time that were tailored to SVO. We also sell FASS pumps, and they come with an SVO warranty. Your vehicle should be able to run just fine with your configuration. Feel free to contact us if you have anymore questions.

  • as soon as i pay off my car i'm going to get a desil car and start using oil! thanks so much i can't wait. do u guys make and sell those yellow boxes with the filter and pump?

  • Congratulations, hopefully you're able to pay off your car sooner than later :) The nice thing about running on SVO the kit will practically pay for itself and a car payment. To answer your question, we do sell our filtration unites on our website. Check it out and if you have anymore questions, feel free to contact us.

  • over time will running vegetable oil on a diesel engine wear anything out faster than using #2 Diesel, like seals or pipes, Pumps, etc.? Great product by the way!!!! - sam

  • Actually no, SVO will not corrode the seals or fuel lines, that would be Biodiesel. Newer diesel vehicles generally have seals and hoses that can handle Biodiesel, but with SVO you don't have that problem since there are no chemicals in the oil that can harm your engine or seals. As long as you put in clear filtered oil and heat it before switching over, you'll have miles of trouble free veggie driving :) Check out our website for more information.

  • Do you have to heat up the oil first?

  • Yes you do, the whole goal of our conversion systems is to heat the vegetable oil before you flip the switch on your vehicle to switch over from your diesel tank to your veggie tank. If you have anymore questions check out our DVD's we sell on our website or read the FAQ section or give us a call at our toll free number.

    Good luck!

  • I wonder if you can make a custom installation, which happens to be an '89 Chevrolet Crew Cab Dually that currently has a 454(Gas Guzzler),which will be replaced with a cummins. i plan to install a '95 12-valve cummins.I will be using the Turbo 400 behind it,which will also have a Gear Vendors Under/Overdrive behind it.

    pretty cool,huh

  • If it's a diesel we can convert it :) There's only a few diesel engines we don't recommend converting. Not because veggie oil will hurt the engine, but because they were poorly designed diesel engines to begin with. Check out the FAQ section of our website for more information :)

Good luck with your engine swap!

  • is it possible to convert a boat engine like the volvo penta? because a 40 foot boat is pretty thirsty on gas!!!

  • You bet! If you're interested in converting your boat engine, just give us a call at our shop, wed love to answer any questions you might have :)

  • What about for the newer Diesels, it just seems as though late model diesels are being used. Any 2006 Ford Models??????????

  • We've converted every modern diesel made or imported in the USA for the most part. If its a diesel we can convert it. There's only a few diesels we don't recommend, not because they wont burn veggie, but because they are inherently bad engine designs. Give us a call or visit our website if you have any other questions :)

  • wow thats impressive i bet if every 1 started to do this then the oil industry would evntually die out and we wouldnt have to worry botu oil prices going up haha

  • Thanks for putting this video online. I've already learned so much that I can't wait to get myself a Jetta and start utilizing the wonderful world of restaurant fuel.

  • Thanks for your comment, it's always nice to hear from people excited about Straight Vegetable Oil. If you want to learn even more about filtering waste vegetable oil, check out our website a Golden Fuel Systems dot com.

  • oh i already did, and am now even more interested in it.

Do you know of anyone else in Ohio besides the guys in Oberlin who do the conversion?

  • Our authorized installer in Oberlin is our only installer in Ohio. They're great at what they do, give them a call I'm sure they'll make you a happy customer :)

  • Is it common for restaurants to give free (or nearly free) waste cooking oil in your country? I`ve tried in many places (Poland), and i got nothing - they have contracts with special companies which gather oil for a bigger scale. I`ve been running an 1988y. Escort on SVO for a long time, but why don`t try further...

  • Yes, many restaurants in the USA will give the oil to you for free. In our DVD we talk about a variety of things you can do to acquire the oil from restaurants. If you're interested, visit our website and purchase a copy.

  • Wait a minute. What if a whole lot of people start doing this? Don't we run into a problem with availability?

  • We're no where close to running out. Millions of gallons of veggie make it into the land fills ever year. And even if we eventually run out, at least we've soaked up a waste product and are using it for something good.

  • that is just too cool, i've got to convert my 80' 300D, because like you guys said, I don't make 6.00 a minute

  • Feel free to give us a call if you have any questions :)
