i have a year and a half old yellow sided green cheek conure that loves to do the same thing with a green clicky pen. you can give them all the toys you want to even let them pick out their own at the pet store but as soon as you set a free pen down on the table they are the happiest bird in the world

How did you get it so tame? mine is like half tame, it seems to trust me when outside of the cage but inside hes like running away from my hand , also hes distant to strangers...Hes only 3 months old.

@Nallen026 That's pretty normal. Think about it like this; the bird's cage is its "home", its safe place. Anything big and scary entering that place is going to feel somewhat threatening, even if he's usually trusting of you. But you can also eliminate this fear with a little practice. Take it slow; let him get used to your hand being in the cage. Don't immediately try to approach/grab/stroke him. Do it every day until he gets used to it. Then take it a step further.

A cat attacked my Amazon when he was flying around outside, even though I was watching him from 30 feet. Unfortunately, the Amazon broke the cat's nose, and we couldn't save the cat.
