250 Superkart Race Road America

Thanks guys, I build the kart my Son drives it and is a multi time Grand Champion in the sport. Kart has a Gas Gas 250cc two stroke putting out approx 65hp and a six speed transmission. It is a handful as you can see but faster on these courses than many of the cars you see racing. Glad you liked it.

Very recently i became interested in Motorsports. I was thinking that in the future I'll partake once I can afford it, that is after college when I'll be earning... err... the big bucks. That would mean I would be 25+ (maybe 30) and a novice. Is this normal? Would it be embarrassing?

@an0nym005e I'd make a go-kart of how you wanting to. and keep it as a toy for yourself, i wouldnt worry about taking it into racing if ur 30. By then might as well keep it as something drive, and pass cars up LOL.

great driving, shift before top revs the motor makes more power in mid range, only rev out in top gear, you will gain lots of time.

Why do the SuperKart's not have the ability to fine tune the car using the steering wheel as they have been doing this in Formula racers? I can't see what the LCD screen data is, but wouldn't it be better to change gears using the steering. or is that too expensive?

@Ellipser hhave you ever seen a kart chassis theres no suspensions diffs etc just a frame axles and the steering components they are so simple.

Road America has 3 big straightaways, the longest is 1.1 miles. It almost needs a unique setup and ratios. The elevation change out of turn 5 before the Toyota bridge and the uphill run out of turn 13 to the finish line demands some HP too so you can't cheat too much with a small engine. I did some motorcycle track days there and boy do you burn up the fuel. My fav is the righthander after the snap-on bridge, Great stuff.

damn that black kart kept screwing up his corner exits. His turn apexes were better than most everyone elses and he would out brake nearly everyone going into turns.

I wish I could afford to do this. That just looks like too much fun.

u only use the clutch to start the kart on 125cc on 250cc ive seen foot clutch but u dont need to use it to shift..
